I've never started a political thread before, but WOW

So what does Stephen Hawking use for his computer? There are people who hold a pencil in their mouths to use keyboard. Where there's a will, there's away.

And you can put that disrespect BS to bed. This is a political campaign not an ice cream social at the local Sunday school. The "outrage du jour" of the McCain supporters is becoming a running joke.

Btw, Obama is not my savior so you can put that strawman to bed too.

However, Obama did hit the nail on the head and the McCain supporters tried to use the "POW card" to ridiculous effect. Again.

McCain can't use a computer because he doesn't want to. Using what happend 40 years ago to excuse what's happening today is ludicrous.

Y'er welcome. :goodvibes

And as far as the, "using the POW card to ridiculous effect" comment. McCain has given more to this country than BO EVER WILL, even if he is PRes. BEing pres is easy. being a captured, tortured POW, is something that BO could have never lived through, end of story.

Ummm..last time I checked, Hawking was in a wheel chair, unable to walk, and unable to move his arms or legs. McCain, is busy, works, is a senator.

does BO really know McCAin can't use a computer?
Ummm, hasn;t McCain himself acknowledged this?:confused3

It is obvious that he was not mocking McCain for his war injuries any more than wearing a flag pin maes you a good American. The premise is not only flawed but intentionally misleading.:sad1:

One's perception is his own reality. Obama has said several things lately that weren't taken as he "meant" them to be.

does BO really know McCAin can't use a computer? Get real. He is the one who wants to talk about issues, instead he wants to know if McCAin can use email? Are you serious?

The point is that even with a disability to his arm or hand, he could still use a computer and email, IF he wanted to do so. There are a lot of physically challenged people that use computers everyday. Some with much more serious mobility/typing issues that McCain. McCain chooses not to use email or computers, which implies that McCain has no desire to learn the latest technologies.

Well, there is the best answer yet.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

And frankly I do not care if he can. I just care that he fully realizes how it impacts our lives.

ok, I will ask again. Does BO actually know, that McCain doesn't use his computer?

If you would have read earlier posts, you would see M uses a computer daily. and ever night he and his wife read emails together. She types replies based on what he tells her to type.

Does every executive type their own letters or e-mails? Does this mean they are out of touch and not up on technology?

I would certainly expect one to be familiar with how they operate. Especially since national security relies heavily on modern technology and communications.

If McCain has stated he is computer illiterate, how in the world does he "use one everyday?" It sounds like his wife uses the machine. I hope nothing important comes up, and she isn't around.

I'm just glad Obama knows how to use the button for voting in the senate. He's really is capable in the pressing of the "present" button.

The OP asked a ridiculous question and it got the reply it deserved.

The fact the McCain can't use a computer has nothing to do with his POW injuries. If Stephen Hawking can find a way, so could McCain. He doesn't want to and that's the point.

With all due respect (although you afforded me none in your post), that was not my origonal question. My question was if Obama used his disability against him. After significant research and looking at all sides of the issue, I don't think he did intentionally. I just think he was an idiot...again.

You don't think he did it intentionally? FYI, he didn't do it at all. That's the point.

McCain can't use a computer because he doesn't want to. End of story.

How old are you? You seem to have a very black and white view of the world that I usually find in young people who haven't had a chance to experience the complexity of life.

I don't mean to sound snarky in any way when I say this, but I'm going to suggest that no person is infallible on any side. Your refusal to bend in any way hurts your credibility.

This is your opinion.....the conclusion you have reached on the matter....nothing more....nothing less.

FYI, I'm 54 years old and the one thing I learned is that life isn't as complicated as people would like to make it. I've also learned to recognize BS when I see it.

Generally, the reason why people don't do something is because they don't want to, but they'll make up a helluva BS excuse to cover that up.

McCain can't use a computer because his POW injuries prevent him from using a keyboard? So? There's no other way? No one with a handicap uses a computer? C'mon, this is ridiculous. With McCain's money, he could have a custom job from Bill Gates himself. He doesn't want to. End of story.

Btw, credibility doesn't hinge on how much you want to bend but how often you get it right. And not being a liar helps too.

Sorry, you may be an honest person, but this entire thread is based on whether or not you buy into the latest Republican BS outrage du jour. I ain't buying it. They've played that card once to often from they own the word "lipstick" to "Obama made fun of McCain's POW injuries". Puhleeze.

But can you admit that the research done prior to running this was slipshod at best? Just as what happened with the lipstick comment, Obama set himself up to be questioned. Politics is all about perception and leaving yourself open for criticism. Forget McCain and whether he can/can not use a computer and pay attention to the ad, which is what I was talking about in the first place. It was a poorly thought out ad and set Obama up for criticism because many many people had the same initial reaction that I did. It soured my opinion of him further. It was a poor choice of words. Had he stuck to the jab about the computer it would have been one thing, but he should have left the e-mail part out of it. It was a stupid thing to do.

The fact that it morphed into an "Obama makes fun of McCain's POW injuries" proves the point that the outrage-du-jour crowd are jumping through their rear ends looking for opportunities to play the victim card.

Politics is a contact sport and no one is above criticism whether they're a senator from Illinois, a senator from Arizona or a "lipstick wearing pit bull" from Alaska. If you want to get into the presidential political arena expect to get your nose bloodied. That's an easy prerequisite to what the job will really do to you.

Btw, neither the Republican party nor Sarah Palin own the term "lipstick". And the phrase "lipstick on a pig" has been around a long, long time.

I'm done with this discussion because the thing speaks for itself.
