We are driving from OKC this May for our 2nd time. Last time we drove home on I-10 and we liked that better than going through Ark. and Georgia, but we also went to Jacksonville after WDW to stay a few days w/family and visit beach. This time if we drive back directly from WDW to I-10, are there any good beaches to stop at for a few hours? My oldest got a metal detector for xmas and is dying to use it on a beach and youngest loves the water!

Sorry, but I don't understand where you will be driving to/from. I-10 does go along the gulf coast if you're heading west so there are lots of beaches within a short drive off the highway.

I apologize-I knew what I was saying in my head -LOL! We are driving to WDW from OKC, OK, but on our way home from WDW to OKC, we were hoping to find a good beach to stop at for a while.

OK, that helps. I'll stick with my comment that you can find some beaches close by I-10 in the Gulf Coast area. Anywhere along the FL Panhandle over to Gulfport MS should work. Unfortunately I don't have specific experience there.

Instead of taking I-75 to I-10 on the first day of your return trip, consider leaving I-75 at Ocala and head northwest to Perry, Florida. From there take US 98 west which ultimately runs right along the Gulf.....and I mean right along it! US 98 is 2-lanes but light traffic makes it easy to pass. There are numerous stopping points at various beaches along the way. At Panama City Beach you could head back north to I-10 for the rest of your journey. Or continue along US 98 to Destin and Fort Walton Beach. You've never seen white sand like this.
