Holiday movies. Lol I love them, I really do. Hallmark channel runs them all day long and my kids and I love the cheesy happy endings!
But lately, I have found myself looking at the little things....
Why is everyone eating turkey, yet the turkey is sitting beautifully and uncarved in the middle of the dinner table? Do you have a back up turkey in the kitchen?
How much are those electricity bills?? All those Christmas lights are on and nobody is shouting "turn off the lights when you leave the room!"
Just a silly observation :goodvibes:goodvibes

Haha.
I actually noticed the turkey thing when I was watching something else last night. Everyone has a full plate of food, but only one piece of turkey has been carved off the breast in the middle of the table.

I haven't watched any of the Christmas movies yet, I just can't bring myself to do it. Plus, I saw most of them last year.... and my DD who is the big watcher isn't home from school yet.

I love the Hallmark Channel's Christmas movies. It drives my hubby and sons batty because they are so cheesy and silly. The ones that always bother me are where the movie is supposed to be taking place in Alaska or a ski lodge (Candace Cameron's movies come to mind, lol) and you know it's supposed to be freezing cold, yet people are walking around with coats on but undone, no gloves or mittens, and then they drive with their car windows down???? Have any of these people actually visited a ski resort or Alaska? Still love them and watch them all except I'm not a fan of Alicia Witt and I can skip hers.

That is pretty funny! Now that you mention Candace Cameron, ever notice how she is almost always the stuck up city girl that has to be picked up at the airport/ train station by the town handy man? Lol
I really like A Cookie Cutter Christmas but some of the acting is pretty bad! :rotfl:

It's last year's turkey. It''s like fruitcake, you can keep it for ever! If anyone has seen ""Christmas in Wonderland" with Patrick Swayze, it was filmed in Edmonton. That was the year we had next to no snow. Aside from the fact that it takes place at West Edmonton Mall, they wanted to film in here because of course Canada always has snow. They almost abandoned the whole thing but all summer long the mall stayed decorated for Christmas and you'd see people where they were filming walking around in their winter coats. Theey finally had to say, in the kid's diary "Even though there is no snow (it feels like Christmas" or something like that) because anyone watching the movie would say "oh right, that's Canada n December...sure it is."

Open jackets and no mitts don't strike me odd. If you live in a northern climate you might do that, but you can't see their breath, their glasses don't fog up when they go inside, never have to warm up the car or scrape windsheilds or walk like a penguin on icy sidewalks.

I am watching way too many of these movies, too! I do find the little continuity issues pretty funny -- it's like hunting for Easter Eggs ;)

I am also not an Alicia Witt fan. I know she is one of their stable of performers, but there is just something about her that rubs me the wrong way.

And I have to say I am thinking the Mariah Carey movie will just be funny, because an actress she is not :rolleyes1

My sister lived in a Canadian ski town where parts of"Miracle" were filmed. She said they were covering the hills and other areas with a kind of cotton batting to make the snow look more "white" among other things.

I can't stand the commercials. Most of those movies could be done in 45 minutes.

I admit I watch the Hallmark Christmas movies. We have Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries Channel. They both run Christmas movies, but not the same ones at the same time. Last year was the second go-round, for me, of their standard Christmas selections. So I probably know most of them.

I notice in some outdoor scenes, the trees, windows, etc, are covered with what looks like sprayed-on white stuff, but if you catch the camera panning left or right, you'll see trees with green leaves intact and other proof of not being winter. Nobody's breath makes a "cloud." Perfectly clear driveways, and no ice or snow on any car or house windows. Never a brisk winter wind, the snow is perfectly white and untrampled, and everybody goes outside in just their "indoor" clothes. Ha!

But the actors are pleasant enough, the stories are hokey but OK for the season, so it's all good. Favorite movies are "A Dog Named Christmas," "The Nine Lives of Christmas," "Call Me Mrs. Miracle," and "Ms. Scrooge."

I'm already watching the Christmas movies, too. I know they are cheesy but I just can't resist. I love the whole holiday season. November and December are my favorite months.

I'll admit it, I'm an addict!

I did hit the ultimate Hallmark holiday movie experience last year. One of the movies, a character had my SAME EXACT last and first name!!!

I should've just stopped watching then and there! ha!

:rotfl::rotfl:Wow! Some awesome observations and stories on here. Oh boy! I am going to start disecting these movies now!

Another lover of the Hallmark Christmas movies! I can watch them over and over again.

However - I too can't take Alicia Witt. I don't know what it is but she drives me crazy :scared:

Ever notice in movies & tv shows that gifts are wrapped such that you don't remove the wrapping paper to open them? They all come with wrapped lids that slip right off, ribbon and bow remaining in place. :santa:

One year, when I was in high school, my sister and I wanted to wrap presents like that. My mother said "you can do it if you want, but I'm not going to!" So we did. Oh my goodness, what a pain! We never did it again.

I love the christmas movies, too. My biggest eye roll is that it's often about a family in crisis (lost jobs, about to lose the house, or some sort of life-threatening medical issue.) However the house is always decorated to the 'nines, inside and outside. The electric will be shut off on December 26th unless you receive a 'Christmas miracle'... but you've got 12,000 christmas lights on every possible surface. (And have you noticed there are no wires anywhere? Where are they plugging in all of those lights anyway?!)

My husband is obsessed with them this year, lol, and now he has DS9 watching them. He likes one of their regulars, Sarah Lancaster, from her days on the show Chuck. And we can't stand Alicia Witt either!

For whatever reason, I always get interested in the one with Candace Cameron too at the Lodge and we dissect that movie all the time! It actually is one of the better ones, but some of the stuff in there drive us crazy! That is usually followed by a conversation about how we need to get a life if we are dissecting Hallmark Christmas movies.

Funny story, my mom is obsessed with them too. And she just got a smart phone/texting a month ago. A commercial came on for the Rocket Rod and my DH said that my parents should get that for our little one to use in their pond. I told him to text her because she was probably watching. Lo and behold, she was watching and was looking it up online when she got his text because she thought the same thing! Hilarious.

Ok Guys! Now I am curious!! I have never really watched a full movie with Alicia Witt in it. What is it about her that drives eveyone crazy?? Lol
I feel like it's all ruined for me now. She is going to be on tonight, and since I am easily influenced, I will probably be throwing tomatoes at my tv screen :rotfl::rotfl:

My Alicia Witt issue is that her smile seems fake, and I just don't enjoy her acting -- it feels like she thinks she's doing the audience a favor being in the movie...but that's just me.
