Hi. We are celebrating our vow renewal in September on the Paddlefish at Disney Springs. As we are on the DP, we plan to visit GF cafe for brunch after the ceremony. We are a party of 6. 3 of the men are wearing kilts, I am wearing a dress, but not a wedding dress, and it isn't to the floor. Would they allow us to enter MK after our brunch? We thought it would be nice to have a few pictures in front of the castle.

There’s nothing in the dress code that prevents wearing kilts. As long as they aren’t dressing up as a Disney character, and the rules below are followed, it’s fine.
  • Clothing with objectionable material, including obscene language or graphics
  • Excessively torn clothing
  • Clothing which, by nature, exposes excessive portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment
  • Clothing that touches or drags on the ground
  • Clothing with multiple layers is subject to search upon entry
  • Objectionable tattoos
Assuming they won’t be doing cartwheels, and they will be wearing underwear… lol. I think it’s not much different than people wearing shorts/skirts.

Assuming the kilts are wool, I'd be concerned about Florida's heat in September. If you change into something light-light weight and cotton right after the pictures, it should be do-able.

Thank you everyone. We're staying at BC, so plan to travel back to Epcot on the monorail. We wont be staying too long at MK.

Just a reminder the decision will be up to the CM making the "Any Costume Evaluation" the day of your visit and not Experts on DIS aka us.

Also does your dress happen look like a Scottish traditional Highland dress by any chance, that may also be a potential issue?

Hi Dave, Yes, and I would totally understand their decision. My husband and my two sons are wearing Irish tartan (my maiden name is Irish) in honour of my father, who died the year we got married, 2002. I am wearing a white/ivory summer type dress, not a wedding dress. They will look more Braveheart than full clan dress.

Kilts should be fine in the parks. I've worn my utility kilt in Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios (and all 3 Universal parks). I wore my semi-traditional kilt (Irish national tartan) to Raglan Road for Christmas dinner last year. I've seen them being worn in Epcot, as well. I happened to be at Magic Kingdom on Dapper Day last year, and saw at least half a dozen guys dressed up in kilts. The only real issue with a "formal" kilt outfit at Disney is that the traditional knife in the sock would definitely not be allowed. Security also may or may not have an issue with the common kilt pins that look like swords or other weapons.

Can't see why not. They aren't dressing as a Disney character. But as the PP said just keep the sock knife at home.

Do you have park hoppers because monorail will bring you to front of Epcot so you have to go through Epcot to get to international gateway and Beach Club.
^^^ This.

And going from the front of Epcot to International Gateway feels like a long, hot walk in September, particularly if the sun is out.

Or it could be a very soggy walk if it's raining (which it often is during September afternoons).

If you're at MK and want to get back to BC using Disney transportation, your best bet is to take the bus from MK to BC.

I can't answer your question, although I don't see why it would be an issue. I'm sure the pictures would be special!
