June 30 2012 NYC Anyone?

Just looking a pics here on the Dis.. 317 days and we will be on the boat! I can't wait for more details to come out! :goodvibes

We just got back from a 5-night, 10-day trip to WDW. Thanks Hurricane Irene!!! It was an unexpected, awesome treat - trip insurance covered everything except the park tickets --- and they were only $8 a day!!!!!!!!

But this time around I'm not feeling so sad to be home - because we have this cruise to look forward to! I'm so glad we get one day in the parks - it isn't Disney without Splash Mountain for me.

Since this is our first cruise, I know I have a lot to learn. I know we can do pin trading and look for Hidden Mickeys on board. But what other "traditional", Disney-geeky things do I need to plan for? Pirates night? Fish extenders???? I need to be ready, and getting ready is part of the fun and excitement.

So what are your best tips to make the cruise super-special? My DH and I celebrate our anniversary (our 16th) on July 4th.

Thanks! Looking forward to meeting you onboard!!

Hi Lorri!

I have only done one cruise in 2008 but it was so fun!!! We did Fish Exchange which was a blast! My only complaint? 4 nights was TOO SHORT!

What a great way to celebrate your anniversary! It looks like we will be on Castaway that day which would be the perfect way to celebrate!

Looking forward to getting to know you!

My DH and I love scuba diving and we are definitely visiting our buddy Stuart Coves in Nassau for a 2-tank dive. Any other divers out there up for it? I wonder if we can do the shark dive? It's so much fun, and you can get great photos and videos!

Our son will be 12 by the time we cruise - he's not a diver yet. He's already decided we are going to the Magic Kingdom on our Disney day. OK by me! Is it really possible to park hop in such a short time frame?

I wonder how we start the "fish extender" thing? Is there something official we have to do?

Looking forward to this. It will be our 5th cruise, but first Disney Cruise. Can't wait!!!!!

Lorri

Just made my reservation for this cruise last night. I'm looking forward to trying a longer cruise (been on a 4-night Wonder and a 5-night Dream cruise) as well as returning to CC and having a chance to sail on the Magic. I was on the Dream in July and loved it but just felt I didn't have enough time to enjoy relaxing on the ship. Plus the Dream felt too big compared to the Wonder. So I figure an 8-night on the Magic should cover all of the things I want, except a 2nd day at CC. But that's OK b/c I have a future ressie for another Dream cruise to do that.

gummie22 - it is possible to park hop in such a short time frame. I've done all 4 parks in one day. You just can't expect to get a lot of things done. I'm thinking of doing 3 parks on our 1 day at WDW depending on how late the buses pick up.

We made it to October! 1 month closer to cruising!:goodvibes

New user to the forum. We're booked on the June 30th cruise out of NYC and way excited! This will be our fourth Disney cruise. We are DVC members, too. We love Disney! :yay:

We just got back from WDW no hurricane but Sat. Oct 8 it poured rain all day, which didn't stop us put ponchos on instead of sunblock :goodvibes

I didn't have the normal leaving Disney withdrawal blues this time knowing once we got back I would start planning for the cruise. We did start thinking about which park we were going to go to on the cruise, we may opt for the hopper do MK and Epcot.

July 3rd I will celebrating half a century :scared1: and we also will be celebrating dd college graduation :cool1:

What are fish extenders??

We would love to go diving as I am certified - DH has tried it out but hasn't gotten certified but we will be traveling with our then 19 month old so I don't think that it will work for us on this cruise!

Here is a link for Fish Extenders... We did it on our cruise in 2008 and it was a lot of fun!

Nice to see there are more of us!!!

We are trying to decide if we will stay in NJ the night before and get transportation to the port or stay in Newburgh and do the limo from there.. I can't wait!

thanks for the FE info, now I am armed and dangerous. I know it is way to early but do we have a group name or theme, preparing for a long winter with nothing to do but get ready for the cruise.

We will be staying in Jersey the night before the cruise (we are only 1/2 or so without traffic from the port) we will be doing car service.

Again way too early but how are port arrival times decided?

I hate being a newbie :sad1:

I was wondering about Port Arrival times myself... Hopefully more details will come soon!:confused3

We live about 45 minutes from the port in NJ so we will use a car service to take us in that morning - unless we can convince my parents to drive us! I'm not sure what time either -
I think that we need to come up with a name for our little group too! I am already collecting tons of stuff for the cruise - got my Mickey Mouse for signature set aside for our daughter's easter basket... and starting to collect little toys to bring - even got a bucket set for super cheapo price at the end of the summer... now I am just searching for the perfect Pirate accessories while it is Halloween season now... So excited for this cruise! Our first real family vacation!

Hi, We are looking forward to our 1st Disney cruise. We'll be a party of five...kids will be 10, 9, 6. We will be traveling with my brother and his family (kids will be 11 and 6) as well as my parents. I look forward to reading these posts and picking your minds.

Denise

Hi Denise!

We are doing a similar family trip! My family with my girls who will be 10 and 6, my brother and his family and my parents! We are so excited!! :cool1:

Looking forward to getting to know you!

I'm planning on making our ressies in the next two weeks...just got a little sidelined on the finances. It will be me, DH (never been on a DCL cruise) and DS. DS and I were on the Wonder....almost 8 years ago!

We will be celebrating his HS graduation and 18th bday and my MBA graduation. :cheer2:

Anty, I think we are neighbors!

Hello everyone!!!

My family and I will be on board!! Which includes myself, DH and DD (11). I am super excited. This will be our first Disney cruise. We have cruised in the past, but I wanted to do a Disney cruise before my daughter gets to old. We are major Disney fans and also belong to Disney Vacation Club. This past September, we surprised my daughter for her birthday with a trip to WDW for the MNSSHP. It was great!!

I do not know how I even missed this thread. I am on here all the time...We are from Albany NY and plan on driving down to the port and parking the car for the week. I have a countdown already started and every week I change my screen saver at work of a different Disney cruise picture...My co-workers think I am a little crazy (not crazy, just super excited).

I have read about the fish extenders and we will so do it if others are on board!! I was just reading through the other posts and it looks like a great bunch a people will be on board!!!!

Hey Kimmy's Mom! We live just outside Lake Placid! My DD will be 10 - 11 in August! :goodvibes

We are SO excited as well!

Did anyone else get their info packet from DCL recently? Got mine in the mail last week and started to really get excited about this cruise.

Based on the info in the packet I changed my departure flight time since it said to not book the flight for before 1:30 if using DCL transfers. I originally booked my flight using the time frame they usually use for Orlando. Oh well! At least I've got airfare and transfers booked! Really looking forward to relaxing on this cruise!
