I've never started a political thread before, but WOW

So...I guess we should vote for BO because he can send email? :confused3 :rotfl: Yeah...I'm on that - right after he learns how to speak without a teleprompter.

Whats the next ad - "John McCain does not even own an ipod - can we trust this man as President?" - "I'm Barack Obama, and I approve this message".

Thats great. Good job BO. :thumbsup2

No, let's have a President like this:

I thought we had rules on this forum about not pointing out spelling errors. :confused3 How petty of you to do that.

No way????? Really?? Isee it done all the time, I had know idea it was against the rules. Actually, I'm confident you're wrong again.

Oversimplify much?

In a culture somewhat dominated by the web, I would think the POTUS would have a working knowledge of the internet. I do not think he is obligated to be techno-proficient, just have a reasonable working knowledge of what is out there. This doesn't he has to be HopefulPotus@aol.com, but he should at least understand what it is and how it impacts society.

Well in that case - should a president also have working firsthand knowledge of national security issues? I would think so. Obama has never fired a weapon, was never a commander to men on a battlefield, flew a military plane, never had to face the enemy. Who would be prepared to be commander in chief more - the ability to type an email and hit send or fighting a war?

This is without a doubt the stupidest ad I've ever seen - but I'm waiting...there is still plenty of time for BO to continue putting his foot in his mouth.

He does. And if BO's campaign knew how to google - they would have seen this too.

Three words for the crowd that actually believes "McCain can't use a keyboard because of his POW injuries":

PROFESSOR STEPHEN HAWKING.

http://www.hawking.org.uk/home/hindex.html

You want to talk disabilities? Those are disabilities and it hasn't prevented him from keeping up with what's new in the world.

McCain can't use a computer because he's lazy and has no intellectual curiousity about a system that has become a major part of our world.

Intelligent people have a curiosity about and learn new technologies.

Ignoramuses rely on others to do it for them.

Unfortunately, some people revel in ignorance and consider it a virtue in someone else.

BTW, if someone has the bright idea to piggyback that last sentence to try to be clever and attack me, a simple thank you would be appreciated. And y'er welcome. :lmao:

One last thing: If anyone wants to email Professor Hawking, there's an email address given on the website so you can do so. The man with ALS figured out a way, but John McCain can't. :rotfl2:

:thumbsup2

The fact that McCain has no interest in the internet is disturbing.

You know - as someone who has dressed a young wounded veteran for his own wedding because the simple task of buttoning was to difficult - and this same person will tell people - to not bother emailing him because it bothers his injuries to much. I find this extremely insulting. Does this mean that the young man I work with is lazy or ignorant as well? I THINK NOT.

FTR - I have spoken to this soldier about this latest attack ad (he is literally part of my family now)- and he is extremely offended by it as well.

However, your constant referral to McCain not "emailing" does not reflect the issue that McCain is computer illiterate. Computer literacy is not about emailing.

And on a personal note, no one said anything about your young veteran friend.

Did you read the links I provided yet?

I didn't say anyone said anything about him. I'm saying that he too is offended by that ad as he should be!

Of course this is just your opinion.

With no disrespect meant, Hawking relies on people to do things he can't. It's not because he's lazy.

There are plenty of successful people in the world today that don't feel the need to be wired to it. They seem to get along just fine.

So lets summarize...

Palin is a terrible mother and woman because she's got the balls to hold a high ranking job AND take care of a family as well.

McCain is an old geezer out of touch because he doesn't personally use a computer or send emails.

In some other bizarro world, you guys would be defending these people.

So, did he get extremely offended by it all on his own, or was it after you told him that John McCain finds using a keyboard difficult that he decided it must be a jab at McCain's limitations due to his injuries?

Unless you had read that somewhere prior to the ad being released, it's not a logical conclusion to the average viewer.

He got offended by it all on his own. Imagine that. Don't underestimate the intelligence of "the average viewer". Besides - I would hardly call him "the average viewer" - he's a wounded soldier who will not be able to perform what everyone else takes for granted. Your comment is insulting.

Yet again, you miss the point. I'm sure it's on purpose.

I'm confident JM is up to speed with what's "going on in the world".

Given the choice of time intensive (and painful) keying himself, the much better option is to have someone else type responses. Sounds like an efficient work around to me, intelligent even.

I think time is much more precious to JM to many others who might also not have the option to have someone type for him.
