I love living on the coast

It's the coast for me. I appreciate the mountains and all other areas of the US, but as a place to live -it can only be the coast.

I've lived my entire life never more than 20 minutes form a beach.

Florida is weird but it has a lot of perks!!

Same here, we moved to Denver, CO in late 1999 and it was beautiful and lovely and we loved it and we moved back to the Eastern Shore of MD within 6 months because we decided we needed to be back next to tidal water. Side effect of living on a boat during childhood!

My daughter went to California State University Monterey Bay for a year and lived on the third floor of a dorm that faced Monterey Bay. But due to the marine layer, she could never see the bay a mile away......until the day we moved her out of the dorm!
She loved the weather, and having the beach a one mile bike ride away. The University is on the old Fort Ord Army base, and her dorm was the old officers quarters. The bike ride to the beach took you past blocks and blocks of abandoned army buildings. And the BEAUTIFUL beach, was Ford Ord's artillery range. A Superfund site that cost $100 million to clean up.

My wife would love to live on the coast. Me not so much. I prefer the mountains. I do like the ocean but would rather visit and let someone else pay for the cost of maintenance. Something is always rusting
