Magic Band Shipment

Yes, they originate in Davenport, FL. From there they are trucked by a 3rd party (One Stop Mailing) to another location, which for many is in Glendale Heights, IL. USPS tracking is flat out terrible. There are times the tracking won't show any (or very little) progress until after the package has been delivered.
My experience was like this also where I saw no tracking info for days and then it would pop up one day with some tracking info and then nothing for days. It's a terrible process.

I guess my problem starts there. I never received an email. I just looked it up on MDE and got the tracking info.

This morning I called the other members of our party and they are getting their MB today according to their tracking info.
I am sorry to hear this. :(

Way to go USPS :sad2: You guys get a bad rap sometimes, but maybe sometimes you earn it:rolleyes1

Yours and mine must be on the same truck. We're also in Northwest Florida, and mine shipped exactly as you've stated, right down to the day. Hopefully we'll get them this coming week! It looks like we'll be there at the same time.

I remember when Magicbands first came out and they were shipped UPS, from Orlando, and we got ours within 2 days. Wish they'd go back to that, but I guess it cost too much.

Well at least my bands aren't alone LoL:grouphug: I really hope to get them this week since I want to decorate them.

I wish it was still UPS, you can really tell a difference in the service you get...
Just checked and my email says they've been picked up by a shipping partner and the USPS is awaiting them? What do they mean by shipping partner? Good grief :scratchin Mine haven't moved beyond their July 6 status :tiptoe:

The shipping partner is a third party company (One Stop Mailing) who then brings it to a USPS facility. Then USPS brings it to you. It's a cheaper option for companies but it's a pain in the rear for consumers.

Mine hasn't been updated since July 5th when it says it left Glendale Heights, IL.

The carbon footprint of this is awful! Seriously, having a truck pick up the bands in FL, drive them to Illinois to give to USPS, only to have them drive them back down to FL, GA, etc? Ridiculous!

USPS has had this system of hub-and-spoke ground shipping for longer than the internet has been around. People just didn't know what happened to their packages in the old days. They would just magically appear a week or so later.

That isn't what is happening here. Disney is using a 3rd party company that is taking all packages from Florida to their facility in Illinois. This company is then driving the packages to somewhere in the guest's region and giving them to USPS there for "last mile delivery". In my case that "last mile delivery" to Central Florida was this company giving the package to USPS in Atlanta. Until it got to Atlanta it was not in possession of USPS. Once USPS had it they took it straight to my regional mail processing and then out to my local post office for delivery.

In this case it isn't earned. The bad rap should fall on the company "One Stop Mailing" and Disney for using them to save a few pennies per shipment in return for horribly slow service.

If Disney wants to use a 3rd party shipping company which hands the package off to USPS for actual "last mile" delivery to the customer, I wish they'd use someone a bit more efficient. FedEx SmartPost and UPS SurePost are similar services, but their package system is a lot more efficient than this "One Stop Mailing" place. Plus they do actually deliver the package directly to my local post office for the actual delivery. So it is much quicker than One Stop Mailing who gave my package to USPS 450 miles away in Atlanta.

I have never heard of this company before. So they are the culprit in all this. Either way I'm expecting the MBs next week...keep ya posted :stir:

And mine was updated July 6. A race to the finish! :moped:

Ours arrived today and it is our first trip with Magic Bands!! Haven't been since 2010. So we are getting excited :)

We live in northern Iowa. I received shipment notification on Monday and they were here on Thursday via USPS - so 4 days total, including a holiday. Crazy!

I finally got an update on our MB this morning. They have arrived and departed my USPS hub in Pensacola (along with 2 other shipments I am getting), so I should get ours tomorrow. :jumping1:

Okay, just checked and ours are in Illinois...so making some progress. I'm wondering if One Stop Mailing is sarcasm (I think it is) :stir:

I got a shipment notification on Friday, July 7. Well...notification that they were awaiting pickup by third party to USPS.im assuming Monday is more likely. We leave 8/5 so I'm not worried

We got our notification on Friday, also. 5:02 pm picked up by shipping partner. We are also going on 8/5!

Let's have a magic band race! Loser buys a round of dole whips!

MDE says estimated delivery July 11-13. Anyone believe that?
