May 7, 2009 3 Night Old Folks Cruise

Well, tonight is the night we can book excursions, Palo, etc if you are not a Castaway Cay member if I have done my math correctly!! Is anyone else staying up until midnight?? I'm booking the dolphin excursion for everyone in our party (8). Momofaprettyprincess, I haven't been to Atlantis before but from what I have read on these boards it's a pretty cool place. I've heard it's cheaper to book on your own and not through Dinsey, especially since you have so many in your party. Hhi5- I haven't thought about FE's yet. If we can get a few others to join in, I will too!

I stayed up until midnight to book Palo, cabana massage, parasailing and kids club. We may book rooms @ Comfort Suites for access to Atlantis--each room is $325 (after fees & taxes) w/ max of 4 people per room. I was hoping to find a better deal though.

Great to hear that there are a few (guessing a bunch more too!) kids of the same age as our's going on this cruise. My DW booked this cruise for us and my 2 DDs (9 and 6) are as excited as they can be. We are heading to WDW and to AK the days prior to the cruise as well as a trip to Sea World before going to WDW and AK. I wish there was a "safe" for young kids to meet online so they could get to know each other prior to the cruise so that they could "break the ice" prior to the trip.

For those going to Nassau . . . has anyone ever considered "Letterboxing" ? Great activity and well as giving you something else to do while sightseeing !

CY'all on board ! :cool2:

Muskrat-What is letterboxing? Never heard of it. We are doing the dolphin excursion in Nassau and I'm not planning on too much additional sight seeing there, unless we are feeling brave. I have noticed too there are many 9-10 year olds on this board. There's probably another couple hundred we don't know about yet! I like the names of your family, although I'm hoping they are nicknames...but if they aren't there is absolutley nothing wrong with that!;)

Letterboxing is like a scavenger hunt. My family has been doing this now for the past 2 years and it is a great way to visit different cities and add a little "extra" adventure to the trip. These are hidden boxes all over the world and with clues left by the "box owner" you are now on an adventure to find the box. Kinda like a world wide hunt for the "hidden Mickey's". You can Google "letterboxing" and you should get the link right off the bat. Read the website well and make sure to look up "Nassau", there is at least one that my DW has told me about.

Yes, the names are nicknames. "Muskrat" was earned from eating a muskrat on a backpacking trip, not reccommended. "Snappy" for the DW but she is the designated picture taker. "Monkey" and "Cricket" are our 2 gymnastic DDs.

Letterboxing comes highly reccomended from us . . . more so than eating a muskrat!

Muskrat, Thanks for the info on letterboxing. I may check that out. We probably will be pretty wiped out after the dolphin excursion but you never know. Now the names make sense... muskrat...yuck!!!

I have finally decided to say hello... I am a lurker most times. My children and I will be cruising, well 2 of my 3 kids. The oldest is 17 and has cruised DCL before, so he opted to stay home and use his cruise money on prom and shopping. So it's just me and my two munchkins, DS5 pirate: and DD5 princess: , Twins! We have a category 12 booked. I have sailed in a cat 7 before but was too afraid to have the verandah with my younger children. I am sooooo looking forward to the vacation:cloud9: :woohoo:  !

Dalila :surfweb: :tinker:

we just returned from the 7 day to St Croix last week and decided to book a short cruise too. Will probably book another one since Disney gave us this $99 deal (can't pass it up!).

We've never sailed on Wonder so this will be new for us. The Magic has always been perfect!!

My husband and I will be sailing with our three daughters. Cat 4, not sure of the stateroom number yet.

WOW! That's great! Was it a last minute thing that Disney did or was it part of the going promotion when you initially booked the 7 day to St. Croix???:cool1:

Do you mean the $99.00 deal? It was something they offered while we were on our cruise last week. (A coupon flyer waiting in my stateroom after the show along with my chocolates and towel creature... !)

It is for any 3 day cruise from August to Dec 2009 and must be booked April - May 31st. It's $99 pp and you get the same cat. as your last cruise. So, this is a great deal!

Wow, well that sounds like a great deal! We have a dinsey trip planned in February 2010 and I am thinking of booking another cruise while we are on the ship also.

Oh my goodness:banana: I pray they offer the same thing when I sail on May 7th!:dance3:

Hi everyone! Wow the trip is coming up so fast! I keep hearing about those $99 deals. I hope they offer them to us on the ship, I will totally convince my DH that it's a deal we can't pass up!!;) I made our tags with the help of some great people on the Dis and copied them on magnetic paper. I also made a set of Mickey ears for the door. I'm not going to go too crazy. Has anybody started packing yet? I've been collecting little things here and there but nothing major. I see another set of multiples is joining the group! Hi Dermaymilsmommy! My twins will be 9 next month, it goes so fast...

I'm getting excited!! A little stressed too, though. I am feeling overwhelmed about all the things I need to pack for the four of us. I think my girls and DH just think the stuff magically appears at our vacation destination...they have no clue what I go through to make sure we have all we need and the little special extras too. Ugh! Oh well! I just can't believe I have to get into a bathingsuit earlier than normal this year. I really don't want to think about that! Okay, I'm done complaining.....yeeehaaa come on May!!!!!:yay:

I hear you on the packing - I have 5 little ones to pack for so my hubby is on his own! We are doing the 3 day cruise and then 7 days at WDW so I am super stressed about packing for the whole ordeal. I just saw the free dining special for the fall - I am wondering if I should book a trip for my kid's fall break next year??? Are you doing any of the magnetic door signs?

If I let my DH pack himself he would have 6 pairs of shorts all around the same color and like 3 t-shirts! He did this once on a trip to the beach. I could have killed him. Anyway I do have a few things for our cabin and my MIL's cabin. I have to figure out if I can post them and I'll show you. It's just those name tags you see on these boards with each of our names on them and then another Disney image I got from the DIS with our family name on it. I printed them all on that magnetic paper and they work great!

We'll be onboard, too!

I'd totally be up for FEs, if someone can help me out with instructions to make one. We're a crafty crew and my girls would get a huge kick out of it (as long as we don't have to, like, wander the ship trying to find eighty rooms to deliver treats every day) :rotfl:

But, keep it to under 12 and we'd play!

I have recently seen someone post how to make a fish extender without even sewing - using iron on patches and such. There is someone who sells them on ebay - I am sure you could get ideas there.

We are doing the magnetic names also. We have three rooms booked - with an MIL, FIL, 5 kids and my husband and I - we need them! Each of our rooms will have the corresponding names.
