Lisa's Wish Journal - Now we have gone Dopey.

Great job getting your walk in!:cheer2: I know what you mean about the area around the soccer field...Around my girls' soccer field, the track is rocky and has broken up pieces of asphalt. It makes it very difficult to walk on.

I'm glad that you got a personal response from Disney!:wizard: It's nice to hear that they made the situation right.:thumbsup2

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks Tracy, I hope you have a fabulous time on your trip.

No exercise yesterday either. I had a sinus headache and ended up leaving work almost as soon as I got there. Usually if I can make it to work, I can stay, but not yesterday. Ended up sleeping most of the day.

It stormed all night here and is suppose to rain all day.Soccer was cancelled. We are going to a bday party for Chloee at an Alligator Farm.:scared1: Should be fun, right?:rolleyes1 Not sure after that. Since we will be in LA, I think I may head on over the New Orleans and search for a JoAnn's I have heard is just across the lake. DD wants me to make Chloee a pirate dress to match her's for Disney and that is where the material came from I think.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good for you for taking that up with Disney and good for them for taking care of it! I hate it that they do that as well. The last time I did CRT they took out around $150 out of my checking account for a reservation that was 180 days away! Crazy!

Hope the party at the alligator farm was fun, that sounds kinda creepy to me!:scared1:

Good job doing the walking, I can't walk on grass easily either! Let us know what you find with the strength training, it sounds like a good idea to me!

Hope your headache finally went away for good! I get those too, esp. this time of year with my allergies.

Hi Amy,
Yes, one of the many reasons I like vacationing at Disney. Most people there will try to work with you and resolve issues if they can.

The Alligator Farm was actually fun and not at all what I expected. The first part of the tour was very interesting and educational. They explain all about alligators, where/how they live, etc. Then they take you into one of the barns to just look at them and then they bring one of the smaller ones out (with it's mouth taped shut) for you to see up close and for the kids to touch it. The one we went to is actually a hatchery and they don't keep any over 4-5 years old so there weren't any big ones there.

I tried walking Sunday and took Roo with me, but couldn't do more than three miles. Yesterday though, I went to the track by myself and ended up doing 5.5 miles. I was only going to do 4 and probably should have stopped there, as I am feeling it this morning. Not sure if I am going to try to go out tonight or not. I REALLY need to stay home and wash clothes. I was a little limited on my choices this morning. Maybe today would be a good day to try out the weight bench.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Tonight I did not go out and walk. Storm clouds were on the horizon (although it nevered rained) so I decided on a quiet evening at home. DH went to DS' swim meet, so it was just DD and I (and older DS who is in bed sick:sick:). Did laundry, worked on cpu and picked up a bit. OH, and tried the weight bench. I put on the smallest weights and did a bit carefully. I actually found some instructions and followed them. I was very careful not to over do it. I can be a bit zeolous with new stuff.

So for about two hours I was estatic today. Right before lunch my supervisor asked me to get him all of the figures for the training I want to go to so he could input it into the training spreadsheet.:cool1::banana::woohoo: So after lunch I spent about an hour, took it all to him, he put it into the spread sheet and then told me we have no training $$ so don't get my hopes up.:headache: Problem was the training is being held at the WDW Dolphin, and you tell me not to get my hopes up or excited?!?!? :sad2: I had the whole week planned out already, where I was going to stay, flights, everything for five whole days. Five whole days in Disney by myself. Sure part of the time would be spent at training, training that I really want, but still. Five whole days in Disney just me doing exactly what I want. So for about two hours today, I was on a total Disney high. and now......... oh well, such is life and the way mine goes. so not to end this posting on a downer note......

Good news: DS' relay team qualified for the State Meet tonight, DS also swam the 500 and completed it:banana: He actually came in 2nd.:woohoo: and he improved on his 50 freestyle time. Still not State time there, but he did his personal best tonight. So a good evening at the pool for DS. :goodvibes Yeah, I'm not a proud mama or anything.:cool2:

Oh man Lisa that would be heartbreaking to think you'd have a trip to Disney alone and on expense only to find out its a longshot! But I am keeping my fingers crossed that it all works out. Keep hoping!

That is great about ds, you must be proud.

Good job with the weights and starting out sensibly. So often we let our energy and enthusiasm over take us and it can really set us back!

Thanks Amy.
My supervisor is tip toeing around me this morning. His wife probably lit into him for doing that last night. :rotfl: Men can be so insensitive at times.

