Ladies, are you EVER going to leave?? 10 days of Food & Wine fun! *NEW 1/29 PG 34*

Very cool Christine! Love the pics from your FIRST MNSSHP!!!!

Looks just like I remember it! I totally loved the Cinderella carriage -- I sure would have loved to get a photo next to it -- the line was too long, it wasn't going to happen with my guys!

Seems like a fun night for you all!

UGH to the person sending the kids to stand in front of you. Were you actually sitting there and here they came?
I don't know why I'm surprised though, it's happened to us almost every time we've seen a parade....

Looks like you had a great evening though. Fun friends, good food, and a wonderful event!
Can't wait for more...

Great update Christine! I just love that MNSSHP! It's awesome, isn't it?

Too bad about the kids blocking your view.:sad2: It is almost to the point that it is becoming pointless to show up early for anything anymore as rude people will always find a way to push you out.

Can't wait to hear about your next day! Is there a weekend update in the works?:goodvibes

The restaurant was quite busy and while we waited we had fun chatting and sharing our Disney stories. It struck me, while we were sitting there having a grand old time, that none of us would even know each other were it not for a Disney obsession and several thousand posts on an internet message board. Who’d have thunk?

We were a few doors down from a Flintstone family on our October trip. They looked cute on their MNSSHP night - all happy and ready to party caveman style. :goodvibes I saw them on their departure morning, too, and they weren't quite as full of life. :sad2:

Liberty Tree Tavern - good meal, good atmosphere. We did that the day before Thanksgiving last year.

Great pin! What a nice gift!
You know I could never ride a subway, though, even with Mickey and friends.
Sub means under, and just the thought of under ground makes me hyperventilate.

Isn't it so nice to have our DIS friends? :thumbsup2

Thanks for the update. I know you guys had a fun evening.

Super-duper update!! Even though you have "only a few" pictures, they were enough to give a great window into how much fun you were having at the party!! Sounded like you got a whole bunch of fun stuff done.

You are much more patient than I would ever be. If you were sitting, couldn't they stand behind you and STILL see?? :confused3 Whatever... makes me mad.

Your costumes look great! Just as fun as all the MK decorations. Can't WAIT until next Sept!!!

Yeay, another great update, Christine!!! What a fun time you had with all the DISers!!! I must say that I find DISers to be some of the nicest people I have ever met! :goodvibes

Too bad about the colonial air conditioning dripping on Janice! :sad2: I take it from reading about your experience at Liberty Tree, that I should not feel bad that Charles refuses to eat there? I believe his exact words are always, "I refuse to eat Stouffer's turkey and stuffing in the middle of June at Disney."

Minnie's Palm Tree!!! :thumbsup2 I giggle everytime I see it!

I am with you about little kids squeezing in front of me at the parade. :headache:

:cool1: Great update Christine! Sounds like you had a great night!! Great pics!

WOOT another great update!!! I guess that means I should work on one now LOL!!!

What a great party I'm so glad you had such a great time enjoying everything!!!! Dinner with friends just sounds amazing!!! I would like to try the LTT sometime!!!!

Love your Photopass pics...much fun was definitely had!!

What a great pin!!! I loved it!!!! What a great gift!!!!

Can't wait to hear more!!!!! I hope you had a good week!!!!

The only thing more fun than going to MNSSHP and dinner at the LTT with you and our fantastic DIS buddies is to read about it in your trip report! Thanks for all the fun memories of a great night.

Now, while I applaud the thought of handing out healthier treats, I couldn’t help but feel badly for the “poor” CM who was stuck a few feet behind each station and was handing out…. raisins.

Well I probably made that CM's night a couple days later because I asked for extra raisins. Liam (DS) loves raisins and they were in Cars themed boxes too!

Do you suppose she wanted to shut us up?:rolleyes1

I dunno, but it worked !!!!

Oh and Christine I gotta say those raisins, yeah, poor person handing out THOSE!!! We had several boxes.... no one eats raisins in our house!!!! I put them in the stash that I gave out by the handful to the teenage trick-or-treaters!!!!

And BOO to the parent who let her kids stand in front of you -- WHAT is that all about??!!

WIGD!!!! IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We got ourselves a NEW update!!!

:lmao:

popcorn::

Oh boy!

