I am not going to be on the dis right now. I don't really know when I'll be back. I just wanted to thank all of you for your camaraderie and inspiration. All of your gorgeous outfits inspired me to keep at sewing and practice. All of you regardless of skill level have been an inspiration. While I was on here I really felt a sense of friendship among the board members and I am thankful to have met all of you. I hope that someday our paths will cross again.

Have an excellent Halloween, I know there are many costume contests to be won. Keep up the excellent work and Have a great time on your next trip to WDW.

Till next time...tifani.

I've always enjoyed your posts. Hope you return soon! We'll all miss you. :sad1:

I didn't think I talked that much!! :rotfl2: I figured I was hiding in the background. Apparently not! Very funny!

On a serious note. I need some sanity vibes and some sticky baby vibes. I have been bleeding all day and went to the ER. The doc says baby is hanging out in there as comfortable as can be, but I'm still stressed. Hubby is due home from his mini-deployment tomorrow. The doc figures I just overdid it trying to get the house put back together and taking care of three kids. So now I'm on modified bed rest for the weekend. So much for wandering town with hubby. Also, no "reuniting time" for dh and I. But whatever it takes for baby to be okay. So if you guys wouldn't mind thinking some happy thoughts for us, we would greatly appreciate it:hug: . Hubby can't get home and in my arms fast enough!!!

I will definitely be praying for you!!!!! My sister-in-law is also pregnant and just went through this same thing! Fortunately after some bed rest everything is fine! So stay down as much as possible! :grouphug:

I did not use a pattern for this, I think that is one reason why I liked it so much.

Here's how I did it....
1. I measured how wide I wanted my strips -- I used a 3.5 x 5 card for this. The width was 3.5".
2. I measured how long I wanted my strips -- I taped 3 of those cards together length wise and that was my length.
***Since I don't have a rotary cutter, I had to mark my strips with a pencil and then cut accordingly.
3. I cut 9 strips of the orange and 9 strips of the candy corn material.
4. Alternating the strips, I sewed them together lengthwise.
5. I made a casing for the waist, stitched, inserted elastic and stitched close.
6. I measuered my hem, ironed it down, pinned the ric-rac and then hemmed it up.

Voila -- stripwork twirl skirt.

I'm sure that it could probably be done much easier (I'm not an advanced sewer like some on here) but it was super easy for me.

Now I just need to tackle the patchwork & tiered skirt.

Thank you! I am pretty sure I can do that. Your skirt is so cute my DD loves it!

Oh and how do you figure out how much fabric you need?

prayers coming your way.
Did you dr mention anything about a subchorionic bleed? Happens quite often.

Hi - thanks for sharing, so your strips were 3.5x15 retangles? and then you just bunch up the waist with the elastic to her size? how did you know you needed 18 strips? i'd love to try to make this skirt!!! Ive been working on a tier skirt, and its okay, but somethings not perfect on the top level - ugh!!! thanks, wendy

I just made a correction to my measurements!!! The width of the strips was 5.5.

I had made a stripwork jumper for her before school and I used 18 strips for those, so I just did that again. I could have used less but she definitely loooooves the twirl factor.

Thank you! I am pretty sure I can do that. Your skirt is so cute my DD loves it!

Oh and how do you figure out how much fabric you need?

Just wanted to let you know that I changed the measurements that I gave. The width of each strip was 5.5 (not 3.5)!

As far as the fabric, I am always one to overbuy and I already had the material in my stash. I believe I used less than 2 yards of each one. I can never judge fabric while it is still on the bolt or on a garment.

Okay, trying to catch up. Funny how work gets in the way of life?!?!?!

