Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 6

I dont post often but wanted to say I thought Jon looked tired and really uninterested last night. I HATE when he says things about Joel. He called him something last night and rewinded it and listened twice hoping I had misunderstood. It was when they were walking in the pasture to fish and Joel was crying about something and Jon turned around and said you are so something (it amounted to you are a pansy, a wuss). UGHHH! You don't say that to your son, ever. He also "name dropped" in my opinion. Oh "they call me and I am like I am on Broadway, etc". Is that supposed to impress us, his kids, who? His kids want him home and they could care less nor do they even know what half of what he was saying is. I just felt he looked tired, bored and ready to get back to New York. I do think Kate is sincere about her feelings and while he says she ended it maybe she thought that would get him moving in her direction and not the opposite. Can you imagine leaving your kids and not knowing if he is going out, bringing girls home, etc? I would be going nuts, pure nuts. I was not going to watch last night but like many have said, it is like a train wreck. It is soooo odd to me that they never show kate in the kitchen. She was always in the kitchen before. Also, I think Mady is probably very upset, tire of the cameras, etc. I did not notice her with Kate, was she there for the movie? I did think Jon did good by letting her go with her grandmother. It got her away from camera and allowed her to enjoy time with her grandma.

Exactly...I will have a drink on occasion when DH and I got out to dinner but we do not drink at home. I won't/don't/will not drink in front of my son.

I think adults are entitled to a drink every now and again - there's nothing wrong with that so long as you're showing restraint and control.

As for drinking around the kids, there's nothing wrong with having a glass of wine with dinner - it's a good opprotunity to address it - especially now that the twins are getting older. I'd rather discuss it with my boys at home before they ever take a drink than pick one of them up from jail for getting a DUI or something (not saying that's going to happen to everyone - I pray it never happens to anyone!).

re: drinking at home ...

I thought about this for a minute after I made a couple of posts.

If Jon and Kate want to drink in their home, that's their business. Many, many people drink at home, and while I choose not to, that isn't where I intended the point of my posts to be directed.

The suggestion that Jon is the more laid back parent ... and is copacetic when he's got his beverages and "nanny" at home is what bothers me. We have no way to know what Jon or Kate does inside their home. We've never seen Jon or Kate drink, even though we know they both do. In fact, we seldom see any of the rumored behavior that's out there. There's no way for any of us to KNOW anything.

I agree - what happens in their house we don't until except for what's on the show. If you're being responsible that's fine. Do I think you should drink every night or in excess? Of course not. Every now and again I personally think it's ok.

I also agree that assuming one parent is more laid back than the other is not ok either. Just because there's been a picture of Kate spanking one of the girls doesn't mean Jon doesn't spank them either. I would like to think both J&K are both as involved as possible with the kids when they're there.

I'm not saying anything against people who drink in front of their children. I just choose not to. And I just wanted to point out just because he drinks in a bar doesn't mean he does it at home. As for addressing alcohol, it can be done without actually doing the act in front of them. JMO of course...just wanted to clarify that I wasn't being judgemental when I said I dont drink in front of my son.

I'm sorry and my post wasn't directed at you - I just happened to quote your post - I meant the "general you" and forgot to put that in there! Sorry!! :flower3:

Not a problem.

It's hard to type what you want and have people get what you mean!

that was the same thing I thought when I was reading back over what I said. I sounded like I was going in a totally different direction and sounded judgmental, which is not what I intended. LOL

I drink socially, but choose not to at home. I have a parent who drank at home and I think I turned out ok, but it's something I wanted to do with my own children.

She was in the kitchen last night, preparing the chicken, and they often show the kids at the table and Kate preparing their food. I assume not much cooking when they are filming, since the agreement (or so they have said) is that it's catered on filming nights.

I also agree that assuming one parent is more laid back than the other is not ok either. I've seen them both spank the kids and pull them by the arms. I don't think either of them is more laid back than the other, but I do think Kate appears to be enjoying the kids more, even when they are noisy.

I guess Kate's gone all week. The View M/T, Southern Women's Show Thursday in Charlotte, and I just heard she is doing THe View on Friday. I thought they taped Fridays show on Thursday, but I could be wrong.

Just posting this. It may mean something, or absolutely nothing:

http://www.myfoxphilly.com/dpp/entertainment/091509_Exclusive_Lawyer_Drops_Jon_Gosselin

For those of you who can't do the link, it says that Jon's lawyer filed a petition with the court to drop him as a client. Here, it's highly unusual for a lawyer to drop a client unless they're in a conflict of interest position that they can't get out of.

nice find!

I'm LOL at it being "breaking news". Really? This is breaking news?

I wonder if this has anything to do w/the new pix of him and Hailey kissing and the reports that she met the children this weekend.

I think they film Friday's show whenever .. usually Thursday, but not necessarily. I'm guessing they did it yesterday. We'll know when we see the hair. :lmao:

I didn't watch, but I must see this hair that you are talking about. My thought is "How can it get any worse?!" :rotfl: Does ABC post episodes online?

Overall, I thought Kate did a "good enough" job on the View. However, at the one point she had an audience member announce what was coming up after the commercial. Oh my, it looked so uncomfortable - I cringed!

Not sure what the rules are in PA, but having a stupid client isn't enough reason for the courts to allow you to drop them here. It's usually something internal to the firm eg. if the firm had represented Kate's PR company, which Jon wouldn't know when he retained them because of lawyer-client confidentiality. Again, that's the rule here.

But unless this was a planned switch ie. the firm allowed the lawyer to represent them in the preliminary phase, it could very well delay things a lot.

I think Jon called him whimpy, or something like that.

I thought I remembered seeing Mady at movie night. I'd have to watch again.

Kate seemed more relaxed on The View today. I'm not sure what I think about her hair...it's okay, but I actually think I prefer her usual do over this one.

I wonder if Barbara was scheduled to be on today or if she was on because of Patrick Swayze.

Maybe Kate's plan is to get a talk show and then end the TLC show. She said nothing is set in stone after this season. I can't picture her and Paula Deen together though. Seems like an odd pairing. I really like Paula Deen, but in small doses, I can only take so much of that laugh of hers.

I'm not sure if the whole episode can be seen online or not.

It wasn't her normal hair, and I didn't think she looked very comfortable when they mentioned it in the opening segment. I mean, love it or hate it, her hair's her thing, KWIM? I don't think I'd want anyone messing with that, if I were in her shoes.

Just saw it. People had it on my Reader. It was, interesting...

I didn't watch the "view" today but after reading the comments from here and talking to my friend it sounds like they tried to get Kate into the conversation today, especially about Patrick Swayze. My friend said Kate claimed that Patrick's two movies "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost" were two of her favorite movies. Amazing since she would of been about 11 or 12 when "Dirty Dancing" came out. She will say anything to toot her own horn.
She also thinks Dr. Phil was there to shield her. She said Barbara really wanted answers and the "um" was starting to show up more and more. She also felt that on last nights show they showed Kate as the "fun" parent and Jon as the "not fun" parent. No wonder the guy wants her to tell the truth. She adjusts her answer to whomever asks the question.
Jon's version of the "Dr. Phil" meet was entirely different then what Kate's version was. So who is the liar???
