Edit: I wasn't clear as we are doing Boma breakfast the day after the Christmas party. In a perfect world, we would park for our Boma breakfast, bus to Poly, monorail the resorts, and either go to Wilderness Lodge (depending on tiredness) or go back to AKL for our car. I've always read that Disney had a strict 3 hour parking for ADR guests at resorts. Since we are not "going" to the parks, we decided to save the $800 on the hotel stay and stay off site.

Attending the Christmas Party Nov 14th. Staying off site since we are not going to the parks. Party of 5

First time staying off site - usually DVC rental so we just hop on a bus and go.

Plan to book an ADR breakfast at Boma and then see the animals. How would you recommend resort hoping to see other decorations? Prefer to go to the monorail loop to make it easy. With the 3 hour limit, I’ve can’t hop on the bus at AKL.

Not trying to break the rules but figure out easiest way to accomplish this. Uber (we have a rental so I’d prefer not to). Thoughts?

Absolutely agree - drive to AKL Jambo for breakfast/animals/decorations (the Jambo lobby is spectacular at Christmas), then drive to TTC/MK parking. Your car will be within easy reach at the end of the MK day. In between, you could take the monorail or a bus or a boat from MK to just about any other resort you might like to see!

There is no “3 hour limit” most of the time. I’ve parked at resorts all day after an ADR with no issue, even at the Contemporary.

The only place I’ve heard of with this is the Grand Floridian where they make you park across the street if you have an ADR and give you a 3-hour pass for the cast member lot there.

I've always heard and read that there is a time limit for how long you can park at resorts if you have an ADR. I thought it was 2 hours but I looked before I posted and folks are now saying 3 hours.

What are you thinking of beside TTC? It’s like the only thing that even make sense for you. That way your car will be exactly where you need it when you collapse after the party.

There is no "bus to Poly" from AKL. So you may as well take the car to the TTC and then continue with your plans to visit the monorail resorts and WL. Then just go back to MK/TTC for your car, which will be closer than having to find a bus to AKL since there are no resort-to-resort buses.

The choice is either a bus ride to AKL at the end of the night or a monorail (and probably tram) ride to the TTC lot at the end of the night.

Either one would probably take the same amount of time, the only difference is that OP would be out $30 if not an AP and choosing the second option.

Where are you going when you are done with the resort tours? It is also easier to have your car nearby......

if your offsite hotel is close enough, you could also uber to AKL and then bus to MK for the monorail resorts and uber back to your hotel to pick up your luggage......if that will be cheaper than the theme park parking....

Most of the time there isn’t one.

Oof, I didn’t even consider shuttling out to AKL to be an appropriate option with how far it is! But I guess it is. I clocked it at 25 mins by bus when I stayed there and came back from a MVMCP. You couldn’t pay me to pick that option over paying the Mouse for TTC if I wasn’t staying AKL.

I guess it also depends on where OP's offsite property is. If it's somewhere off 192, AKL would be closer to that.

It makes no sense to leave a car at AKL regardless of whether there is a time limit for parking. OP would still need to take 2 modes of transportation to get back to a car parked at AKL because there are no resort-to-resort buses.
  • ends resort hopping at a monorail resort = bus to AK then bus to AKL, or monorail to MK then bus to AKL
  • end resort hopping at WL = bus to AK then bus to AKL, or boat to MK and bus to AKL

Bus to MK from AKL, do the monorail loop, boat from MK to WL, bus to AK, bus to AKL. Or park at Disney Springs and bus to Poly from there, do the monorail loop, boat to WL, bus back to Disney Springs.
