I've never started a political thread before, but WOW

I thought we had rules on this forum about not pointing out spelling errors. :confused3 How petty of you to do that.

It's okay, I deserved it. I pointed out that rhetoric was not spelled "redderick". I also made a point about all of the spelling errors in posts, and then made a typo of my own. Spelling a word incorrectly once, I will chalk up to a typo. Having the same word misspelled continously would indicate that you simply don't know how to spell the word.

I would agree.

That's why I use a spell checker. www.iespell.com

The new browser I'm using "Chrome" from Google has built in "on the fly" spell checking like MS word.

I really don't need to use spellcheck to spell gems correctly. We've danced on enough threads to know better than that, Charade.

ETA: Sorry, John. I re-read your post and believe you posted that information to inform the rest of us that there are programs we can run "just in case".

Did Obama really mock McCain not being able to send e-mail when McCain can't use a keyboard due to the injuries he received while a POW?:confused3

Maybe McCain is too fragile to be president, what other limitations does he have....I mean how did he make it 35 years in Washington??? :confused3

McCain is pulling the POW card for everything now....it's just not as effective anymore.

The problem appears to be the whole damn system.

Again, I would agree. But the "battle cry" is, at least here in the US, "WE NEED MORE MONEY!!". In some cases, I would agree but for the most part, more money being spent per student does not automatically mean a better student.

I wasn't suggesting for you to use one. I was just tossing that out as a PSA.

Be careful. It is farrrr more effective than the "Shut up about being a POW!" card.

Gee, was that in Canada? Maybe we can make some assumptions about an entire country based on your spelling mistakes. :rolleyes1

I believe you missed the irony. I was taking a jab at my own education since it appeared I made an error of my own.

How can teachers effectively "do their thing" if they aren't properly trained?

Teachers are capable of doing their job and they are trained to do it. But all too often, they have to give too much of that up to "teach the test" etc. Governement comes in and says "try this method and we'll give you x amount of funds''. So schools try it for the funding and sometimes the new method is good and sometimes it is bad. Kids fall through the cracks. I cannot sit here and list the crummy methods they've tried through the years but if I shared a few, I am sure you'd roll your eyes. The teachers I know certainly roll theirs.
I have no idea when all this started but I do know it was happening back in the 70s when I was in school.
Half of the knack for teaching is being able to control the classroom and keep their attention. That has nothing to do with the government though. That's has more to do with out of control, undisciplined, spoiled children and that is a parenting problem.
It's just MHO that our education problem is not a teacher problem--it is a big government problem and a parenting problem. And bush is not innocent to it with his NCLB. It looks idea good on the outside but is just not able to happen in reality. So, the kids and the teachers pay for/suffer for it. I think most every teacher knew it wasn't a possibility for a reality.
I'm way off topic and late for a v-ball match. :rotfl2: Y'all have fun!

So...I guess we should vote for BO because he can send email? :confused3 :rotfl: Yeah...I'm on that - right after he learns how to speak without a teleprompter.

Whats the next ad - "John McCain does not even own an ipod - can we trust this man as President?" - "I'm Barack Obama, and I approve this message".

Thats great. Good job BO. :thumbsup2

Oversimplify much?

In a culture somewhat dominated by the web, I would think the POTUS would have a working knowledge of the internet. I do not think he is obligated to be techno-proficient, just have a reasonable working knowledge of what is out there. This doesn't he has to be HopefulPotus@aol.com, but he should at least understand what it is and how it impacts society.
