Greetings from Aruba. Some comments:

The Cheerleading event was today, and thankfully, busloads of the little creatures are heading to the airports. Hurray!

I thought being slender and attractive was a prerequisite to being a Cheerleader; I guess in the 20 years since high school the standards have slipped.

Don't trust the weather reports! This morning on the CBR in room TV the local news channel had a weather report that was the bleakest I've ever seen: torrential rains, hail, darkness, and severe winds. "Stay indoors" was his advice. Today was 82 degrees and perfectly sunny. One of the best Floridian days we've ever had, and we've been down here plenty.

I don't like the new food court. Those LCD menus are sexy but confusing. The payment lines are too long, and the shelf space for the trays is too short. Now that there aren't any registers at the individual counters, Disney has a reason for only 1 up-front person at lunchtime. It took 20 minutes to get a turkey sandwich today.

The rooms are great. We take for granted the little things now after being at CBR for so many years, but the under-bed storage for all the luggage, the refrigerator space, and the 'hide the crib next to the sink and behind the curtain' trick keeps the 2 year old asleep while the 4 year old watches TV.

The Disney bedtime stories on channel 14 are great.

Those Sony TV's with the input jacks on the front are great. Our folding travel DVD player is a great friend at naptime.

Last, and not least, the best upgrade at the CBR is......drum roll please.......the industrial strength toilets! If you've got a small chlld, you may want to strap him to the doorknob before you flush. The suction is amazing :)

If you're coming to CBR and have any questions.....ask away!

LOL!!! Oh you have me laughing rememebring our trip in february and the industrial strength sucking toilets at CBR. The 1st time I flushed I thought it was going to suck up the shower curtain! Enjoy your trip - I am so jealous!

LOL! Thank you! I needed the laugh, and remembering my 5 yr DS complaining about the toilet being too loud! I was there for two days before I realized my suitcases would fit under the bed, wish they'd fit there in all the resorts.
I hope you are having a magical stay!

I'm glad you warned me about the toilets. I'll make sure my DH is careful around them when we take our trip in May.:teeth:

My real question though is how far is the walk from Aruba to the food court area?

Have fun on the rest of your trip and I hope the weather stays nice.

I'm sure you didn't intend this to sound the way it came out.

Otherwise, it's good to hear your perspective about the latest changes/additions at CBR.

Sweet! I'm a big fan of super powered toilets. :)

I'm scheduled to stay at CBR for two days in May, but can't think of any decent questions. Has the bus transportation been okay, especially to DD? How crowded is the resort now?

LOL, thanks for that! Are the rooms refurbished or just the bathrooms? Have a great trip!

Safety mom - Your pictures are great. I'll have to make plans to stay at CBR on our next trip. We were supposed to stay at CBR on our last trip in May of 2001, but were surprised by DS then 3 months when I had booked the reservation. I had to switch over to POR with the trundle.

after reading the toilet suction line!! We're going Xmas-New Years week to CBR..........the room amenities sound good!!!

Gotta love that "toilet" story. We're going in August for 18 days and can't wait. Do you know if you can still use cups from previous years ? Are the beds still full size and do you still get Mickey soaps, shampoo's etc. ? Hair dryers in the rooms.

Thanks for reporting while you are at WDW. We are curious about the changes at the food court. I hear the bakery is gone. Do they still carry basically the same menu items they used to have. If you waited 20 minutes for a sandwich, I cannot even imagine how long the breakfast waits must be. They used to have a great little cart in the mornings with bananas, cereal, juice, etc. for a quick breakfast. Any chance they brought that back? Did they renovate the Custom House also? We are glad you are having beautiful weather. Have some fun for the rest of us.

I have pictures on my web site of the new food court. They have a grab and go market now if you just want fruit, snacks, prepared sandwiches, wines, donuts, bagels, etc. I think the central check out works nicely. No bakery but they do have desserts in the grab and go market.

We like the new food court. There is a sign on the beverage station stating that you can only use mugs purchased on this trip to CBR. I am sure many will tell you that you can use your old mugs but that is your decision.

The beds are the same, they still give you the shampoo and soaps. The rooms are very nice.

I couldn't see that they did anything different at the Customs house except new costumes for the cast members.

You will have a great time.

Glad to hear those cheerleaders didn't ruin your vacation!!

Glad you had or are having a nice time!!! Just remember to get off the toilet before you flush!!! Those suction toilets are scarey!!! LOL!

Sorry.....the laptop went down and it took me awhile to get internet access.

For those in a jam, there's a Kinkos open 24 hours right past the Crossroads shopping plaza at the end of Buena Vista. Lots of hot babes on the terminals too, but I haven't had any luck despite being alone at midnight while the wife is asleep :)

Some more observations:

1. The toilets also make great hair dryers.

2. Epcot's World Showcase is still too damn dark at night.

3. No matter which restaurant you choose to eat at, it always costs exactly $50 for two adults and two kids meals.

4. We've been here since Friday and the vacation's not even halfway over yet! Yahoo!

5. I know at least three things that safetymom doesn't know. Since she feels the need to expound her expertise on every post related to CBR, this brings me some comfort.

Okay, I'm not above begging. Could you tell us the three things or are you going to make us suffer. It sounds like you are having a great time. We appreciate all your info about the CBR and taking time out from your precious time at WDW to fill us in. We'll be sure to keep small children away from the toilets when flushing. Sounds like you are having great weather and we have a big snowstorm moving in. What I wouldn't do to trade places with you right now. Thanks again for all the great info. I take it all the construction is now gone from CBR?

franw

I have not noticed any construction whatsoever at CBR. It's all gone as far as I can tell.

There is some construction- but it's on the roads. When we came in from the airport on Friday via the Bee Line and I4, we took a few detours up and around to get to the CBR. Besides that, no problems.

At both Epcot and MK, we took full advantage of the Fastpasses; once you go FP you don't go back. It's very tough to wait for rides anymore. Today we got a FP for Jungle Cruise and waited 35 minutes to get on Pirates of the Carribean. Once done with Pirates, we jumped on Jungle Cruise and got both killer rides done in about 45 minutes. Those Dole Pinapple shakes nearby are yummy (according to my 4 year old).

As for the "Three Things That Safetymom Doesn't Know But Boltjames Does"......

Sorry, but I'm going to have to keep those to myself for awhile. This way, I can pounce on one of her threads and make myself sound more knowledgable. I will give you some clues however:

1. Has to do with electricity.

2. Has to do with the internet.

3. Has to do with saliva.

I can say no more, for now.
