Making Sense of Disney Gift Card Transactions

I was trying to lookup my charges using DisneyGiftCard.com (Check Balance), but it just gives a list of Credits and Debits with Dates. I have only been able to match one charge to a receipt. Some "Debits" were very large, which made me wonder if they were transfers to other cards, but I couldn't find a corresponding "Credit" on one of my other cards I still have (could have been to a different card). Is there any way to get a more detailed list of charges (i.e. with what restaurant, store, etc... it was used at)?

It looks like the "Amount" may actually be the remaining balance???

[EDIT] This definitely looks like the case. It also looks like sometimes charges close in time during the same day are combined/split meaning I have to add up everything for the same day sometimes and compare it to the day's debits.

I've never gotten the site to do anymore than show me the current balance on the card, never seen a history of card transactions...

If you select "Check Balance" under "Manage Cards" rather than "My Cards", you can key in the information for card and it shows what appears to be a running balance. It looks like some of the charges merged together though. For example, I bought an Orange for Breakfast at Sunshine Seasons ($2.12), but it authorized for $2.80 (Not sure why). Then, I had Lunch at Garden Grill ($38.34 with my Passholder Discount before Tip). The extra $0.68 was credited towards the Garden Grill charge, I was debited for the remainder ($37.66), and a separate debit was entered for the tip.

Cool!!

Maybe they authorized to cover an exceptionally large tip? That's really annoying for record keeping, I totally understand your frustration! Personally I stay on-site so I'm able to use the charge to room feature and pay off each night with my gift card at the front desk in one transaction a day. The front desk gives me a print out of my charges for the day and I match those to my receipts, very clean and easy. If charging to your room isn't an option it sounds like you'll have to go old school and keep a running tab on a note in your phone (let's not be too old school about this ;) ) and abandon tracking each charge on the website- that just looks way to frustrating for vacation!

I charged to my room too and reconciled by comparing my room receipt against my Disney gift card transactions. So didn't have the problems you are having.

I agree - it was sooo weird how it showed a running balance. Threw me off like crazy in the beginning! And your split charges are odd to say the least!

I think I've reconciled everything except a couple charges, which I believe were at AK (need to find receipts). DisneyGiftCard doesn't make it easy.

It used to show name of the store or restaurant (though no breakdown of purchase/tax/tip) and that helped so much reconciling, not sure why that went away. I tossed receipts one trip thinking I could go back into the gift card account and see where we spent money, and that's when I noticed it only shows charges now!