Today was a busy day at work. Walked across the street twice today and had stuff going on through lunch, so I was very late eating. Messed up the rest of my day. But....I didn't get sick so all was not bad.
Walked for 45 minutes at the soccer field this evening. Not bad I guess. Hope to get to do more tomorrow.

Not much from here today. Wednesdays are busy days for us.
Hope everyone had a great day.

Lisa, its amazing how much a change in meal time can wreak havoc with the rest of the day, I am the same way!

That's too funny if your boss' wife got mad at him! But if she did, he deserved it, you don't dangle the Disney fruit in front of a Disney Lover, its simply cruel!:rotfl:

Hope your day today has been calmer. And 45 minutes walk is still a good walk and better than nothing. Maybe you'll get a longer one in tonight!

Yes, Amy, I like my food when I want it.

Yesterday started out good, started going downhill quick, got better and then took a very bad turn for the worse. :sad2:

Got up and felt fine. I have been having sinus problems a lot, so actually noticed that I felt good. I have been reading up on things to do (and not do) to help the situation.

When I got to work, I suddenly started feeling bad and got progressively worse. I took medicine, walked outside, tried to eat breakfast. Nothing worked. So, I prepared to go home. One thing I needed to do was walk some stuff over to the main building before left. A bunch of the guys were heading over for a All Hands ceremony. As we walked, I actually started to feel a little better. They asked me to come to the front of the building after I got done what I had to do. I did and as we stood there I kept getting better. :confused3 Ended up being a good thing I went. I was recognized for an award I received back in February for the last quarter of 2008.

Made it through the rest of the day fine and :woohoo: went home planning for a great three day weekend. As soon as I got home my friend Mary called. Did I know that my youngest DB was in town and that there was a moving truck at Gram's. :scared1::headache::eek: This is not good. Seems my DB has moved his family back to DM's house......AGAIN! and Gram hasn't told me yet. She knows how angry I'll be and she is trying to hold off telling me. :sad2: Wonder how long she thinks I won't notice 5 extra people living in her house.:rolleyes1

As a results I didn't walk or do anything last night, but I did stay up late and work on bills and budget. Got a lot done so it wasn't a total lost.

Today I took the kids to school. No sooner than I got home and was fixing breakfast, the school nurse called. Seems DD got sick and they wanted me to get her ASAP. So, total change of plans for today. Instead of running errands, I stayed home and did stuff around here. DD spent the day on the couch and watched tv. She was sick once more, but seems better now. Either she had too much dairy and sugar or a mild virus.

Still haven't heard from Gram.:sad2: Hopefully tomorrow will be better. No exercise today either. Planning to walk tommorrow morning though.:thumbsup2

I tried to walk this morning, but only did 1.25 miles. I didn't sleep well as DD came in and was very restless, then at 5:15am she got sick, again. So, had to clean up, get her settled on the couch and then I went out by myself. Had to take a benedryl this morning and all I can figure is lack of sleep combined with the pill was bad news. I tried to sleep on the couch with DD, but she kept waking me up and then DS came out and added to it. I ended up going back to bed and slept until almost 1:00pm:eek:
Felt better when I got up. Just did stuff around the house, made oldest DS mad 'cause I won't co-sign a loan for him, and then went shopping at Target and Sams. Quiet night at home now. I am going to try to walk again in the morning. I don't want DD going out to church, so I'll just walk and then do grocery shopping instead.

Just found out today, that my Dis friend Maroo is going to be joining us for the 1/2. :woohoo:
I have been getting lots of great tips from different people on things to do to train for this event. I love the DIS!

 Hi Lisa,

You are an AMAZING person!! :worship: Love your Journal - you are doing great - really sticking to your goal! You've done 14 min mile for 5 miles!! :woohoo:

You are so going to fly in the Half in Jan!! :cool1:

You have so much going on, so many little things that are trying to hold you back, but you are persevering through it all!! WTG!! :wizard:

and I sure hope you dont get sick - it will make me wonder if Maroo's swine flu is contagious online even :rotfl2: first Leisa, aka all7ofus, and now you???

The ipod is a great way for me to track my time, to take me mentally out and enjoy the time -

How are you doing with the strength training? Did you get a new mattress? I have to tell you I love the waterbed - they are so "out" nowadays, but I do get a goodnight sleep with them - makes it really hard staying at hotels, or visiting people!! :hippie:

Love the pictures you posted of your DD! And kudos to your ds in the swim meet - my DS #2 joined the swim team - broke several records then decided it was "boring" and quit! :scared1: dern kids!! They think they are in control of their lives!!

I really should go to bed - just kept researching "stuff" and followed your link over here!! Are you going to marathon weekend by yourself? I really admire how you have set your goal, and how you are achieving that goal, one step at a time, one day at a time!!

