Okay I am just wondering why it said origionally posted by camping griswalds? That is me, but I didn't ask this. Are the boards going crazy??

I noticed that, too. I was the one who asked, but it was your name that came up as originally posted by. Hey, as long as my question was answered, the boards can say Mickey Mouse himself asked!

OK, I have been having an insane day, but seeing that pattern just made me laugh so loud my kids think there is something wrong with me! LMBO, that is hilarious, thanks for the laugh Teresa!

OK, you ladies have been really brutal today about the pictures...I know I said noon but my kids have been making me crazy! :upsidedow Here are a couple of pictures of the outfit:

(PLEASE do not copy my pictures of my DD...I am firmly in the camp that the pictures of our children that are being shared here should stay here. Not trying to be mean or start a huge discussion, just asking for your consideration. Thanks for understanding! :) )

So let me know what you all think, I gotta tell you this one of my favorites out of my recent designs! Minnie ears and bows, small world/epcot...all wrapped up into one outfit! I have struggled with what to put on DD when we visit Epcot and I think this will be perfect!

Dena
You know I love it! Your dd is beautiful.:thumbsup2

I am soooo indecisive! I won this dress on eBay, but I'm debating getting it like it is, or with one less tier to make it shorter and less full.

shorter.jpg

The picture on the left in the original version with 3 tiers and a ruffle. On the right, I "photoshopped" one tier out :) so its 2 plus the ruffle. What do you all think? My concern is that my DD will just be 3 and that the longer dress may be too long, and too full, and too HOT for a September trip. Does the shorter version look funny? Does it take away from the whole look of the dress?

I can't decide! The girl who makes the dress has been super nice and helpful, but I'm sure she thinks I'm crazy by now!

Any thoughts? Thanks! :flower3:

I agree with the others...get the longer one. IF it turns out she's too hot in the long skirt, take along some nice big safety pins (you know, the diaper kind) and just pin it up in the "swirls" that the princesses wear...that'll let cool air in but she'll still be cute and twirly.

Plus...I speak from personal experience here.....she is NOT going to be that small forever.....and it looks like there is a waistband that will fit her for a bit, so the extra length will be quite welcome next year. My girls (twins) seemed to grow inches a month sometimes, yet many of their clothes still fit waist/chest wise, just some of their jeans were suddenly long capris (or floods if you're old enough to remember that hateful phrase, lol). In fact, the dress up dresses that I bought when they were 4 or 5 now FIT them.....it's pretty scary to look at photos of the dresses dragging on the ground and now they're wearing them.....but even scarier is a dress that a friend made them for a special occasion STILL FITS as a shirt. It was big and flowy 5 years ago, but now it's rather form fitting and just barely long enough, hitting just below their belt.

Enjoy them while they're young....one morning you'll wake up and wonder where these newly 11 year old kids came from! (Yep...I'm feeling very sad that my babies just turned 11)

I haven't accomplished much in the way of sewing lately, but I did manage to get DD2's JoJo bow made. The JoJo face is made out of polymer clay.

Can someone pretty please tell me what store I can find this material, actually any of the around the world fabric. I really don't want to buy it off of Ebay.

The "Friends Around the World" fabric was still at my local Hancock Fabrics as recently as a week ago. They had plenty. I've only ever seen it there.

I LOOOOVE it!!! Thanks for sharing it!

How about the ribbon shirt that someone posted a few pages back. The one that has a mickey head on the end of each ribbon, but there is like a black ribbon, a yellow ribbon and a red ribbon, each with a mickey head? It would tie in so cute with the colors of the dress!

Here you go... I was think the same thing! :thumbsup2

Dena -- Very Cute outfit!!

I'm happy my Dalmation fabric *finally* came in the mail today!!!! :cool1: I was beginning to wonder if they would show up. Maybe this weekend I can spruce up my top (although still need to wait for Cruella to show up).

Anyway another question -- way, way back I think someone asked about the Disney embroidery machines you can get -- I'm thinking I might want to ask Santa for something like that. I just can't remember what the consensus was if that was a good machine or if there was something better that wasn't a fortune.

I was attempting to get my regular machine to do something of that nature and it did NOT work.

Dena...this is outstanding...really pleasing round of colors and I love the appliques! I assume you made them too....excellent work! Sorry we were so pushy...we are addicted! I gotta finish my scrapbooking (of our recent trip) so I can pull out my sewing machine! :rotfl:

Does anyone know of a pattern # for a dress similiar to Ariel's Pink Party Dress?

here are a few pictures of her to give you an idea

I've been looking for a couple months now at every pattern website and in-store book, and have found many that "might" work if I took the sleeves from this one, the bodice from that one, etc...but I'm not that confident of my sewing skills (I'm a great quilter, but clothes, well, not as much experience). She's a size 10/12. I've seen the Simplicity costumes, but even if I could handle resizing it, they are the mermaid costume or the wedding dress which she doesn't want. Picky kid! :rotfl2:

Dena - how funny. I am literally in the middle of making an outfit that looks exactly the same!!!! The pieces were cut out this morning and I'm starting sewing this afternoon. But the appliques will be different because I just can't do that level yet. How funny!! Keep in mind I've only sew two outfits before this one so it won't look nearly as good :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Beautiful job

PS I won't transfer the pics of your dd :thumbsup2

Thanks for all of your compliments ladies! Of course I was joking when I said you were being brutal...some of the PM's I got were pretty funny though! :rotfl2:

I usually keep the first outfit every time I make one, then just offer it in a custom size when/if I do list it, that will be the case with this one too!

I was hoping this would work well for Epcot or It's a Small World, since there are so few Epcot outfits out there! :)

I have not seen a pattern that would work for Ariels party dress, but am sure you would be able to put it together...if you can find a pattern for the bodice/sleeves that you like you can easily switch out the skirts...I will take a look at some of the patterns available later for you.

Looks like the Toledo area Hancock Fabrics meet will be on Monday,
August 20th. One member will not be able to make that date, so I will try to set up a different meet for you, I am sorry! :sad1:

Dena

No No No!! Run, Run, Run away...run fast. This is an addiction, do not allow yourself to be sucked in! :rotfl2: Get out while you still can! Oh no, it's probably already too late, you made an outfit! Save yourself, get out now!

Seriously, you're going to start making clothes for kids you don't even have if you keep this up! We're all mad....the Mad Hatter even thinks we're nuts!

:rotfl2:

But...hey, really cute outfit! :cheer2:

It's too late. I'm already working on a second shirt for myself. I'll post it as soon as I'm done. I leave in less than 40 hours for 2 weeks at WDW and instead of packing, I'm making shirts!

Here's a picture of my family all dressed up on a Peter Pan theme this past H'ween. Me and/or my mom made everything except Wendy. My boys loved dressing up as Peter Pan so much they're obsessed and want to do it again this H'ween. I'm a little bummed because I was looking forward to making some new costumes. :sad2:
