Just Back from SSR Honest Report (Long)

Wow, how can this be discouraging!! Have you ever stayed at the SSR GV!?! Fantastic! I am jealous. Have a great trip!

Lol! I honestly have read such bad reviews of SSR that I almost changed to another DVC resort. But then I figured I need to try it out for myself and I'm so excited about the GV there! It took a lot of points but it's worth it! I'[m just thankful to read of a good review after all the complaints!

That's funny though too about the "taking all the family members!" It's crazy - my real dad, step mom, 13 year old brother, real mom, step dad, brother, two of his friends, myself, husband and 3 month old son. I'm happy to say they're all fun to be around, can't wait for the trip and they all get along!

I am glad to hear other people are having a good time at SSR, I was beginning to think my trip last year was luck with all of the bad things I had read as well, I know my trip in May will be good as well now. How much is the bike rental?

Don't let the bad reviews discourage you. Honestly, I have stayed six times and all have been fantastic! Sometimes I wonder if those people have really stayed at the same resort I've stayed. All the minus they list I view as a positive. It is a spread out resort, but I find that nice. It never feels crowded. It is very quiet after a crazy day at the parks, and definitely peaceful.

We were there for DEc 31 - Jan 3 and absolutely fell in love with SSR. Good thing since we bought more than 300 points at SSR! Cant wait to go back next year!!

We just got back yesterday from out trip home. We were their from Jan 5th - 13th. We had a great time. We stayed over in the Grandstand section. This is a good section if you have small children. The pool in this section is not that deep around 4 feet at its max depth. Next to the pool is a little pad with sprinklers and horses that spray water. It's great for the younger kids. Our 3 year old had a blast.
We had one request, to be next to a bus stop. Mother-in-law was with us. We were right next to a bus stop. Room was very nice. The layout was a little different from any of the rooms we ever stayed in before. There was no bar in the kitchen. Not having the bar was no big deal we just never saw a two bedroom with this layout. We were the first stop for pick-up and drop-off which was nice. Buses were not crowded, toward the end of the week more folks showed up for the marathon. We are looking forward to our next trip back. Not sure if we are going to stay in another Home or not. We like SSR.

Yaaayy! Another great SSR report. That is why we LOVE SSR, so relaxing and it gets you out of the hustle and bustle of the parks. I love being a quick trip away from DTD as well. I guess it's all in how you vacation. We've not "de-volved" from park commandos to a few hours at one park a day and like spending the time at the resorts. Can't wait to head back!.. 15 months and counting.

SSR is our home resort and we stayed there 3 times, each visit was great.
I too love the peace and relax fee of this resort. We have stayed at different times of the year in May, Sept, and Dec. and with each trip still no problems.
Try out the Spa a real treat.

We too are owners and have enjoyed three glorious trips with no issues even worth mentioning they were so minor. We are SO PLEASED that SSR is our main home resort because it has the "long term feel" for us. I can just tell we will never tire of it - not excessively themed - just tastefully - sprawling serenity when you just want to enjoy a scenic, relaxing walk - close enough to the action of DTD but not invaded by it - to us - the perfect blend of Disney at your doorstep but not enveloping you!

AAAH. . .I want to go home!

I have stayed at SSR during Christmas, and had a wonderful time in the Grandstand section. We liked it well enough to use our Marriott week to trade in to SSR the end of February, in a one bedroom, and asked for the Grandstand section again. I am happy about that, as all of our stays there have been so relaxing. And I love the new buses that "kneel" for those of us with arthritic knees I own at BW and OKW, but we like SSR enough that DH would like to buy in there!
