Ok, this is my first attempt at appliques. The first thing I did was the name "Ariel" and I'm really proud of that. The next thing was the Ariel cutout from the fabric of the top and that was a little tricky, but I managed. Then I did Sebastian... now that was rough. I thought it would be easy since it's all one color, except the eyes. Actually, in hindsight, it should have been easy. I just made it complicated by not knowing how to finish the inside lines. I think it looks horrible, but Sarah loves it and that's all that matters. Anyway this is my first one, I have another one to do and it will be a little different.

BTW, don't look too closely!!!! All constructive criticism and advice will be gratiously accepted!

ETA: I CASEd this from here, I think it was revrob or Tink that made one similar for their dd.

You did a great job on the appliques! I'm impressed!

I was wondering - does anyone here know what a Cricut is? It is a die cut machine for scrapbooking/cardmaking. Anyway, I own one and thought I would see if anyone knows if it will cut material. Thought I would ask if anyone knew before I try and mess up a blade - LOL. They have a disney cartridge - not to mention all the other cartridges - oh the possibilities! It would make cutting out an applique really easy!!!
Lori

EDIT: IT CUTS!!!! You guys HAVE to check this machine out!!! I may have to get the Disney Cartridge!!! It cut it all in secions - PERFECT for applique! You have to apply an interfacing first though to stiffen the fabric! I am off to a hair appointment for DD - but when I get back I will post pics!!! She is cutting for Locks of Love for the second time.

Well I am pleased to say that DB actually sent me a picture via the cell phone of DN3 in her JoJo outfit at WDW :thumbsup2 I don't know if she was wearing the shoes and I didn't ask. He said she had a great time and JoJo at MGM made a fuss over her outfit :cool1:

I am a happy camper :yay:

THat is good news! I am so glad that she got to wear her outfit!

   (three banana min.)

I finally have enoughj posts to share some things I've done. My budget isn't glad I found this board, but my dds & I sure are!

This is my first applique & my first patchwork work.

This is my first attempt at shirring. It was supposed to be a top for DD3, but she said it was too itchy & refused to wear it. So I changed the straps to be a halter & DD1 wears it as a dress. She's really getting the hang of this walking stuff so 'still' is not in her vocabulary.

Great Job! Thanks for sharing!

Here are a couple outfits for our trip. I can't take the credit - MIL made them, but I thought they were cute.

Just an idea  For all the kids with grumpy parents give their kids play doh and finger paints! Make sure you put it in a gift bag and show it to the kid as soon as you arrive at the party!:rotfl:

Kids should be kids! IMHO

OMG I always give play doh to my wicked step sisters kids!

Absolutely!

I have a grumpy brother in law and for each of his kids' birthdays I give the loudest most obnoxious toys I can...taser guns, popcorn popper, anything with a pull-string and repetative noises, or BARNEY("I love You, You love me....")

How much tulle do you think I need to make this? I want to do it in pale blue to match a Cinderella outfit. Thanks

I did this tutu last year using 6 inch wide rolls. I think I ended up using 65-75 yards.

For the length and fullness of the tutu shown, I'd at least double that amount. Using the 6 inch rolls is quicker but the wider tulle can be used, too, by cutting into strips 6-8" wide. I cut 6" wide strips into pieces double the length I want for the tutu, fold in half and then knot them onto the elastic for the waistband. Sometimes I cut the ends to a point before knotting them. That makes a cute edge that is more "finished" looking. I used this method for the knots: http://www.gophotography.com/tutu/ I prefer using wider elastic than shown in the tutorial because it doesn't get stretched out of shape as easily.

Wow you ladies have been doing some INCREDIBLE work!:goodvibes

I just got back from Baltimore where I met some of my DIS friends, and my princess wore this outfit on the "Duck Tour". I got lots of great comments from everyone.

Keep up the great work everyone!
I might get to work on some projects next week!

Ooooo! Add that to my wish list.

I'm really disappointed in you girls, I was hoping for some direction w/ the minnie dot outfit-It's just not working out the way it did in my head.

TOTALLY OT: Just realized that my inlaws changing us to an off property hotel cancels my extra magic hours plans INCLUDING the magical beginnings. I'm tempted to get a room at a moderate just to be able to go- is that totally insane???

...t.

What are you having trouble with? I must have missed it.

What is Magical beginnings?

Glad to hear you had fun in our neck of the woods. Saturday was pretty nice too! The duck is too funny. That is one of those things that is on our list of things to do.

The outfit was very appropriate.

This is very similar to my moms machine, I would put it right around 1940, my moms is a 41. Though hers is mint and works like a charm

The outfit isn't finished but as promised here is a work in progress.

I am not very happy with the top. Mind you I pretty much made this pattern myself modifying patterns I had. I think I cut the top to straight it may have needed a little bit of an A line. Also, DMIL and I had different opinions about the fullness of the bottom ruffle. The pant ruffles are currently cut the same but I am going to redo them more like the top ruffle.

Is it too plain?? Ideas anyone?
...t.
The picture isn't showing up.

Oh no no no no you did not just do this to me. Here I was happy I didn't need one of those because I do digital scrapbooking not paper. Oh well goodbye money. :rotfl2: That is so cool your DD is doing LofL again. I did that last year after my pregnancy and I am sure I will do it again if we have another one. I won't cut my hair when I am PG because I think the hormones would make me get an ugly haircut. ha ha, I know I am a strange one.

SO cute! The other one is cute too but, I just love the old fashion minnie with the flower look.

Good job, was it hard to do the denim?

OH I forgot to add. I worked on my WinnieTP outfit last night. My sewing machine hates me. It would randomly start sewing, oh about, 30 stitches per inch. Here is what I think people will say when they see it. "Aw did you make that yourself? Bless your heart."
Oh well he can wear it for 3 hours at our CP breakfast and MK and then I will throw the stupid thing in the trash. I named my seam ripper Beavis last night, any guesses at what my sewing machine is now named? LOL

Here's the twirly dress I won on the auction site that shall not be mentioned :rotfl:. I think it turned out really cute, and considering one just sold for twice what I paid, I'm really happy with it!

Congratulations to your DD!!

Did you *have* to post this? I've seen those machines in the store and always wondered if they would work for fabric but figured since they were for paper probably not. Didn't need *another* thing to add to my wish list.

*sigh* :rotfl2: ;)

Our zoo has cows, two of them, Daisy and Rose, we love the farm exhibit at the National Zoo here in Washington. I'm beginning to think that we have a close personal relation ship with the donkeys there, we know them all by name too.

if my sewing machine Kenmore is a high or low foot? I am looking at a ruffler for it. TIA
Lori
