I'm a HUGE Johnny Depp fan - and I LOVED Dark Shadows when I was a kid.

I was pretty young when it was on TV, but I remember watching after school with my girlfriend & hiding behind the sofa at the scary parts, lol.

I know , isn't it great!!! The Dark Shadows rumors have been flying around for the past couple years about Johnny playing Barnabas. I'm happy to hear that Tim and Johnny are finally starting to confirm it

Oh lordy, I was a Dark Shadows junkie. I loved Barnabas, but I must confess Quentin made my little elementary school knees weak. (David Selby was indeed hot.) I watched it every day, saw every theatre release, had the board game, the official fangs, etc. I don't know what happened to my board game, but I got a replacement from eBay and we put those skeletons together as a family these days.

I hope the movie lives up to my expectations.

I loved DS too and David S was IMHO 'dreamy" but I could not see the allure of Baranbas he was too creepy but in an old man kind of pervert way not in a hot vampire way. I mean who wanted to be bitten by him? NOW JD on the other hand...who wouldn't want to be bitten by him
I do however think that he and Tim Burton have some sort of mancrush on eachother because most of Burton's movies have JD as the star.

ETA: I live in MA and it occured to me that now that we are "Hollywood East" (they are in the process of filming 9 movies in MA as we speak and many within a 15 mile radius of where I live) and the state picks up 25% of production costs they all come here to shoot.
Given that premise and given the fact that they are opening 2 huge movie studios PLUS the fact that Dark Shadows is supposed to be in Collinsport ME in Maine (Maine, Nh, Vt, they all look alike) there is a good chance they might film here. How awesome would that be? The Proposal was supposed to be in Alsaka but it was filmed in Ma. I know I would if I was shooting a moive with ME. as the location I would shoot in MA. HOPE Tim reads this...lol

Me, too. My mother would meet us at the door with a big bowl of popcorn. We'd pull all the cushions off the couch and lay on the floor watching Dark Shadows in black & white. Barnabas Collins scared the bejesus out of me, but I was somehow mesmerized.
