Hi Ladies....Congrats to your son Sewer! That's great!

I am still recovering...don't feel so hot but am waiting for my Allegra D and coffee to kick in so I can function and get some stuff done around here! Have a good couple last days of 2008!

Okay - quick non-reading post again to let you know I've lied to you all! Not intentially, but there is no way I have time to catch up this week. My SIL gets here with the baby early Wed am, so I won't be back on before Monday. Cleaning, errands, EHHH!

So, early wishes to everyone for a very safe, very happy new year.

My New Years resolutions include to DIS more/clean less! :rotfl:

Just read real quick but no time to reply to all yet.

Took Ally to the Dr today - no chicken pox, just a staph infection! It's all over her leg, big nasty sores probably started from FLEAS at my sister's house! :scared1: Just one flea bite and she scratched it and it's just nasty.

Anyway, better than chicken pox.

No stop at the Awful Waffle, but we could have yesterday! Let me just say that our normal 6 1/2 hr trip back from Jeff's parent's house took us 10 hours!!!! No accidents, just traffic. We would go 50 for a mile or so, then stop, then up to 20 for 2 miles, then stop. This went on for about 250 of the 400 mile trip. It was HORRIBLE!!! We seriously said we won't go north again for Christmas, if we plan on coming back the weekend following. Between all the southerners who like to Christmas up north, and all the snowbirds heading to FL, it was miserable. Ally and Buckeye were both really good though, so that helped. But we left at 11:30, planning to get in around 6 or 6:30 (7 if we hit traffic) and pulled into our driveway at 9:30. I can't begin to tell you how awful it was. The first 2 hrs we averaged about 75mph, the last 8 hrs we averaged about 30. Not fun.

Back later!

Fleas!dear god! I hope she is okay. My six had the same traffic thing happen outside of Houston . I figure it must be a southern thing.

Kara, I went back to find your post about Ally's rash, and I couldn't find it! I'm so sorry she got bit - glad it wasn't chicken pox! So, your DSIL didn't come because of it???? :rotfl2: Are you sure you didn't train those fleas?;)

That traffic sounds horrible! We would have gone bonkers! I'm glad you are home safe. Can't wait to hear about it!

Hiya all,

sorry for being MIA for a while.... but I DID Christmas, with the inlaws staying over - even asked them to stay an extra night as we were having such a great time..... House is mine again now, so back to normal.......

Thanks so much to whoever - I can't remember...sorry..... for the heads up on how to find out if they were on Santa's nice list.... made a VERY magical moment!!!! We made a gingerbread house that day, then looked on "the list" what a lovely dreamy Christmassy day.....!!!

MIL asked the kids what the best bit of Christmas had been before they left.... DD6 said "spending time with our family" There was not ONE dry eye in the house.... what a little darling....

Saw the comments on 12 days of Christmas... yep it is a Brit one - but also has a little back story - during the days of Cromwell, Christmas was virtually banned, all of the goodies - mince pies/puddings etc were totally outlawed on pain of prison etc, so songs like this were made up - they go through from the partridge in the pear tree symbolising the birth of Christ to the 12 whatevers, whatevering as the 12 loyal disciples..... so it can also be interpreted as a coded song...

Anyhow, hope the coming new year brings you everything you all wish for....

Cheers,
Tessa

Fleas!dear god! I hope she is okay. My six had the same traffic thing happen outside of Houston . I figure it must be a southern thing.

I think it is a southern thing - the northbound traffic was moving just fine with very little traffic. Jeff said he will NOT do this again. Next year Christmas is on Friday and we were going to go to Jeff's parents house, but he said NO WAY - they can come here since his sis won't leave her house at all on Christmas day anyway. Selfish. But he talked to some locals who said it's like that EVERY year the weekend after Christmas with all the snowbirds heading to FL for the winter, plus I do think that since FL is so many northern transplants, we all want to do Christmas up north. I just can't even explain how awful it was. I've never seen traffic like this. It's one thing to get caught in a 10 mile backup because of an accident, but this was about 250 miles of this.

There was no post about her rash - I had texted a few folks that I had in my phone. It was kind of funny that BSIL couldn't make the trip, but we think she was looking for a reason NOT to go. They just don't try to do things with family. They are very selfish that way, and she jumped at the chance to stay home. But thank goodness they didn't come, and her kids caught this staph infection from Ally. We'd never hear the end of it. We would have been "blamed" for it.