You two are powerful in addition to being comical! ;)

Thanks. I thought the same thing about many of the lines that night -- cool stuff but too long for me. It was a very fun night!!

Do you suppose she wanted to shut us up?:rolleyes1

Of course not!! :goodvibes

MNSSHP sounds like so much fun! I have to figure out how to do a trip next fall...:rolleyes1

Yes, you do. Start planning now. My tentative dates are Oct 14-23... just sayin'... :rolleyes1

Yes, big ugh to those parents. We had stood up at that point so it wasn't so egregious but it was still rude. :sad2: It was a great night!

MNSSHP is my absolute favorite. It's so fun!! I might be able to work in an update today... we'll see... :rolleyes1

Thanks for the update. I know you guys had a fun evening.

I'm not a big subway rider either. But this pin is so cute. LTT would be a perfect Thanksgiving dinner! We did have a great evening - nothing like WDW with friends!

Sounds like a lovely evening with friends!

the pin is SO cute!!!!

It sure was!

Super-duper update!! Even though you have "only a few" pictures, they were enough to give a great window into how much fun you were having at the party!! Sounded like you got a whole bunch of fun stuff done.

I can't wait to go back either. 11 months and counting...

Yeay, another great update, Christine!!! What a fun time you had with all the DISers!!! I must say that I find DISers to be some of the nicest people I have ever met! :goodvibes

I agree - DISers are the BEST!! I would say that you aren't missing much in the LTT dinner. I have, however, heard that the lunch is better (hello- fried cheese!!)

:cool1: Great update Christine! Sounds like you had a great night!! Great pics!

Thanks. We had a blast!

WOOT another great update!!! I guess that means I should work on one now LOL!!!

Yep - you'd better get working on an update. ;)

I have to disagree with you slightly -- being there was WAY more fun. But it is nice to relive it.

Well I probably made that CM's night a couple days later because I asked for extra raisins. Liam (DS) loves raisins and they were in Cars themed boxes too!

I wish I'd known- I would have given you my raisins.

The CMs must have gotten a lot of comments b/c each one would have a premptive "they're raisins" speech before handing them out to make sure we actually wanted them. :rotfl:

My notes for this day read as follows:

“Holy mother blanking HOT.”

My notes didn’t actually say “blanking” they said another word. That is not DIS friendly.

It was hot, folks. 100+ degrees with the humidity. HOT. But this is what I wished for – a taste of the summer we didn’t really have in the Northeast so I was not going to complain. Besides, today was the day I would meet Jenjolt over in DHS!

I slept in ‘til ~9 and when I woke up my legs hurt. I always overdo in my first days at Disney and pay the price. So no exercise for me this day. Any excuse…

As I set off for DHS I encountered a new phenomenon. Humidity attacked the camera!

I just love the walk over to the Studios. Nice and relaxing. Of course this time I was dripping in sweat by the time I got there but I still like it.

DSC01504.jpg

As soon as I arrived I needed a nice cold water and I bumped into this old friend. He was so excited that Jackie would be visiting later in the week.

DSC01505.jpg

I had texted Jen and she was over in the Magic of Animation visiting with some characters. So we planned to meet out in front of the attraction in a few minutes. I went up the street walking through the shops – partly to stay in the air conditioning and partly in search of tank tops. I had only packed a few and with heat like this even the sleeves on your t-shirt were annoying.

I was nervous walking up to meet her but I needn’t have been… she’s just as super nice as she is on the boards! We spent a few minutes chatting and then headed off for adventure. I know what we did Toy Story and One Man’s Dream this morning but I am not sure in what order. Jen had been kind enough to get me a FP for TSM (thankyouthankyouthankyou!!!). I love this ride! Jen kicked my butt but we had fun anyway! My arm always hurts at the end!

I never get tired of exploring One Man’s Dream. I’m sad if it is really going away. Everytime I’m in there I find something new.

Walt’s office- so cool. Can you just imagine what it would have been like to work there? To waltz into Walt’s office for a meeting?

The Florida Project- there’s a work project I could get excited about!

DSC01510.jpg

It all started with a mouse

DSC01511.jpg

Do any old-school WDW visitors remember getting your orange or grape juice in the plastic containers shaped like the fruit? We had the orange container in our cupboard for a long time but I think my parents eventually threw it out.

