I've never started a political thread before, but WOW

McCain on the right wing of the party? Are you kidding? The man who considered picking Joe Lieberman as his running mate. McCain spends more time crossing the isle than I do going to the bathroom. As a conservative, he does not sit well with me. In my mind, he lines up better for the Democrats than he does the Republicans. His choice of Palin was partially about bringing in the right wing. Republicans will vote for him because BO is more of a socialist than a Democrat. Just look at my earlier post on his health care plan.

This is an election. McCain reaching out the the right.........as Obama is trying to reach to the center.
McCain is center
Obama is so far left........

He may have considered Joe Lieberman, but who did he pick (or who was picked for him?) Palin, an ultra right winger. Yes, that is pandering. That, and the major change to where he stands on issues since 2004. Sorry, neither Obama nor McCain impress me as a true "change" candidate, just more of the same, and I'd rather have not have 4 more years of Bush.

We all know Lieberman was never a legitimate possibility. There is a great deal of the Republican party that can hardly stand McCain, but is willing to vote for him = but Lieberman on the ticket would have set those folks off. Let alone the fact that many Democrats can't stand Lieberman. It was never gonna happen.

Sorry didn't mean to bold the word pandering. Yes he is pandering. No his is not a right winger.

I am one of the right wingers that can't stand McCain. However, I will vote for him over the socialist.

As they said on The Corner...Obama is pretty good at e-mails, but no so good at Google searches...

This is all such BS. My student who is parapeligic can send email for heaven's sake and I know he's much more physically limited than McCain....Man, you folks will take imagained offense at anything. Whiners.

No one ever said McCain can't send e-mail. It may be difficult for him to do, but I'm sure there are hundreds of ways he could get around it if he wanted to. The point is, however, that, for whatever reason, he doesn't see the need to spend the money, or invest in some kind of special-keyboard (or whatever people use). He seems very content with letting his wife do the typing while he dictates or reads. He found a system that works for him. Why is this a problem? Just because he’s not actually doing the work by himself and only himself?

Just because someone has trouble doing something or can't do something, doesn't mean they shouldn't know anything about it. I can see why he might not be a computer wiz, but I don't think anyone expects the President to be able to double in the IT department. But he should have a good sense of how email and computers work and how it fits in to the daily life of most americans and US buisness as a whole. And if he really wanted to learn, there are plenty of ways to use a computer other than a QWERTY keyboard.

All that said, it was a dumb thing to put in an ad. There are a million things to call McCain on, I think this issue is the very least among them.

Who said that he doesn't know anything about it? From the article I saw, which was from 8-years ago when much of the general-public was just starting to become more comfortable with computers, it sounded as if he and his wife sat down together and went on the computer quite often. In the interview someone posted, again, he said he was knew enough to get the information he needed. I don’t expect him to be a computer whiz (I doubt any President up until this point has had all that much experience with computers), but why do you assume he doesn’t know anything about them? Why do you assume he doesn’t have a good sense of how e-mail and computers work and fit into daily life? Again, yes, there are plenty of ways he could learn to use a computer but he has found a system that works for him and has no need!

All that said, it was a dumb thing to put in an ad.

Well that we agree on. I don't think he had any intent to insult McCain's POW injuries, but it was a stupid ad and I can see how some might find it offensive.
