Thank you all for your many prayers and kind words. This morning I felt drawn back to the boards where we have such special memories. I am overwhelmed. We were all so touched by the special angel smilie face. Our hearts are broken.

I am so lost without my sunny little boy.

Hello all. I am what you would probably refer to as a lurker. My name is Terry. I have been reading about all the sadness of late and feel almost like I am intruding on your board at a bad time. But since I have been having a difficult time pulling myself away from this board, I figured I should just dive in and introduce myself while also offering my thoughts and prayers to those who are living thru such dark times.

As I said before, my name is Terry, and my nine year old son Richard has been granted his wish to go to Disney from Make-A-Wish. Richard has cystic fibrosis which was previously very manageable. However, the last year has been incredibly difficult for him with frequent hospitalizations and various medical procedures. Richard also has had many surgeries to correct abdominal abnormalities which were unrelated to the CF. Well, like I said, its been a tough year. He missed most of the school year due to illness and has struggled to keep his spirits up. One of his home-care nurses nominated him for a wish and before we knew it, we were booked to depart on September 26th.

My husband and I are incredibly humbled by the generosity of strangers and are frankly overwhelmed. We are also having a difficult time trying to reconcile the needs of our son with that of our four year old daughter Katie. You see, Katie has autism. She is only beginning to speak words and has many sensory and transition issues. Fortunately, my parents and sisters have agreed to meet up with us and help with Katie so as not to ruin Richard's wish trip. My family is staying at GKTW and my parents/sisters are going to stay at the Contemporary. I have my fingers crossed that this will work for us. My greatest fear is Katie needs will overshadow Richard's wants. He is such a great kid, a sweet and wonderfully doting brother and I just want this to be perfect for him. Despite his disease, he has had to sacrafice so much for his sister and he does it without hesitation.

I know there are so many more deserving people than our family, but if you could keep good thoughts for us, I would genuinely appreciate it.

I also wanted to thank you all on behalf of all the lurkers out there. The information, guidance and support you provide is simply priceless. And forgive me if I posted this in the wrong place, as a newbie who is not very computer savy, I did the best I could.:)

Hey Terry, welcome to the boards!!!!:hippie:

I can't wait to hear more about your family and you WDW trip. I really hope you stat a PTR. It's alot of fun and you can add alot more in depth info that you don't want to put in this thread.

We are going from September 13-19th, so it looks like we will miss each other by about a week.:guilty:I would love to have meet another family out at GKTW. Especially one who knows a bit about what my family is going through.

My son, Liam, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis last December. Right now he is doing real well and we have good control over the disease, but as you know CF is sneaky and can creep up on you when you least expect it.:confused3

I hope Richard and Katie are doing well, and I can't wait to hear more.

Corrine

Nichole!

I am so sorry for your loss.

Noah has touched and inspired so many people! I know I smiled every time I thought of that cutie pie!

Your family is in our prayers

Lynn

Welcome Terry!! This is a wonderful place to be. I am daily amazed with the people on this board. They are such an amazing group of people with hearts of gold. I am still overwhelmed how they have reached out to us and have been such a great help!!! Just sit back and enjoy the ride it has been amazing so far and we too have just begun.

I am sitting the ICU waiting room.

One of my best friends, Rachel, is here. For the full story, you can check the green link...I just can't type it all here.

But she is not getting any better and has gone down so very fast.

My personal thoughts are that she may not make it through the weekend.

Please pray for her Mom, Joyce.

I feel bad that I am not on here as much...things are just a little crazy right now.

Maroo please do not feel bad for not being on here much. It seems you have alot on you right now. We are praying for you and Rachel and her mom Joyce.

Sending hugs your way. I thought you could use one.

Oh Nichole...

I am so sorry. :sad1:

Have you seen the Honoring Noah thread? It is linked in several places. Lots of people donating in Noahs honor to GKTW.

We love you guys.

Hello Terry!

I am slow getting to this introduction. Sorry bout that!

It sounds like you guys are going to have a magical trip!!

Please feel free to ask questions and read the wish trips (although we do give away a few surprises).

:welcome: to the boards!! :)

Nichole, you have my prayers. I hear your pain and know nothing is going to make it better for a long time. I wish you peace of soul. If you want to talk to someone only a few days ahead of you feel free to pm me. Hugs. Karen

So, here is something that we did on our trip that has helped me keep everything straight. Each day, I picked up a map of the park, dated it and then marked what we did in order. It has made it easier for me to write  (only on day 2) my TR, and I'm sure it will help with my scrapbooking later!

Thank you guys for the warm welcome! I have been spending way too much time on here over the last few days. I think I have read every single wish-trip report written! They are all so entertaining and helpful. One day soon I will gather the courage and start my own, when I do I'll let you know.

I just wanted to thank you all once again. You are a great group and I am so thrilled to have found you.

Oh, one more thing, I think I mentioned I wasn't computer savy, but I thought I'd try and post a pic of the kids - its from Christmas. I think it took me six months to figure out how to get it stored on my computer, let alone upload it to photobucket.

First of all, I wanted to let everyone know that we got our first Big Give package last week. Great Pics on out PTR if you want to check it out.:thumbsup2

Second of all, I know this in here somewhere already but I thought I would ask the question anyway. This our first trip to WDW so this is very new to us. I have seen people recomend certain food that they really enjoyed. I know about the Dole Whip (Pineapple icecream???) but was wondering if others can recomend some other things and where to get them. Thanks.:worship::worship::worship:

I have more snack ideas...

At some point I can repost them on here...but really can't today (someone please remind me)...but you can go to the "strangers" TR linked in my siggie...and you will find a LOT of really yummy snacks on there that we have talked about. Complete with lots of pictures!

And that pre-trip report is very, very funny...I am going on the trip, too, so I have contributed some to the banter...but it really will make you smile if you are having a bad day.

Stay way far away from it if you are on any kind of diet! ::yes::

Here is one picture to tide you over...then you can head over there and see the rest...

And really remind me and I can copy and post them all over here...

Heading over there right now.

Thanks Maroo.

By the way, that pic is making me drool.:rotfl2:

Oh my... just looking at that dessert makes my clothes feel tighter!

Ok - here's a question for you. Anyone take their wish kid to Discovery Cove? I had just posted in my PTR how Richard declared Magic Kingdom is for babies (Yes, I know the horror) and he wants to go to swim with dolphins. But I am having a hard time swallowing the price of tickets. So I am wondering if any of you ever went with your wish kid... is this something I should consider or should I just pretend I didn't hear that? My gut tells me there is plenty of other great things to do and once we get there, he will forget all about the dolphins, but then this little voice in my head (yes, I hear voices) says, if its what he wants to do..... HELP!

Well here's another question... (sorry if I'm being annoying) Since Richard has declared "Magic Kingdom is for babies" (my mind is still reeling from that one)... should I even bother with MNSSHP?

I don't have answers about Discovery Cove, but I don't see any harm is asking Make-A-Wish. They get a lot of things donated. Discovery Cove might be willing to work something out with them, so you can take him swimming with dolphins. You don't know if you don't ask. Maybe they will say yes!

So here I was reading my daily fill of Wish Trip Reports when I looked at my Siggy and relized that we are all one's. :goodvibes

One month, One week, and One day.:banana::banana:

I am so excited!!!!!!:dance3::woohoo::yay:
