Upthread (I think it was on this board) somebody said that they later got rid of the dogs, supposedly due to allergies. If that's true I really want to hear an explanation. Jon and the kids obviously love those dogs and they seem happy. I don't know much of allergies, but I have a feeling it's an excuse from Kate.

No, that was just speculation on the excuse if they DID get rid of the puppies.

OK, so I was looking at one of the anti-Gosselin blogs tonight, and it really got me thinking.

OK, I understand the fan mentality. They find something they like, and they enjoy it, learn about it, etc. I can understand why fans would defend the Gosselins. I can understand why they would watch the shows, go to the signings, etc., etc.

I don't understand the hate mentality. Why would someone who dislikes the Gosselins so much spend so much time and energy on them? There are obviously good things about this family (whether or not they are involved directly, good things come out of their existence...I'm thinking benefits to St. Jude, RMH, the charities and individuals on their site, etc.). What kind of outlook do you have to have on life to pin point the bad and feel the need to call it out? I mean, these people say some venomous things. What, honestly, could a person on tv whose actions have no effect on you personally do to make some of these people say the things they do?

And say Kate's pristine world of matching outfits and house-trained puppies comes crumbling down around her. Will they take joy in her pain? Will they truly be happy that a fellow human is not?

Yes, I know they chose to put themselves on tv and open their lives to scrutiny, but it seems like some people forget that the Gosselins aren't characters. They are real people with real issues and real lives.

Any thoughts?

you mean people that troll message boards, looking for any crumb of information or opinion and post it as their own? :sad2:

I don't know what drives people. But, to some extent we all contribute. We go to the other blogs to see what's out there, like it's some form of entertainment. I believe we take a higher road, because we don't take everything as the gospel truth, or we're smart enough to balance the information. I don't know, though. It's still bad.

I'm glad I was able to share my experiences about Sunday's appearance with you all. And my opinions about Kate haven't changed. But if I had to do it over again, I'm not sure that I would. I forget that more than just our regulars read here. Shame on me. I removed the entry on my blog .. well, I changed it to private. I just feel a little violated. :headache:

And the sad thing is that the vultures knew Kate was making this appearance. It isn't the fault of the church that the tabloid stories ran ... unfortunately, it created more interest that normal. The church did such a fantastic job putting together this event -- it isn't their fault that Kate is a flake.

I thought this was a good episode. I am really enjoying watching the puppies and watching the kids interact with them. Shoka is HUGE!

I work right across the street from the vet they go to. I am surprised I didn't notice the production vans since they were there on a normal business day. Was anyone else annoyed that the vet couldn't say Nala right?

This episode had to have been filmed in early February. The kids weren't wearing coats and we had a 2 day spell where it was really warm here. I am assuming Kate was travelling so much because that was the height of the Octo-mom stuff. I don't blame her for striking while the irons hot, so to speak!

I was surprised....Kate seemed genuinely interested in the dogs and how they acted, etc after the surgery. She actually seemed to care about them and seemed interested. Really surprised me.

The dogs seemed to be adjusting well. Again, I was a little surprised at that. It was so cute how Nala was letting the little girls hang all over her.

Finally, I was impressed how quickly Jon noticed Alexis was still in the van. I probably wouldn't have noticed that quickly. What amazed me is he noticed immediately and knew immediately who was missing without doing a quick run down. I couldn't even imagine!

puffkin - do you mind if I ask you a question??? How is it living where "they" live/work/travel/whatever?? What do you think the "local" feeling is on this? I apologize if that's too personal or has been asked before. I'm just curious to see how those who are constantly around them see if versus someone like me who lives like 12 hours from you and has never encountered them or followed the story before it was on TLC. I guess I'm asking more like does everyone know where they're at all the time, get annoyed with the production people, annoyed from other things that have happened, talked about at local gatherings (positively or negatively)? Again, if that's too personal or rude, I certainly apologize - not my intention at all! :goodvibes

As for the thoughts TotalSnowWhite asked for regarding the hate blogs, I don't know that I've ever read them other than links posted through here. I tried googling stuff but even comments on some of the articles posted here are incredibly harsh. I have to say you must feel very poorly about yourself to have to put another person down that harshly. (I'm more interested in the information and make my own decisions about how good/terrible what they did/said was instead of only hearing one slanted side of the story) It's one thing to disagree with a person's actions and another to attack the person. I'm not a fan of J&K and I don't really think I *hate* them either but that's a very strong word that I rarely use. I don't agree with all of their personal decisions (both with kids or with the show) but sometimes it is nice to turn it on (moreso older shows) and see a house of 8 kids running around screaming and being thankful for my two who are playing quietly. :rolleyes1

This may surprise many of you, but they honestly get ZERO media attention around here. I haven't really seen them mentioned at all by the local media in years. Most of the people in our area have no idea they are even living here. Every now and then I hear someone comment about bumping into them at a store or a gas station or something like that, but nothing negative.

