Here's the twirly dress I won on the auction site that shall not be mentioned :rotfl:. I think it turned out really cute, and considering one just sold for twice what I paid, I'm really happy with it!

What are you having trouble with? I must have missed it.

What is Magical beginnings?

Here's my earlier post- hopefully you can see the picture. I am really wanting to just scrap the top and start over-DD loves the pants, though they're being held up by some elastic tied around her waist in the picture. I have to take the legs up a bit to fit the ruffle though.
The outfit isn't finished but as promised here is a work in progress.

I am not very happy with the top. Mind you I pretty much made this pattern myself modifying patterns I had. I think I cut the top to straight it may have needed a little bit of an A line. Also, DMIL and I had different opinions about the fullness of the bottom ruffle. The pant ruffles are currently cut the same but I am going to redo them more like the top ruffle.

Is it too plain?? Ideas anyone?

The cricut machine thingie has long been on my wish list.
For scrapbooking.
which I never get around to doing. Well, I finished my scrapbook for my 2005 trip.

but to know that it works on fabric!
argh!

you people are evil! :)

t-beri - I posted that I like the bottom ruffle as it is.

but I like the top ruffle too.

Still no pic for me?

lazydazy- LOVE the decoupage jean set and peasant top. I love that it is disnefied without being over the top.

Olliegirl- Adorable halloween mickey tees. Do you do one for Christmas as well? I would love to see since we are going in Dec. We used to live in So.Cal for 5 years, but came back home to the Midwest.

Here are my 2 girls in their back to school outfits.

Here is the Halloween twirl skirt that I finished for my DD7, now I have to work on the one for DD5.

This is the peasant top for DD5. Do you all like the MM head centered or down to the side?

And best of all. I went on a walk with my son this am and look what I found in someone's trash. I don't normally go dumpster diving, but this was right beside their trash can at the end of their long driveway. I had to clean it up a bit but I thought it would be a pretty awesome decoration in my sewing room.

Keep making me laugh girls. I love reading all your comments on life and everything else.

Adorable creations!!!!

You know... that Singer might be worth something! It looks pretty beat up, but if it's a Singer Feather Weight, you might be able to get some money for it! I had one that my grandma gave me, kept it as a decoration, but was much more fond of the $400 bucks I got for it. I was willing to part with it at that point ;)

I am glad that you found it. I could not remember but I figured for $5 it was not a big deal to pick it up. I am not sure if I should keep it. I could take it over to :wizard: but the more I look at it the more I like it.
By the way how many Halloween outfits does one child need?
When do you start puttin Halloween outfits on your kids? Before this year they had one Old Navy tee shirt and this year they are going to have a bunch of outfits!

So far DD has 2 halloween outfits and one more in the works. Then I found the cute trick or treat fabric!! So that will make 4 for my cutie! Poor DS doesen't have any yet! (He's not 2 yet) I think I'll have to start dressing her in the outfits in the end of September so she can wear them a few times!! I was the same way last year a tee or two from target and that was it! I think Halloween is one of my favorite holidays though and I keep finding such cute fabric!!

I was wondering - does anyone here know what a Cricut is? It is a die cut machine for scrapbooking/cardmaking. Anyway, I own one and thought I would see if anyone knows if it will cut material. Thought I would ask if anyone knew before I try and mess up a blade - LOL. They have a disney cartridge - not to mention all the other cartridges - oh the possibilities! It would make cutting out an applique really easy!!!
Lori

EDIT: IT CUTS!!!! You guys HAVE to check this machine out!!! I may have to get the Disney Cartridge!!! It cut it all in secions - PERFECT for applique! You have to apply an interfacing first though to stiffen the fabric! I am off to a hair appointment for DD - but when I get back I will post pics!!! She is cutting for Locks of Love for the second time.

I have a Sizzix but have never been really happy with the selection of dies, especially for alphabets. I have heard nothing but good things about the cricut and now that I know you can do appliques with it, it's going on my wish list!

Thank you. I should have thanked you before.

Happy birthday! I think the outfit looks great but it looks like the dots don't match up on the sides. :rolleyes1 I'm just kidding of course: I think it's great and I love the yellow ruffles!

Awww it's really cute.
I think before you thought it looked plain. I think black and white ribbon or something would look cute with it. Maybe a check or small dot. Maybe along the ruffle or something. There can never be enough mickey heads either. :)

I like the fabrics you used. The yellow is very pretty with the red dots. I think you could applique a Black Minnie head with a bow. Or add some black rick rack around the bottom of the shirt above the ruffle. I think the bottom ruffle is pretty.

I think what you said about the top being narrow is correct.

The pants are very cute. They will be great with the matching ruffle.

Your DD is adorable.

Thank you for the birthday wishes..It's a big one I was hoping to ignore but my family inists on cake-cause I NEED that!!!

Yeah, I think it's a little plain. I think I'd prefer the bottom ruffle smaller and more ruffley and the shirt seems to fit weird, like maybe it's too straight. I kinda just want to throw it away and start over

HEY, LAY OFF MY DOTS STEPH!!!

I think it looks cute and the ruffle on the pants will be just the right finishing touch. I think more of an A line cut of the top is something to consider for the next one but I don't think it looks too narrow.

Could you please tell me where you got the yellow polka dot fabric?
I am so gonna case these!

I found it at Walmart a few months ago. Not the best quality in the world, but when I ran out and wanted more for a pillowcase, it was gone. And I can't find anything like it at Hancock or Joanns. :sad2: I like it with the red Minnie dot - just wish my Walmart still had it.

I think you have a great start!

I love the minnie dot and yellow. I think the top is a little long. You could shorten the top. I would also add some contrasting ribbon or ric rac. Black would be nice along the ruffle seems. You could make a really cute bigger bow for one shoulder.

I would also shorten the pants and add the same yellow ruffle and black rick rack. I think the outfit is coming along really nice. Personally I have found the minnie dot is very loud once you lay it out. I have had a couple things planned and then said no too much minnie. I did not know that could be a thing!

hi -

this might be a silly question - but i think you all can answer it for me,,,,

when making patches or appliques - do you wash the fabric first? how do you put backing on it? when you sew the applique on, any tips for beginners???? please????

any ideas for a very simple top - can be sleeveless, but no halter style (just doesnt work for my neices) i got this really cool patchwork rainbow material at walmart, and it would go awesome with jeans,,,,just not positive what to do with it!!!

thanks, wendy
