Marathon wk-end EMH switch confirmed

Just got off the phone with MS to change a PS and they confirmed that EMH will be switched from MK to AK on Sun 1/11 and then EMH will be at MK instead of AK on Mon 1/12. Happy planning!

wait a minute, i read on I think this website that emh was at mgm on sunday? now i'm really confused...do you have a full list of what days are what. I'm there Jan 10-18th, this could mess some of our plans up. Thanks

katrina - EMH(Early Magic Hour) days are Sat:MGM; Sun:MK; Mon:AK; Tues:MGM; Weds:Epcot; Thurs:MK; Fri:AK. I've read several posts that last year the EMH on Sun (of the marathon) was moved to AK - that is also what the CM at Member Services told me this morning - when I asked if EMH would be at AK again on Mon she told me no, they are flipflopping the days and EMH on Mon would be at MK instead. She said those are the only two days being affected. I hope she has it right as our plans are for MGM on Sunday and we don't want to do EMH, so I hope it's not EMH at MGM on Sunday(since EMH is already on Sat at MGM I don't think they'd do one park two days in a row, though) - please let me know if you hear any different. I can't find these days listed on the official Disney site anywhere, can you?

Well somewhere I had a listing that EMH as MGM on Sunday but everywhere else I read (guidebook) and I think found it on allearsnet or maybe it was intercot has Sunday as MK and MGM as Sat, so I'll agree with your listing. The Sunday MGM I read must be a mistype. The swicth of MK and AK is missing me up though as we too are doing MGM on Sunday, but were taking advantage of EMH on Monday for AK. I believe AK is actually open 1 hour later on Sunday than it is the rest of the week, so if its having an EMH too, I may actually flip flop those 2 days. Use the EMH and if we stay the extra hour great, if not oh well. In MGMs case EMH doesn't really matter as its open later....its AK that's got me concerned. ...as to the actual switch I haven't seen that listed anywhere, I've just read a few posts on here that people have called and asked cm's and confirmed it.
I'm just so confused what to do now.

Katrina - where are you staying? The main reason we're doing MGM on Sun is because we can take the boat over from BWV and avoid the roads - I have read posts that say that the morning bus/car transportation gets backed up due to the marathon route and the blocking of some streets for the runners. If you are staying at AKL it would probably not be a problem - it may not end up being a problem anyway, that's just the one thing I've read that people who were there previous years say to be aware of. We were also doing EMH at AK on Monday - I think I'll keep it that way and just go to AK regular opening- figuring many people may have gone there the day before for EMH - and knowing it's a slow time of year (and my big kids will love the extra sleep)- well, we'll see what happens- we'll have a friend with us this trip who has never been to WDW, so I'm trying not to 'overschedule' the trip in my effort and excitement for him to see as much as he can - I know that can be a sure way to ruin the fun!

Just had to jump in and say hello since we will be arriving at WDW the same time as the posters on this thread. We are also planning on MGM for Sunday. I hope all I have read is correct and the marathon won't affect the park attendance.

Also, I think we will avoid the EMH for the week - do you agree?

On sunday we'll be staying at the PC, we won't move to AKL until later in the week. I don't know about the transportation problem, but they say pc has its own buses and is pretty close to MGM and AK so I think we'll probably be ok with that, maybe a little re-routing, but that's par for the day I suppose.
I still can't decide whether to stay with my original plan for MGM on sun or to take advantage of EMH for AK on Sun and switch our days. DH has never been to wdw and I haven't been since AK opened so the extra time would be nice, especially since i'd planned for us to leave early that night to head to WL for dinner, but maybe i'll just back the dinner up later to make up for the lost time. We aren't using emh for all days, just some, it depends on what our evening plans are. I've always used them that way. As to park attendance in Jan in general I've always gone the week before and found them to empty once the NYE crowd left so that's what I'm pretty much counting on, what's more of your problem is shortened park hours. So using the emh is tempting for that reason more so than for lines.