Tom, Your daughter looks just like Alice!! I think that outfit is so perfect for her!!! Your whole family looks so happy. I had to smile when I saw your comment about going back to Disney. I remember you posting that you didn't think you'd be back there. We all tried to warn you that it is addictive. Soon we'll have you selling on Voldemort too!!! Even if it is all our own personal way of helping you fund your trip. I was dissapointed to not see my favorite of yours. The patchwork dress, with the two sided top "in case of messes" The one that is pink and blue and white patterns....must have been the day she decided no customs.:confused3

UMAMA Welcome back!!! We are waiting for more from you. You tend to make every day have a little bit of humor, so you've got to share some funny things that happened at Disney! Next question ...when are you going back, and have you stolen any heads from Home Depot for that countdown calendar yet??

As far as the post go...I know I talk too much...I didn't need anyone pointing it out though!!! :hippie:

All of the recent outfits have been stunning. Happy sewing and buying everyone!!

Just for laughs I thought I would list the "Top Chatters" here on the thread! I barely made the top 100! :confused3

Hey, I changed my username so people wouldn't have to hock up lugies when they say my name, NO fair!! So, add my current number onto that "hukite"'s 139 (and subtract a very few posts that I've made on other threads) and it moves me to right between revrob and bengalbelle. I always knew my sister had a big mouth! Or, at least fast fingers...tee-hee.

 I am praying for you and your baby. As my sister said, she bled with Arminda and Lydia and they are both fine. Try to take it easy!

ADORABLE!!! I love the fabrics!

That is SOOOOO cool!!!!

When I got home from my Mom's tonight (weekly Friday night out with Mom and Heather and kids) Brian showed me a card they had given him at work. It said something about never giving up, and keep your chin up, that kind of thing. Everyone at the store had signed it. I was really confused, and then he handed me the envelope the card had been in. There was over $70 in it! They had all felt so bad for Brian's van getting broken into they had secretly taken up a collection to pay for him some new waders. I was just in tears at their generosity.

I guess what they did was call Brian up front (he is an assistant manager at a grocery store) which usually means a customer need him. But, instead of a customer all of the employees were standing there waiting to give him the card. I am just so touched by their kindness and generosity. Of course, I cried!! I guess there really are more nice kind wonderful people out there than there are rotten ones!

Brian was all teary eyed when he was telling me about it too. He and Corey just left to buy waders at the store. I told him to buy some hot pink ones. Because 1, no self respecting fisherman is going to steal hot pink waders, and 2, if they DO steal them, they will be easy to spot! :lmao:

Oh, I cracky myself up!!!!!
Oh my gosh, that is so sweet!! Brian is such a good guy, I'm glad the people at the store appreciate him! I am all teary-eyed thinking about it. You cracky me up, too, btw.

Here are a few photos from our trip.
Unfortunately DD didn't get to wear all of the customs that I made. It was either too hot, or way too rainy for the day the outfit was planned for. I guess I will just have to plan another trip soon so that she will have a chance to wear them.

DD got lots of attention on the days she wore her customs.

Tom, she is just adoarble!! You have a cute family :cutie:

It looks like you had a wonderful time.

pixiedust_in_ak .... Yuo'll be in my prayers. Take it easy and rest!!

Tom, I know you posted this before, but what pattern did you use for the sailor minnie outfit? We're doing a cruise and that would be perfect...unless you plan on reselling?!? A little extra for your next trip maybe?

Just wanted to let you know you and baby will be in our prayers. I know what it is like being on bedrest and not knowing if you will be able to have your baby. I went through that with my 10yr dd. I spent a good deal of that pregnancy being told I would loose her, but I didn't.

If all of my classes had been online, I would have NEVER been voted shyest!

I know, I feel that I should do something for all of them. I got all teary eyed reading your reply to my post! I think that if i were in high school now, i would be voted "sappiest girl in class"!! and, "Most likely to cracky herself up!" :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Hi - This is my first try at the ruffler and a tiered twirl skirt - not positive on things - like when you do the elastic, do you make it exactly the size of their waist or a bit shorter so it doesnt stretch out too big? im looking for some constructive criticism to help me out!!! thanks so much, Wendy
