Just back.. TIP FOR MAIN ST

If you are getting the pixie dust only, they spray hair spray on your hair then sprinkle the pixie dust over it to hold it in place and they another shot of spray over the top. No gel.

I have a photo too...but it's too big to post. I have to spend some time figuring that out!

They put bright red gel in the front of DS's hair and spiked it straight up and then sprinkled the dust over it - the "dust" is just different colored foil Mickey icon heads...very cool!

I love hearing you don't have to have a haircut to get this done...last trip I deliberately put off the haircut so he could do it and I thought I was going to go crazy...his hair was so moppy by the time we did it! He just got his hair cut two weeks ago, but I told them my plans so they cut it in a way that I could justify having it done again on our trip.

One thing we noticed: If you let it completely dry (15 minutes??) it doesn't get on things. Although later that night when we tried to wash it out so he could go swimming, we had to shampoo four times. And he still had remnants left all week.

But what's a little red goo in your hair when you're at WDW??? :teeth:

haha! True!

My son is 3 1/2 and I asked him if he wanted to get his hair cut and then have pixie dust put in and colored gel. He said yes yes yes and then i'll fly like peter pan! Too cute!

Excellent! With gel or without, I think we'll have to go for it! No doubt my dd, too, will think this will enable her to finally fly like Peter Pan and Tinkerbell. I believe she considers it to be the biggest failure of her young life that she can't figure out how to fly like her "friends" in Peter Pan. She is constantly jumping off the bed, trying to "get it right this time".

I overheard her talking very seriously to my father one day, saying, "Papa, I want to fly like the fireflies, but I just can't make my bum light up!"

I think she's going to like Soarin'!

I'm waiting to take my DD for her first haircut!!

I'm hoping to do that too. She'll just have turned two when we go, and I'm hoping her hair really starts growing in the next nine months. She doesn't have real much right now.

I'm going to take this tip a step further I too got geled and dusted just last week walked into the barber shop about 9:15 and sat down less than 5 mins later I was done.

This was my last day in the parks so I got to wear my pixie dust home I left a trail of pixie dust from disney to home and continued to leave pieces of dust at home.

Yeah it falls off on my pillow at night I just carefully pick up the pillow and carry it where ever I want the dust at and shake it out on the floor I'm sure I'm gonna be finding pieces of magic in my house and van for a very long time.

Just a cheap easy way to spread the magic and if any of you ever used confetti in your home you know you find it everwhere for a very long time.

to get the free pixie dust put in your hair...what do you have to do?? walk in and tell them that we want pixie dust? also someone else asked about tipping for the pixie dust and i didn't see an answer so if anyone knows that would be great! thanks in advance

I asked before on a different thread, but never got a response. My hubby is bald, so just shaves his head. Do they do shaves in the barber shop?

Thanks for posting those! I so wanted to see what they looked like! I showed my son and he said "yep I want that"!

Can they do other colors besides green?

lol i had green, pink, and purple done for my 31st birthday lol with a glittery mickey on the back of my head. i had also had my head trimmed by them best time is early in the morning

Don't get the gel if rain is forecasted for the day. We got it done and shortly afterwards it started to rain, the gel was everywhere and ruined DS9 shirt. I ended up having a reaction to the gel and broke out in a rash. We had to leave the park to go wash it out. It is very cute as long as it has time to "set" a little and will hopefully stay were it is supposed to.

Yes they can do other colors, I've seen blue, red, and green.

:guilty: :guilty: :sad1: :sad1: I can't see the pictures! I've even copied and pasted from properties and still can't see them.

DD got this done in Aug on her Birthday. The barbershop was empty, no line. FYI we just got the Pixie Dust and it was $5 (not free as previously posted) I tipped $2. It was definitely worth it though. So much fun. :goodvibes