DSC01512.jpg

I miss this ride (sorry MeMom-- another "sub" reference!)

DSC01509.jpg

This was cool – a small section on D23 and a display that was supposed to be a D23 fan’s room. Lots of neat memorabilia. I think Jen and I both saw some must have items.

DSC01513.jpg

We had a later ADR at Sci Fi but decided to check and see if they could squeeze us in earlier. I had never eaten here and was looking forward to trying it as well as it being stop #2 on the cheeseburgers in paradise tour. So we got over there and the woman at the desk seemed slightly annoyed but said that they should be able to seat us in ~20 minutes.

Fast forward at least 45 minutes. :headache: I recognize that a) they were doing us a favor and accommodating us earlier and b)you can never predict how long people will stay at a table but I would say that their process is seriously broken. The CMs would take the name of the next family to be seated but then spend a few minutes chit chatting amongst themselves. And for whatever reason the two CM’s they chose to seat people had the thickest accents imaginable. You wouldn’t have recognized them calling the “Smith party.” But I did have fun chatting with Jen while we waited.

Finally we were seated… and my broken process hypothesis was further confirmed .

There is no denying that the atmosphere is cool. This is a terrible picture but I'm going to include it anyway b/c it's what I've got. I'm sure Jen will have a better picture and I think she's about up to this day in her TR too.

DSC01514.jpg

I think it took a while for our waitress to arrive. After all that waiting, I was in need of some adult beverage goodness. Behold the Magic Star Cocktail

DSC01516.jpg

I’m such a nerd, I think I mostly wanted it b/c it came with a glow cube! But it also took the edge off. ;)

As an aside I had wondered if me on no dining plan with the Tables In Wonderland card and other dining companions on the dining plan would ever be an issue. It never was – every server took it in stride with no problem! Jen was on the deluxe dining plan and was kind enough to share her appetizer of onion rings with me. YUM.

It seemed like it took a while for our lunch to arrive. But I was VERY hungry. I had a cheeseburger … of course.

DSC01517.jpg

It was good. A perfectly passable cheeseburger. But not comparable to the one I had at the Plaza the day before or what I remembered from Beaches ‘n Cream and thus not a contender for best cheeseburger in the World. At least not in my book…

Jen had some sort of chocolately peanut buttery goodness for dessert that she was again kind enough to share. While we were eating our dessert the family in the front of the car flagged down our waitress… they had been seated at the same time we were and hadn’t been served their appetizers yet! :scared1:

The manager came over and explained that there had been an issue in the kitchen (ya think?) and offered that dessert would be on them. The couple (rightly so) pressed a bit further saying they didn’t think that was an appropriate resolution. I think the CM then offered fast passes. Overall I was not impressed with how the manager tried to recover from this issue.

So- bottom line on the Sci Fi. Really, really glad I tried it and the company with whom I tried it was fantastic. I thought the food was just ok. I don’t think I’d be inclined to return – unless with kids or other first timers who would get a big kick out of the atmosphere.

We had originally planned to hit Star Tours or Muppets after lunch but it had taken so long that it was time for me to boogie back to Epcot for my 3:00 tequila tasting. And that’s where I’ll leave you… for now.

Up next: Tequila, a monsoon and the true definition of the deluxe life

Thanks for reading. :upsidedow

Hey Christine - glad you made it into SciFi. I love the atmosphere there! At least you weren't with the group with the long food wait!

Hmmm....your next title has me intrigued. Can't wait for more!:)

I totally remember those plastic oranges from visiting WDW when I was a little girl! :thumbsup2 Now there's a misty water-colored memory! :lmao:

I'm two updates behind! :scared1:

MNSSHP sounds like such a blast with DIS buddies. I really have to get to LTT again, I just love the atmosphere there. And last September they were calling families like you remember...The Smith Party from wherever. It was really neat.

I had already heard about the ill fated Sci Fi experience. I've been there once and wasn't overly impressed but was willing to give it another shot.

There seem to be so many reviews of Sci-Fi recently that aren't that great, what a shame! It also seems to be rather common that people have really long waits. I think they should question the number of ADRs they make available... We will be eating there in January, but won't expect anything spectacular. So I hope we won't be too dissappointed! :goodvibes
