Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

How long ago was this feature used, as we've been going to Yacht / Beach club for over 10 years and I don't recall seeing it.
I feel like it's been ages, I remember it from the trips we took in the 90s, maybe early 2000s? We took a break from YC/BC between 2006 and 2013, and I feel like it was gone by the time we returned in 2013 (may not have been, but I don't remember it from any trip since then).

Do you have a reservation at BC/YC/BCV prior to those dates? 8/19 is beyond the 60 days right now, unless you have a reservation that allows you the entra couple days. If they're already sold out 62/63 days out, it's going to be a very tough get......
Last September we couldn't even get a cabana at 60+9! I was really hoping they'd add some more with the renovations, they certainly have the demand for more than four!

Here is a photo of Stormalong Bay from The Tide Tribune, a newspaper that guests were once given at check-in. The bubbling waters can be seen on the left, across from the whirlpool.

Yea, we're still holding out hope they'll add another 2-4 of them. They have that sand area outside the pool area by the lake across the walkway from the cabana entrance/exit - perhaps there would work!!

This inspired me to see if we still had one of these from our trips, and while I haven't found it yet, I found something else that raised some questions about the changes over the years!

I found this guest atlas, and inside is a nice map of what the YC/BC used to look like back in I believe 1996 (this was with all the other 1996 guides):

And one thing really stood out to me....did they move the gazebo!?!?!? Or is this just a graphical error?

Now I need to find pictures from back then, I definitely don't remember it being out by the boardwalk area like on this map!

I have one of those also! I also have a floor by floor map that indicates all of room locations. Wonder if I can find it?

So I just called again about a cabana and was told that I wasn't in the 60 day window to get one on 8/20. I told the very nice woman that I checked in on 8/16 so I should be able to reserve one. She told me that since it wasn't in the 60 day window for 8/20 that the activities people had not released my date yet. Not sure how that works but yesterday morning and this morning I was told none were available. No mention that they weren't released yet for my date. I was just told during this call to call back this Saturday morning which would be 60 days from 8/20.

As others have mentioned here, I guess it's who you speak with as to the answer you receive!!!

Unfortunately, this is the norm no matter what question you are trying to get answered. Known around these parts as "Phone CM Roulette".
I'm petty so I keep notes of every time I call. I've been trying to get a cabana for the 1st week in July so I have made A LOT of phone calls over the last several weeks. I would never share these notes on social media or anything, I just like to keep track of how many times I get the same rep 2x. Almost all the phone reps are polite and nice and cheerful but I have some favorites and least favorites now. I give them all 5 stars regardless of my opinion because being a phone rep is no doubt a difficult job. I think of all the different regional accents one must encounter. But yeah... all the phone rep mileage may vary and some know a lot and some don't know enough.

I’m looking for same timeframe and agree on how different they are with their responses and even how much they search. I asked my favorite so far if I could call his extension directly but he said no :-(. I’m same on survey approach.

Hmmm...interesting, I never give them all the same rating unless it's truly how I felt. Maybe I'm naive, but I'd certainly hope Disney would look at the surveys as a way to fine tune training and retrain when needed. - I guess that'd be pretty difficult to do if people aren't being honest though when they complete the survey.

Both the bubbling area & sinking sands were working when we started staying there in the mid 90s. The bubbling area stopped at least 15 years ago. It was suddenly working one trip, maybe 2018 or so? Then never again. The sinking sands were working right up to the 2020 closure, although they were not nearly as deep as they were originally. By 2021, we didn’t notice them anymore either.

Got same message. I'm glad at least they have a message now instead of just keep trying or the misinformation that they were already booked. Hope the cabanas are amazing when they open in August!
We’ll chat told me they were booked so chat doesn’t have the memo yet, unfortunately.