I actually have a friend who watches the show regularly and I mentioned about how funny it was seeing Dr. Kristen and her office on the show (dentist) and how my son recognized it because we go there. My friend had NO IDEA that they lived in our area and that most of the places they go to are local.

People in this area are more concerned with Kelly McGillis (I think that is her name) and Richard Gere. Apparently both have houses in the area and have been sighted. Also, Donyell Marshall, an NBA basketball player is from here so people sight him alot....in fact his son and ex-girlfriend live right down the block from me. We also have several professional football players from the area that garner a lot of interest. The Gosselins are really a non-issue.

Loved the show last night and think the puppies really add something to the show. The kids are so cute with the puppies! Count me in as one that was annoyed with the vet for saying Nala's name wrong. :lmao:

I think Kate likes the pups more than she is letting on, although I wanted her to just be quiet about how often Jon scoops poop. Get over it woman!

I have been concerned this season with the two of them. They just don't seem happy with each other at all. So detached from one another. I hope I am wrong. I just read a few pages back and saw the thing about Jon and college girls...when does the man have time? I just don't believe that at all.

Hi, This is my first time here. I do enjoy watching the show. I have not seen it for about a month an finally watched it last night, March 9. I notice a different 'feel' to the show. Since the new house the kids seem alot more physical with each other. What happened to time out? Also there is no training for the puppies. I work at an animal hospital. The puppies are very nice but did any one notice how the are running after the kids and jumping on them and nipping. Cute when they are young, not so much fun when they are 80 pounds. If any one watches the Dog Whisperer you can see the problems developing in the early stages. I love the show, admired Kate and Jon but I think I see 2 very tired parents who seemed very isolated. Hopefully they have friends who we do not see on the show. Patsy

I see TLC has picked up "Table for 12", the family with 2 sets of twins and 1 set of sextuplets. I wonder if TLC is getting ready to drop J&K?

I watched the "pilot" and they seem like perfectly nice people. I wonder how long it will take for the bloggers to turn on them.

I have a feeling they will turn them into saints (when compared with the Gosselins) for a while. Then they'll start finding things to harp on.

Puffkin...do you have kiddos? I met some women who are starting a JBF sale in your area.

I attempted (probably poorly) to make a similar comment several pages back - but I'm assuming the people in the hate blogs are women. And if so, that's what really irks me - how quickly women LOVE to tear other women down. I seriousy doubt men would take the time to articulate their disdain for another women in such a fasion.

Again, I may be wrong and those blogs are all written by unemployed men who spend hours writing loathing messages about Kate.

Sorry! Totally didn't mean to steal your thoughts. ;) It's just kind of been a nagging thought that came to a head upon reading a certain lunar blog.

I do agree. Women, especially moms, are so hard on each other.

Yup, I have a DS who turns 3 tomorrow :scared1: I still can't believe it!

I think I am being stupid, but what is a JBF sale?

JBF is a consignment sale for kid stuff. I have no idea what JBF stands for, though. LOL.

Thanks for the answer. I guess that's kind of what I thought. It's really amazing though how they can kind of "blend in" which is great for them. We have several "famous" people around these parts as well and there are always people asking if we've seen so and so or know where they live. I guess I don't pay much attention either. I probably wouldn't know any of them if I did bump into them so it wouldn't be a big deal to me! :rotfl: Now if I were in Savannah and bumped into Paula Deen, that'd be another story altogether!!:woohoo:

Happy Birthday! :goodvibes

Nope, you didn't steal - those hate blogs just illuminates how horrible women are to each other.

I completely agree with other writers that Kate appears to be 'disconnected' or disinterested when she speaks. ANY speaker, whether in high school, as a profession, product sponsor, professional knows you greet your audience, end your speech with a thank you or saluation of some kind. It's the same as learning to write a proper letter. Obviously Kate missed class the day they discussed etiquette for public speakers. It's high time her highly paid handlers/PR people worked with her on how to be polite. Her behavior at appearances borders on being rude and if she plans to continue with this career choice she needs to make some improvements on the basics. I wonder if she greets her hosts when she arrives at an engagement or if she thanks them when she leaves -- sure makes you wonder. I've only seen her speak once, last fall, and was unimpressed. I certainly would never pay to hear or see her.
