May 7, 2009 3 Night Old Folks Cruise

Hey all,

I read this thread again & again....either I'm slow or it's too early in the morning but could someone explain what FE's are? I did read something about mailboxes but how does it work? My party consists of 11 (5 children ) and this sounds like fun.

Thanks

UPDATE: I did online search & found out more info......I would like to join if it's not too late!

I have kept the disney trips a secret from my kids in the past and our son just can't deal with it. He gets really stressed over change. The last time I did it, it was almost the end of our trip before he was relaxed and not asking tons of crazy questions, etc. I learned my lesson and have told them we are going.

We are going on the 3 night on May 7th as well. This will be the first DCL for DH and myself, second cruise. We will have our almost 3 DD with us and 8 month old DS with us. We are looking forward to it! I haven't started packing yet, but I have planned out the packing since we will be doing two nights at VDL prior to the cruise and we are driving down. :yay: The logistics of traveling with the 8 mo are overwhelming to say the least. Yikes! Yet we are so excited.

Great to have you joining us! I hear you on the 8 mo old. Last year we took our youngest when she was about that same age to wdw. It was unseasonably hot which made everything even harder. Our youngest - who just turned two this week - is still loving her bottle. We are determined to make that go away before the disney trip. No bottle packing for me!

we will be joining you on our first ever cruise - thought that a Disney cruise was a great one to start with..

just me and my hubby (who's birthday is on May 10th) looking forward to it.

we haven't decided if we should do anything at Nassau or just soak up the atmosphere and chill.

both really excited and looking forward to a great trip

We are not doing anything in Nassau either. We were considering doing the waterslides and everything at atlantis, but I think we have opted for a relaxing day back on the ship - we may do a little shopping though!

Hello Everyone!

We are on going to be traveling with you as well! (May7-10)..mothers day weekend!

I planned this surprise trip for my wife and 5 year old daughter.

Its STILL a surprise!

Anyway, I would love to participate in the fish extender fun! (Daughter would love it). ::thumbsup2

Idea'a on where I can get one?

Or - can someone that has made one send me the directions/ and I can have one made.

Can't wait!

Scott

E&EMom- What is VDL? Sorry I should probably now that. We have a 5 year old DS and a 3 year old DD. It's an 8 to 9 hour trip for us. We have decided to leave on Tues. and travel to Valdosta (which is our half way point) and then get up early Wed. morning and travel the rest of the way. We are staying at Radisson Resort the night before b/c of the awesome pool. Glad to you coming of the trip as well.

You can get fish extender off ebay. They are very cute but expensive. I don't sew, but and going to tactile this. There is another thread that has dimensions of the fish extender.

Last year my DH and I went of RCI, which went to Nassau. We didn't book an excursion, but walked around Nassau's historic areas. There is a map at the port in Nassau and you just follow it. It will take you to a old fort, which I highly recommend seeing. You get a great view and a great spot for pictures with the ship in the background. We will have our two DC with us this time, so we are actually just going to stay on the boat. Would love to go to Atlantas, but I think they are way over priced. It is neat to go and walk around. You have to pay to get in the aqaurium, but if you walk around outside you can see the majority of it.

well I have spent the morning looking through the excursions at Nassau and we have decided to spend a couple of hours out in the woods on a segway tour.

We have been on the segways at Epcot and offroad at the Wilderness Lodge - and really enjoyed them - so we are now looking forward to that, then we still have the rest of the day to explore Nassau and chill.

can't really believe its so close to our trip.

We feel like we are getting three holidays in one - a few days at OKW then cruise then another few days at OKW

Yep - Ebay or you can do what i did and use fabric glue. :) Not so friendly on the fingers though! You sound like a great hubby. Mine is great too - but I will absolutely mention to him the suprise idea for the future. :)

VDL should be VWL - Villas at the Wilderness Lodge. Typo! Sorry!

The logistics of packing for the 8 mo was going to be really bad until I saw the article about Disney hooking up with Babies Travel Lite. I've ordered all my formula, baby food, diapers, wipes, etc etc to be delivered to the cabin so I don't have to pack any of that in the bags that we are taking on the cruise.

We are not doing Nassau either - at least the kids and I aren't. I have them booked in to Flounders for a few hours while I have some me time. DH is going to go to the Pirate Museum and walk around a bit in Nassau since he has never been. I may inquire about putting DD in the kids club since she will be within 90 days of her third birthday.

We may be up for the FE as well. I'll have to see what I can get accomplished in the next few days.

The pirate museum is not a tour from the cruise line. It is something seperate and it is not far from the ship. It is within walking distance according to DH. He found info by searching about it online.

akjtmax - we have a 10 hour drive. We are going to do the whole thing in one shot this time. I am thinking of leaving in the middle of the night though so the kids will sleep for some of it. We will be driving down to Orlando on Tuesday and spending Wednesday at MK and then drive over to the port Thursday morning.

Does anyone know if the parking at the port only takes cash or do they take other forms of payment?

Gak! I think I forgot to include my staterooms in my PM. I'll send those here in a sec.

The pirate museum is here:
http://www.pirates-of-nassau.com/

We are also planning on staying aboard during Nassau. We might shop for a bit, but we're not doing any excursions or anything. It's too hard with the littlest being 2 and not really worth the money for 8 of us. :cutie:

E&E Mom - the port does take credit cards for parking, from what I read. :)

Our fish extenders are made, but they pale in comparison to your awesome handiwork!!! How awesome!!! :lovestruc

We're getting close. We leave in a few weeks for the land segment of our trip! :woohoo:

Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates!

We thought about going to MK on Wed. but the tickets are outrageous for one day. We decided to just make a trip to WDW. Can't wait to meet you and your kids.

We are staying onboard also at Nassau, except shopping. We see you at the pool. I have read that it is the slowest and best time to have little ones in the pool.
Thank you for posting the website. My DH was interested when I told him about it.
28 days until we board our cruise. Yoo Hoo:cheer2:

We wouldn't be going if we didn't have left over days on our tickets and the kids were not free still. Thank goodness for that. We bought tickets back in 2004 and have like one or two days left on them.

We would like to participate in the FE exchange. Who is coordinating for our cruise so that I can get them the info for us?

I am seriously thinking of doing the travellite deal also - they will also deliver to your room on the cruise! It sounds like that could make things so much easier!
