IND or SDF to FLL

Southwest just announced that they are going to be making changes to their flight structure. They're going to have far less nonstop flights. They're trying to rebrand themselves. They already started charging for luggage and they're getting ready to start charging for selected seats. They're also going to start using the hub and spoke design that most other airlines use and they'll have far less nonstop flights because of it.

yeah, boo, their "underserved" routes were so handy! Even them moving from ATL is not awesome, I'm not flying through Nashville to get anywhere.....looking into getting a Delta card now :(

For my September Magic cruise with my parents (they live near JAX), I checked BOTH JAX and MCO and from ATL, the JAX flights with Delta were cheaper than anything else between the two airlines and airports....

I fly out of Indy all the time. Southwest DOES fly nonstop to FLL (just did it in April) but it’s very inconsistent. I like to fly nonstop only as well (unless I absolutely have to have a layover). Allegiant also flies nonstop to FLL but they only fly on certain days. It’s worth looking into it though
Days and times just aren’t working out. Like you said the nonstops are inconsistent. So easy to get to MCO nonstop though.

Not happy to hear that. I just figured the cost of our luggage, I think it is 35/45
for bags. So round trip for 4 checked bags will be 320.00. I am a heavy packer so I might have to figure that situation out or not.

We fly first class to keep from being crammed in like sardines and for the legroom (I am 6'4" and I cannot get my knees crushed by the seat in front of me again) and we get two free checked bags. The day that stops and they begin charging FC a bag fee then we start driving.

Wow, I knew about the charging for luggage and paid seats. I hadn't heard they were also moving to the hub and spoke model with less nonstop flights. I'd already started moving away from them in favor of American, this is the final nail in the coffin.

ooo I didn't know they were having "first class", I thought they were just saying "premium seating"! Guess they will have to retrofit their planes.......they're just going the way of all the others......nothing special....

Delta will probably be my go to from now on.....

but about legroom, JetBlue was AMAZING for coach when I flew to JFK in May.....

Sorry. That was a misunderstanding. I don't fly Southwest. I haven't been on the Southwest plane in 15 years. They're not gonna have first class. We're flying on Delta this next trip.

The only airline we fly on is American Airlines or Delta. American Airlines being the first choice.
