Ice Cream: What are your favorite flavors?

no price difference here between non fat and whole but prices are much higher- gallon (non fat, 1 or 2 percent, whole) of any of the store brands at minimum run about $3.29. the price difference is if you get standard (store or name brand) vs ultra pasteurized in which case a gallon (non fat or other) runs $4.99. the advantage to the ultra pasteurized being much longer shelf life (I bought yesterday-use by is 4/9/26 vs the others with the furthest out at 3/6/26).
Yeah, we buy Fairlife which is ultra pasteurized and filtered to reduce sugar and increase protein. $5.32 for a 52 ounce jug. But it usually has a use by date 3 or 4 months down the road. We use very little milk anymore. My wife still eats cereal for breakfast, but with just a splash of milk on it. I gave up cereal about a year ago to keep my carbs down. Nothing but Eggbeaters from breakfast anymore.
Interesting on the price being the same. The butterfat is the whole milk should make it more expensive.

I know the products you are talking about, but I have a different perception I guess. By law to be called ice cream it has to have 10% butter fat. Yes, there are non-dairy desserts, sugar free, fat free, low fat frozen desserts now. But growing up in the 1960;s we RARELY got real ice cream. Too expensive. Most of the freezer in the store was full of ice MILK. Now .......comparing 8 year old me to 68 year old me..........it just seems the freezer case has a larger percentage of actual ice cream than I ever remember.
You know if anyone is in a habit of thinking that the more expensive the better the Ice Cream, I have found that to be false. I try others and have have primarily settled on Turkey Hill Dutch Chocolate, which is kind of the middle price wise. That means that it is labeled a lot higher than what it is actually sold for. They constantly do a BOGO free. It is only occasional weeks that it doesn't. I have found that here in Raleigh has settled specialty grocery stores. By that I mean that to get what you want you have to travel from one chain to another. Sometimes it is because of brand loyalty or it is because of the general price of an often used items that are always cheaper in different stores. I stated earlier that I have started to really love Sea Salt/Caramel and have found that flavor is available in Walmart Brand at less than $3.00 a quart package. It is tremendous and their Chocolate is also a very good sub when Turkey Hill is out.

Overall flavors I tend to like vanilla and coffee Breyers coffee is my current fave). I also like Cookies and cream and just about anything that has caramel. There was one kind I used to get at an ice cream stand near where I used to work that was SO good. Caramel Peanut butter cookie dough.

Peppermint stick, maple walnut, banana, peach, peanut butter.
NEVER anything with chocolate chips, chocolate cups with filling, etc. Not a fan of candy in my ice cream (peppermint stick is a BIG exception!).

I just refuse to pay a premium price for Breyers. I don't feel it is worth the extra money for just, what I consider, an average quality. But that may just be the frugal (cheap) side of my personality coming out.🤔😳

Haagen Dazs beats Breyers… it’s real ice cream and priced close to them…

Being from Vermont, if I am to compare an actual high end ice cream, I'd put Ben & Jerry's on the top with Haagen Dazs a very close second. I first met Ben as he was scooping out Ice Cream from his wheeled push cart along the streets of Burlington, Vt. so I pretty much have to stay loyal with that kind of connection. However, it is something that is too high priced for me be comfortable with. Whenever I visit Vermont I still always make it a point to go to the Factory in Waterbury, Vermont and have a scoop of Phish Food. For some reason paying $6.00 for a scoop at the factory doesn't seem all that expensive.
