someone from GWoP picked apart the article in our local paper .. tried to pass off the Senior Pastor's quote as something Kate said.

Can't look at blogs! The school has them blocked. Is it scandalous?! Call 'em out, Madge! :lmao:

Does anyone know if jon and Kate have all the studio lighting in the new house?
I remember the epi were it was all taken down in the old house...Kate was acting like she was never going to have to put up with it again...and did she say something in one couch interview to the cameraman in that eoi asking him if it was better now shooting without the light?...or did i mis hear?

I wonder if this is why a lot of filming seems to be out of the house this season?

Finally joining in, and I read almost every page of this thread, I didn't try and find the first one...I like most stumbled upon this show and it was last spring when I came upon it. Right after I had my daughter and that first month or two when you do a lot of sitting and rocking with a newborn (Oh my! she is one next month...) I started watching this little show, and thanks to TLC running episodes pretty much everyday, I have been able to see them all. I too started off loving this show, I found the kids adorable and Jon & Kate entertaining and a lot of it relates to everyday life. Then this past fall, my attitude changed, I still find the kids adorable, but wish for them to go back to a life with no cameras. As Cara and Mady approach later elementary years and then junior high, this whole show thing won't be "cool" and it will be really rough on them. I don't like the "commercials" interjected into the show, and finding out they are producers, I am sure they know EXACTLY what will be happening on every episode, so to me that seems REALLY manufactured for the audience. I have missed the last 3 episodes, I never seem to have the kids totally in bed by 8, but watching them live in their mansion is not relevant to me anymore. I thought their last house was nice, the rooms that the "little kids" had were HUGE (I checked the listing for the house and it listed the dimensions of those rooms, like 24x14 or something) they had nice play areas in the bedrooms, in the area downstairs and in the backyard, but to each their own I guess. They can spend their money on whatever they want, but I think all these big expensive changes are causing them to lose viewers and alienate people. I find Kate more harsh then ever, and I don't think she knows that the things she says to her children slowly chip away at them and their self-esteem. I was hoping the show would have kept up the "honesty" I felt from the first seasons, now I feel that they aren't being "real". I worry about the kids and their marriage, Jon & Kate need to take a long look at how this is affecting their family and make some changes quick!

well, Gymboree answered my curiosity ... kids were decked out in the new line for the Oprah show.

season 5 starts in May? Good grief. No breaks for that bunch!

in the new house, kids' bedrooms are off limits for filming. now that they're older, it's an invasion of privacy. too little, too late, IMO.

I thought is was classic Kate when she said no one could wear shoes in the house (pan to socked crew/cameramen) except for her because it makes her look taller and thinner. Rules apply to everyone except her. We've seen that before! I would be so confused if I were her kid, spouse, friend, sitter, etc.

Isn't it rushing the season to have on sundresses in PA in March? I know it's warm here today, but it's still early March. Didn't she and Jon have on shirts and sweaters?

And, just to add my two cents...lol...I believe Kate when she said she didn't leave the house for two years or sleep. My daughter was a preemie and I literally didn't sleep for two years either...didn't leave the house much either. I can't imagine with 6 babies.

Well, if you call a couple of hours of sleep actual "sleeping." And, "leaving the house" was to run out to the store for a few minutes while my husband watched her. It was very difficult, although I wouldn't change a thing! She is now a beautiful teenager! With 6 babies I can't imagine what Kate went through, especially with two toddlers, too. We had some "us" time when my mom would come into town once a year. So, yes, it was hard but worth it.

Don't you have different rules for you and your kids? I know I do/did. Like when they were little I was allowed to drink soda on the couch but they couldn't, and things like that.

Sorry but did the soda rules apply to adults too? Not being snarky just curious because IF I was Kate's friend sister I'd be piffed that she could look "taller and thinner" and I still had to look short and frumpy ;) .

:rotfl2: DH was reading a paper while waiting for the bus in nyc and ran across the cheating article- with the college co-ed pictures. He emails his "news"
But what made me giggle was his last line and I quote

They didn't really show too much of the bedrooms in the old house, anyway. They showed the empty rooms when they were being redone, some baby shots and a few of them getting ready for bed.

I don't agree here. DNiece will be seven in July. Shortly after she turned six, she wanted her privacy. Couldn't have cared less when she was five. Would run around the house in underwear all the time if they let her. :rotfl: Maybe the kids are just now aware of their own space and privacy.

Even when Kate is having her moments, I find her much more entertaining on the show than on her appearances.

Very cute how one of the little girls (I still have trouble telling any of them apart besides Aaden, and that's only because of the glasses) kept kissing Cara. DS and DNiece like to hug all the time and would totally be doing the same thing. :goodvibes

From the last episode it seems that they won't need the lighting in the new house. I guess that's a positive for the kids. I couldn't imagine having bright studio lights on in every room in the house. Can you imagine waking up to those in the morning? I can't even take a shower with all the lights on in the bathroom because I need time to "wake up"

I didn't see Oprah yet, I'll have to try to catch it when it comes on later tonight. They also had this rule on Little People Big World for their daughter Molly. The camera was only in her room once, when they were redoing their house and they were painting her room (her stuff was all out). I agree that they should have limited the number of rooms they filmed in before as well, but I'm glad that they finally did make that decision for the sake of the kids. It's good to be able to have a spot to get away to when needed.

So I went upstairs on my "on demand" feature, and watched the episode where they showed the 8 kids the new house. Honestly, its a nice house and all - but the expense they paid lies more in the land than in the house. I have a decent sized house and while I thought this million dollar place would make them seem more out-of-touch (from what i had heard) ... that house kind of doesn't do that to me. The land is where they paid the big bucks. I know the house is big... but i dont think its that ginormous (a lot to clean, yes). I googled the house and its 6200 sq feet. That is big, but not outrageous. My FIL's house is that big and honestly once your in it it doesnt seem that large. Around here, that sq feet could be purchased for around $650,000. Id say they have a ton of acreage (and maybe wanted the privacy too)... but thats a lot to pay for it. I expected a lot more for 1.3 mil.

I did watch another episode where Kate was making the soup and she had gotten ahold of Jon pretty good. :scared:

On Oprah, what did everyone think about all the marriage questions Oprah was asking?!

I was watching an older show and saw Kate.
She was heavier and very pale.
I think she is trying to act like Katie Holmes and the Spice girl that is married to the soccer player, sorry, I am really bad with names. She is about the same age as those 2 and she really is dressing different too.
Remember after she had the kids, Jon took her out shopping and he picked clothes out for her, because she had no clue what matched.

Obviously 4 year olds and adults have some different house rules. She doesn't allow any adults to wear shoes except for her; even visitors to her home. The no shoes rule should not be age specific if she is as adament about it as we have seen. The poor cameraman with back trouble had to wear scrub covers over his shoes. She even made the appliance delivery men remove shoes. Dirt is not her real issue. The kid poops in the floor and she isn't in a hurry to deal with it, but she insists grown men who are strangers remove their shoes.

What she is really saying with this rule is "I can wear my shoes, because I am able to keep my shoes clean enough for my home. No one else is conscientious enough." I know people with that mentality. I feel sorry for Kate sometimes, I really do. She seems surrounded by people, but so lonely.

The shoe rule wouldn't bother me a bit because I HATE wearing shoes and would be thrilled if I got to take off my shoes when I walked in the house.

I just don't see the no shoe rule as a big thing. :confused3 I guess since I lived in Alaska for almost 6 years I don't see as a big deal because up there you always removed your shoes when you went into someones house. It was pretty much the rule at everyone's house, some people even had a sign on their door, "Please Remove Shoes".
