July 2012 Resort and ADR Lists Thread...Countdown to Disney!

We plan almost every day, but we do leave one break day open to wing it. The only thing we really plan that day is our ADR.

We begin our drive down TONIGHT!

I woke up at 6:30 AM..needless to say, I'm going to be a little tired on the drive down...I was too excited to sleep!:yay:

whooooooooooo hoooooooooooooooooooooooooo:cool1:

Do you plan each day at Disney or kind of wing it?

We have a basic plan as far as which parks on which days, but there is plenty of room for changes. I always get parkhoppers so it is easier to change plans last minute. It just makes me feel more "free". If MK gets too busy, we hop somewhere else. We have a general touring plan based on which rides get busy the earliest, then just do everything else when we feel like it. This has worked out well for us in February....we will see what happens in July :scared1:

Might have to hit you up for cruise advice for next year... Never been on a cruise before. Hope it's fun!

Feel free to ask me any cruise questions. I have been on 14 cruises! None were on Disney Cruise Line, but there are plenty of general cruise topics I can help you with, for sure.

Here's a small piece of it...there is a LOT of food on cruises, and you will want to try it all. The key is to "stretch" your stomach before you go but to either maintain or lose weight at the same time, in preparation for both big eating and weight gain (temporary of course...you will lose it when you get home). To do this, eat lots and lots of salads, veggies and fruits before you go...you know, large volumes of low-cal foods. And take the stairs whenever you possibly can instead of the elevator. I gained 11 pounds on my cruise last summer! But it came off very quickly once I came home and went back to normal eating! :rotfl2:

We're also going to do a cruise next summer, out of NY for my parents' 40th aanniversary (next July)! Not Disney though...probably Carnival.

Question of the day...

Do you plan each day at Disney or kind of wing it?

I strategically plan out every single theme park day. I make ADRs 180 days in advance, and tweak as necessary. We have two "free" days when I have no plans except a dinner ADR (and a 10am breakfast one the other day in addition to the dinner ADR), so we can wake up whenever we want and just hang out at the pool or relax or do whatever we feel like doing that day, but no theme park. OK so on one of our free days we are going to Garden Grill at Epcot that evening for dinner, so technically we are going to a theme park, but we are just going to wing it that evening, probably shop around the World Showcase and check out the countries. OK so even on free days I have a sort of plan! :goodvibes

Yeah OK, I guess I'm an uber-planner! :rotfl:

We are getting there. Four more days. We leave super early Monday morning for our flight. We have to be up at 4:00 am. Ugh! Not going to enjoy that but then we will be at Disney earlier in the day so I can't really complain. Still have to get my pedicure, finishing packing, get the kids carry-ons together and do the scavenger hunt to surprise the kids with Disney. It's going to be a very busy few days.:yay::dance3::cool1:

I hear ya with being busy! DH is painting right now (painted the living room already, now painting the upstairs hallway), and the house is in complete disarray because of it. I am not a neat person (always clean, but there's always clutter), but this is driving me crazy! We leave in one week from today, and I feel like this house will not look normal by then. But, in the back of my mind I know it will. I have to leave the house perfect before we leave on vacation so that we come home to a nice beautiful clean house.

I went to the salon this morning and got my roots touched up, and a much needed haircut. Now my hair is ready for Disney! ;) I have a mani/pedi appointment on the day before we leave at 3pm. I am getting a gel manicure with Mickey ears on the ring fingers (nails are completely dry when I leave the salon which I love!), and a regular pedicure with Mickey ears on the toes. I think I am finished with the shopping for this trip. Everyone has all the clothes they need, I made separate packing lists for everyone and one for toiletries. Monday I will start cleaning the house, and continue Tuesday. Tuesday I will do all the laundry, pack the kids' things and maybe mine, or I will pack my stuff on Wednesday morning. We always order pizza the night before vacation so Tuesday is the last night I have to cook for a while! And next Thursday DH and I wake up at 4am, get dressed and ready, pack all the last-minute toiletries, pack the car, wake the kids and get them dressed, pack their last minute toiletries, have a very light snack at home, and hit the road! We go first to the local bagel store and get some bagels for when we stop about 3 hours into the trip for our real breakfast, and DH and I each get an iced coffee to have in the car. We usually stop around Baltimore to eat our bagels, grab a cup of coffee, hit the rest room and gas up the car. It's gonna be a long drive that first day, all the way from Brooklyn, NY to Florence, SC...GPS clocks it at 10 hours 41 minutes of driving. So I figure we will be there around 6pm with stopping to eat our bagels for breakfast, and stopping for a quick lunch, and any bathroom stops along the way.

We have only planned our ADR's for our dinners and which park we will be in each day. We are kind of leaving the rest up to our imagination based on the fact that we will only have three nights after a four night cruise. We are just looking to have an enjoyable time without too much pressure.

Yay!!!! And of course that means 48 hours before we board our flight 1st thing Sunday morning! Wahoo!

I, too, have to get through work today, but my boss isn't even in today and I have already completed her "get done before you go" list....so today may be a little bit of this :surfweb: and some of this :rolleyes1

:lmao::rotfl2: no, I'm not kidding though...

And then NO WORK UNTIL JULY 30TH!!!!!!

And that of course means, that we have about 72 hours until we board our plane! :cool1::cool1::cool1: The clues are done for the scavenger hunt. We are going to see Spiderman today and then we just have to get through the weekend. :cool1::cool1:

Question of the day...
What is one of your most magical Disney memories?

One of my family's most magical moments was last year when we took my daughter to Akershus to see the princesses. She wore her Belle dress and as we rounded the corner to where Belle was standing, DD could barely contain herself. She ran to Belle and Belle sat down on the ground and anticipated my DDs running hug. It was one of the sweetest moments I have witnessed. They whispered to each other and had their own private exchange. After that first encounter, the princesses were still awesome, but that moment was just magical with Belle!

My other magical moment was when my son walked down Main Street for the first time. I will never forget the look of wonderful and amazement on his face.

Can't wait for this year!

Question of the day...
What is one of your most magical Disney memories?

Two things come to mind....
1) DH and my honeymoon in 2002...there was remnants of a hurricane passing through and there were still torrential downpours and the parks were pretty cleared out...but we stayed...we bought ponchos, and we splashed in puddles, and we rode TOT 11 times without ever getting off. It's like we had the parks to ourselves for several days of our honeymoon. Despite the rain, it was magical. ::yes::

2) When DD5 (who was 3 at the time of her 1st trip) saw herself for the first time after being madeover at the BBB. OMG~ her little face just lit up, and DH was also in awe!!!! I cried.... ***this time my girls are doing the pirate makeovers*** :rotfl2:

We had reservation to eat at Liberty Tavern 5 years ago (When they had Character). Midori was asked to go upstairs with them and ring the dinner bell. After that, Midori and the whole gang had a group picture taken. Also Chip wrote in her autograph book, "Midori, I remember you from last year, do you remember when I took your bread and ran across the room with it?" WOW !!! that was very MAGICAL.

Honestly...my other trips have been total and complete disasters, not the fault of Disney though. So I'm hoping to make this time spectacular! pixiedust:

And I'm down to single digits!
