I've been watching too many....

Not alone. I've been watching them. I can't stand Alicia Witt either she's probably one of my least favorites. I love Angels Sing. There's another Christmas based movie that I can't remember the name of but it has Candace Cameron in it and I bawl everytime I watch it.

I only know Alicia Witt from Justified - liked her a lot. What Christmas movie did she do that everyone hates her? Did she kick a puppy or something?

In her latest one she sang the theme song they kept playing all the way through -- and I am not fond of her voice. It's just something about her manner, she just doesn't fit with the "homey" Hallmark vibe. I thought the same thing about the movie Charisma Carpenter did years ago. It just didn't work...

I love cheesy Christmas movies! (My favorites are the one where the rich guy "rents" a family - Roma Downey and a little girl, and the Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers one with the orphans.) I've already watched a couple of this year's batch, and am looking forward to more.

I love me some Christmas movies. Bring on Debbie McComber movies! I hope for a new one from her this year!

I've been watching too many Christmas movies too, but I've also been watching WAY too much Food Network, and finding too many new recipes I want to try

A couple of years ago, my friend and I bought the Hallmark ones Christmas Shoes and the sequel (Christmas Blessing?). It takes place after the little boy grows up. I don't want to spoil anything but, as an adult, he has the shoes. Ummm...you mean he took them away from his mum? That kinda' spoils the whole "Christmas Shoes" song/movie doesn't it?

My sister lived in a Canadian ski town where parts of"Miracle" were filmed. She said they were covering the hills and other areas with a kind of cotton batting to make the snow look more "white" among other things.
LOL yeah. They just figure we're ice and snow all year or at least that we can 'count on' snow. Nope.

This time of year my husband and I find ourselves watching tv in separate areas of the house. I watch corny Christmas movies and he watches action-packed, shoot-em-up, non-holiday movies! I love the Hallmark Christmas movies, and I guess I'm in the minority concerning Alicia Witt. I liked her in A Very Merry Mix-Up. I'll admit, most of the movies are a bit corny and very predictable, but I still enjoy them! Some of my favorites- A Very Merry Mix-Up, Christmas Under Wraps, One Christmas Eve and Let It Snow. I'm looking forward to the new ones this season.

I do notice many of the same oddities that have been mentioned on this thread, though! They always make snow look so delightful, but in reality, it really isn't! Not all the time, anyway! And speaking of reality, I prefer the Christmas movies with plots that "could" happen (and even that's a stretch for most of the movies!) as opposed to the ones that portray a real Santa, or real elves, toyshop, North Pole, etc. There is one movie in particular that I almost couldn't finish watching. It was Single Santa Looking For Mrs. Santa, or something like that. It starred Steve Guttenberg as Nick, and he had the most annoying little laugh/chuckle that drove me crazy! He was Santa, so he had a weird "ho ho ho" type of laugh, but he did it constantly.:headache:

:lmao:I think I've found my people. :grouphug: :rotfl:

I've been binge watching the cheesy Christmas movies too. :santa: I thought it was just me. I thought maybe it's because I'm gearing up for an upcoming holiday art show at our art studio. (NOT that I'm making Christmas themed stuff. :p Just that this is the time we have the most sales.) Nice to know there are others. Although, it says a lot about our tastes and willingness to put up with a lack of quality acting or stories. :p :lmao::ssst:

What I find interesting is that they rarely seem to be able to cast both an actor and an actress who can both act at the same time. :confused3 I watched something a couple nights ago where I really like the girl but they paired her up with a guy who was an absolute stuffed shirt, with no real chemistry between them. :crazy2: Seriously? They couldn't cast better than that? :confused3 Sometimes, it's the guy that is cute, but where did they dig the actress up from? :headache: Come on, Hallmark, cough up a few hundred dollars more to hire better actors. :sad2:

I am also not an Alicia Witt fan. I know she is one of their stable of performers, but there is just something about her that rubs me the wrong way.

However - I too can't take Alicia Witt. I don't know what it is but she drives me crazy :scared:

I am not fond of her voice. It's just something about her manner,

My Alicia Witt issue is that her smile seems fake, and I just don't enjoy her acting -- it feels like she thinks she's doing the audience a favor being in the movie...but that's just me.

Perfect example of what I was talking about above. They can't hire a better actress than Alicia Witt? :headache: :confused3

I think it's her snooty, nasal voice and simpering attitude that makes her so annoying. :badpc:

What's worse though, is that I totally thought she was the same actress as the one who played Lexie Grey on Grey's Anatomy, Chyler Leigh, who's now on Supergirl. I wondered how she found the time to shoot both Supergirl and the upcoming Hallmark movie. :scratchin It wasn't until I looked her up on the IMDb.com :surfweb: that I found out they are two different actresses. Oops! Sorry Chyler! But I found you just as annoying & simpering on Grey's. :headache: (Chyler Leigh is much better on Supergirl :thumbsup2 but she did do one Hallmark Christmas movie too.)

Ever notice in movies & tv shows that gifts are wrapped such that you don't remove the wrapping paper to open them? They all come with wrapped lids that slip right off, ribbon and bow remaining in place. :santa:

Well I'm assuming you know its so they can do multiple takes and not have to have a bunch of exactly wrapped packages but there are two instances where they do use conventionally wrapped presents.

  • The story really needs the opener to tear the package apart usually prying the lid off.
  • The opener is a neat freak and likes to save the wrapping and very carefully removes the tape and folds up the paper.
Note I usually hate rom com Hallmark Xmas Movies since they are so predictable I only like the ones with sort of a "is Santa real or not" aka 34th street.

Next year I may start to make a charts on how few plots they really use.

I also can't stand Bailee Madison. :headache: She also does a lot of the Christmas movies. :badpc:

The movie I was talking about with Candace is called heart of Christmas. I've never seen it on hallmark though, I think it aired on up last year.

How does everyone feel about
Sarah Lancaster?? She seems to be in a lot of the new ones.

The cheesiest movie I have seen so far has been "Finding Christmas" I mean, top
Of the cheese list for me!! But I still kind of liked it! Ha!

Hahaha! I had to look that one up!
What a beautiful painting of a perfect family and their perfect turkey!

You've never seen that picture? :confused3

Some say that one Magazine cover is what created the Thanksgiving we know today.

Ok Guys! Now I am curious!! I have never really watched a full movie with Alicia Witt in it. What is it about her that drives eveyone crazy?? Lol
I feel like it's all ruined for me now. She is going to be on tonight, and since I am easily influenced, I will probably be throwing tomatoes at my tv screen :rotfl::rotfl:

LOL....