Your plans for your Thanksgiving trip sound AWESOME!! The decorations should be beautiful, I'd love to see the Osborn lights at Studios someday..... hope you take lots of pictures and share them with us!!

:cheer2: Hope you have a GREAT day today!!

I'm going to do 4 miles, and enjoy it!! :goodvibes

and one more thing -
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=33644154#post33644154
its the "DISappearing Peeps" thread - it was started... 2 years or so ago - people come and go (like me!) but it is a fun group - very supportive - they encourage you to post your weekly weight loss (or gain) as well as posting your food to encourage each other!!

I've been mia for a long time - but you have inspired me to set goals, and I can if I try!!

Lisa, I am so sorry your dd was sick and I hope she's feeling better. So many kids all over the place are sick right now, and its only September! Glad you were able to get some things done at home that day.

I am also really sorry about this situation with your db. I can really relate to this sort of thing as you know. Its so hard when family members who are trying to help end up doing the opposite. Just hang in there and focus on the good things you have going right now! But I know its tough and very aggravating.

That is great Maroo is doing the 1/2 too, you will have so much good disboard company to celebrate your big day with! You are doing so great, you just amaze and inspire me!

Happened AGAIN!!!!!:headache: I lost another post. Always the great ones too!

Sandy
Thanks for stopping by. I am being careful with the weight training until I am comfortable with it. I am such a clumsy person, that I could hurt myself very easily.
No new mattress. DH is very happy with it. I think we need one of those air ones where each person can chose what they want. We used to have a waterbed and I hated it. DH loved it. So we compromised. Get a regular mattress and he could pick it out. Thanks for all the great comments and encouragement. We were at WDW last Thanksgiving and got to the see lights. I was so in awe I forgot to take pictures. I'll try better this year.

Amy
Yes, youngest DB has moved in with his family to Mother's house. Not a good situation. But we go through this every couple of years, so I know the routine. Doesn't make it any easier though.

DD is better and anxious to get to school tomorrow. I wouldn't let her go out today, just wanted to make sure.

I think my problem is sinuses and stress.

Talked to my oldest DB about the youngest and at least we are on the same page. Then we talked about the Marathon. He had told me a few months ago that he had signed up but wasn't sure with his knees. He has had both operated on and one is still giving him a bit of trouble. So he is going to do the 5K, but not the half. Too bad Maroo couldn't just take his place there.

Then he asked what my plans were for the rest of the weekend. He was hoping we would get to spend at least one day together. He just lives in Houston, but we just don't get to see each other that much. and we have been to the World together only once and then we just got to spend a few hours together. He was confused as to why I was going home so early on Monday until I filled him in on my traveling with E.
Problem one: my brother wants me to stay until the evening flight on Monday so we can spend the day together.
Problem two: E wants to come home early, so she will get plenty of sleep and be able to go to work the next day.
The flight I had originally planned to take got in at 8:15 and we would be home by about 10:00pm. I would just drop everything in the bedroom and go to bed. Guess she can't do that. Not sure why I agreed to the change. I mean, she joined me on my trip, not the other way around. and she said she would travel whenever I wanted to, but then when it came time to book the flights didn't like either one I had chosen. and I had been telling her what flights I wanted to take for the past few months. My philosophy is: you go as early as possible on the first day and leave as late as possible on the last day to get as much time there as possible. Now I find out she doesn't feel the same way. Plus she told her DH originally we were coming home on Sunday, not Monday. I have always said Monday, always. I don't mind her going along, but feel everything that I have so carefully planned is going out the window. and I have been completely bummed about it ever since. And now DB wants to me to stay and I want to stay, but feel like I have given my word. I said I would drive to the airport and pay for parking. What to do.......:confused3

I'm sorry to hear that your DD was sick. Is she feeling better now? How are you feeling?

I'm sorry about the situation with your DB. I'm glad that you and your older DB are on the same page as far as that goes. Helps making going through the stress a bit easier.

Will E. be understanding if you choose to book a later flight on Monday? I bet you would enjoy spending some time with your DB. Sending some :wizard::wizard: for that situation.

Hope you have a great day!

Thanks Tracy and welcome back.

After much soul searching and being up for quite a while last night and then emailing with DB this morning, I have decided to leave my flights as they are. DB will be leaving 1.5 hours after us and that is the latest direct flight he could get. So I will leave my plans as they are and chalk this up to a lesson learned.