Tessa, that is so interesting!!!! I can hardly wait to share that info about the 12 days of Christmas with others! Who knew! :confused3

Debbie, hope you're feeling better! I started getting that achy feeling yesterday but feel fine today.

Oh, and I found a great little device that saved me from allergies at my parents house! I get horrible allergies and I'm thinking it's from the mold in their basement. If I went outside I was fine. My zyrtec didn't help at all. So I got what I call "aladdin's genie lamp" - that's what it looks like! You fill it with warm water, and some medicine that comes with it. Then bend over the sink and literally pour it into one nostril, then it comes out the other nostril. Not pretty, but it worked miracles for me! Then I also got some Zycam allergie swabs with a nice mentholyptus that really finished the job. Once I started using these about every 4 hours, I didn't sneeze or sniffle again!

We were planning on going to the community NYE party here tomorrow night, but since Ally is still contagious, we can't take her to Kids Club, so we're gonna do family fun night tomorrow. We bought Rock Band for the video game system and we've all been drumming and strumming, and Ally has been singing. She can really destroy Bon Jovi!!!! :rotfl2: It's so much fun! Jeff is our guitarist and I'm the drummer. And poor Ally really thinks she can sing - let's just say I love my tone deaf little girl! :rotfl:

Back to work - still crazy busy but I wanted to touch base real quick!

Hi Ladies!
I actually felt better yesterday then today. It is definitely a sinus thing. I finally brought Matthew in because he has had a runny nose since OCTOBER! Well, it was worse and I couldn't take it anymore. So to make a long story short he is on antibiotics now. I mean not that my house isn't bad enough but to be sick right after Christmas is brutal! I figure that I have until the end of January to clear out this apartment. One bag a day should do it! MUCH easier said then done. Also, I ABSOLUTELY MUST get my finances in order! Top priority including looking at working outside the house. Not fun but I have to make these two changes. They are a must so help me stick to hit ladies! I count on you. Unfortunately, with these resolutions will be using the computer as my reward and punishment. Work done in the house will equal computer time with my pals!!!!

Sounds like a wonderful Christmas, Tessa! I'm so glad! Thanks for the history lesson about the song! I knew there was religious persecution, but I didn't know Christmas was banned! :scared1:

Wow Debbie! You have some great goals to work on! I started using the DIS as my reward for work finished, too - then I started doing the DIS instead of the work! :rotfl2: I applaud you. :worship:

Gads, our weather went from the 60's to the teens today with snow:scared1:

That's exactly what's happening here!

All the snow melted these past few days; now I'm getting 7-10 inches and the wind chill factor is supposed to be below 0 tonite! Looks like I'm staying put!

Off to catch up on the posts I've missed.......................

just a quick stop to say hello. No Van for us we couldn't decide and so we have decided to wait. Oh well probably better that way.

Happy New year everyone!

Gads, our weather went from the 60's to the teens today with snow:scared1:

I know! When I left my parents house last Saturday, it was supposed to be int he 60's - they're in North Canton. The whole way down we were in short sleeves at all the stops! Crazy weather!

That's exactly what's happening here!

There you are! I sent you a text yesterday - what are you Feb Disney dates? I need to plan to meet up with you! We'll probably stay over a Saturday night - Disney (and all of Florida tourism) is offering killer rates for locals trying to drum up business.

Well, I took Ally back to the Dr this morning. I called and told them her sores were hot and swollen and they told me to come in "right away." :scared1: Scared the ever livin out of me! But the Dr actually thinks it looks better, even though it looks worse. Meaning, it looks nasty, but the sores are scabbing over and not spreading any more.

I called my local grocery store, Publix, last night and asked if they could basically be my personal shopper. They grabbed about 3 things for me and held them at customer service, so I could pull up outside the door, and still see Ally in the car, then run in and pay. This store is AWESOME! Best customer service.

So I set her up on Instant Messenger with her laptop - I've created a monster! She keeps sending me messages, and she figured out the smilies and nudges and winks. It's cute.

OK, who's going to WDW in March???? Jeff is planning a golf weekend here one weekend so guess where Ally and Iare going????? If I can figure out the best date for ME (meaning, when one of my DISbuds is at Disney!) then I can have him plan for that weekend!

Think we're gonna do snacky stuff for dinner - potato skins, cheese sticks, dips, etc. Then we'll play games and wait for the ball to drop (if I can make it that late!!!).

If I don't get back here....

Happy New Year!