Tracy, I honestly don't think E would be that understanding if I did change my flight. When she was pushing me to come home early, she said "Does it really matter that much to stay there all day?" Yes, to me it does and she just didn't understand.
I must learn to stand up for myself and what I really want. This happens way too much to me, from many different people. Okay, pity party over.

Today was a very busy day at work. First it was Monday, guarranteed to be busy and then I am part of the "party" group at work. We raise money for holiday parties and stuff. Today we were finishing up a fundraiser and I ended up working more than I was suppose to today.

This afternoon DD had dance and then soccer practice. DH came and relieved me from soccer practice so I could go and walk. I ended up taking Roo with me and she did two miles and then I put her in the car. Didn't want to but when I tried to tie her to a picnic table, she started barking. She was happy in the car. I had the windows partial open and it was dark so I didn't have to worry about her getting hot. I did two more miles without her. Felt really good. and my time was good also.

Sandy
You mentioned hydration. I have just started drinking Powerade and it really helps. I have been so thristy and drink so much water and now I don't. I figured out that water doesn't replace everything I must have been losing. I am also going to start taking vitamins again. Not the healthiest eater here, so I figure I could use the help.

Hi Lisa

You do have a lot going on - its interesting how one life does affect another - and sometimes we forget that! It does sound like you are a people pleaser, and you dont spend enough time on just "YOU" - this marathon training is focusing your efforts on you!! Good for YOU!

I think talking to her is key - keep the lines of communication open, understand where she is coming from (getting back to real life - maybe she feels guilty on some level?) but do be firm, and strong in YOUR vacation! Its too important to spend time with your db!! Are there any taxi services you can pay for her?

ITA and have the same philosphy - get there as early as possible, stay as late as possible!! The United flights werent cooperating - to get the $200 RT rate we had to fly into Orlando at 9PM and leave Orlando at 6freakinAM!! what's the point? Thankfully American dropped their fares and we jumped on them!!

stress will do terrible things to you - I'd suggest more exercise, but you seem to have that down!! ;)

Have you seen the jelly beans for runners? They sell them at target - the same place they sell the cliff bars, and gu paks - gatorade does replace electrolytes, so that is a necessary - but I have a hard time stomaching that much acid - the gu blocks are like jello knox blox, and the jelly beans, are just like jelly beans!

They also sell them at the Expo! We'll probably head over on Thurs - I forgot they open on Thursday!!

You've been reading eande's Pre trip report - stay with your brother, and be thankful he wants to spend time with you! Life is short. Family is important!! :goodvibes

Thanks Sandy and Tracy

Yes, stress, my number one enemy or at least tied with my sinuses. No Taxis from the airport to home. I think the going rate right now is about $130 one way. We live over an hour from the airport in another state. As I said earlier, lesson learned.

yesterday evening it rained and rained and rained, Rain doesn't bother me as long as it isn't so hard, but we also had lightening. I am very respectful of lightening. Don't go out in it unless I absolutely have to.

No walking then, so what to do? Get out the new WII Fit! I finally bought one after talking about it forever. I have been waiting for some type of sale and was hoping there would be one during the Christmas sales this year. But Target had a good deal this week. Buy one and get a $20 gift card back. I had $20 in Target GCs saved for my trip, so I used those and then got my $20 back. Essentially got a discount on it. :woohoo: So I was very happy.

Took me forever to get it set up and then to figure out how to use it. Finally got it working and did a few of the yoga exercises. I really liked the program. Very easy to follow. I didn't get a lot done, but that's okay, at least I did something. Now that I have it all figured out, next time will go better.

Hope everyone has a great evening. :flower3:

Lisa, it sounds like this took care of itself by your brother not being able to leave late anyway. But boy can I relate! I get myself into these situations about all the time. Doing what somebody else wants me to do and not being able to stand up for what I want and need! This is a lesson learned that if you travel with E again, you tell her that with Disney in particular, all plans are subject to your love of the place! I got into this recently with booking my trip out to fil's surgery around being able to be there for Dan's aunt. And then realize that my biggest obligation is to my kids. I knew all along I needed to come home on Monday not on Friday but I booked it for Friday. Then realized I had boo boo'd and for once, did what I needed and rebooked. Which cost me $80 but I got myself out of it. And the world still turned! So that's my long winded take on it. I hope you still get to spend some time with your brother. And remember throughout this trip: Its your trip, you have worked very hard to achieve this goal, you love WDW and don't let anyone, even a close friend get in the way of that!!!

Congrats on the Wii Fit! That is just the perfect thing for rainy nights!

Keep up the good work, I cannot believe how close your 1/2 marathon is getting!:woohoo:
