Idaho college murders

My daughter has a white Hyundai Elantra. I wonder if she was investigated. ;)

According to one link above, the suspect asked for responses on social media about motivations for committing crimes and the feelings derived while committing them. Maybe he received few responses and had to find out for himself.

I always found it interesting that U of Idaho and Washington State were only 10 miles away from each other but apparently worlds apart.
I don't know why you think they are worlds apart. Pullman and Moscow are 7 miles apart and college students from both campuses inter mingle. Moscow is the preferred bar scene but, you can party at either campus every weekend even under age. Pullman is a dry campus after a riot several years ago. But, they still party.

you party with alcohol in idaho (insanely cheaper than washington), weed in washington (possession/use in idaho of so much as a single edible is punishable by a year in jail/$1000 fine-and they DO enforce). the apartments and little rental houses that surround the 2 schools are popular party spots (less risk of expulsion if you underage party off campus).

Are you from Pullman or Moscow?

But, what about Jack Showalter? He checks a lot of boxes AND has a history of being creepy to girls. He was clearly seen following them at the food truck and the girls were irritated with him and told him to F*** off in enhanced audio. One of them took a selfie to show him in the background. This could have triigered him. He also owned a lot of knives and was kicked out of his frat. His parents are ridiculously wealthy and donate huge sums to the University.

I haven't vetted it yet but read that he had pictures of him gutting animals with knives. A couple of weeks not too far from the murders, a dog and been skinned and fileted. The police said it had nothing to do with it but, I lived there growing up and these things never happen. For two sadistic acts with a knife to happen within a few weeks and close in proximity is just too coincidental.

Also, it is possible there were more than one person or that more than one knife was used. I can imagine with that much blunt force a knife may break.

Wealthy people can make things disappear.
The person at the food truck was someone different, a guy named Jack. And as of yet there is no evidence that the dog killing was related to this (though I am not sure who you are referring to with the comments about pictures of gutting animals - the food truck Jack guy, who is a hunter, or this guy arrested, ie Brian, who is relatively new to published stories).

We lived in Pullman for a decade (mid00s-15) and treated Moscow/Pullman as one large community. The communities may have had slightly different feels, but no one I know thought of them as being “worlds apart”. Moscow was more granola like with the co-op and fantastic farmers market.

I remember having alcohol on campus in the CUB. But even if the campus is considered dry, Greek row and bars are a stones throw from campus.

In Pullman it’s apartment land and Greek row that are full of intoxicated undergrads. Drinking on campus is more likely to be eviction than expulsion, unless other things are involved (drugging others, sexual assault, etc) which leads to expulsion.

Yes. This is exactly right. Its so funny that you also describe Moscow as granola. I use to talk about the granola people and the rock people that came out for the Renaissance fair and Hemp fest.

My parents performed at the Renaissance fair when Mt. St. Helens blew. My mom said the sky didnt look right and we packed up. On thexway home is started snowing gray ash.

My family moved there when I was six and nothing was there. No malls.

Apparently I was misinformed and I apologize.

I worked with a Washington State graduate and over the years he mentioned several times that while he attended in the late 1980s/early 90s WSU and UI students generally didn’t associate with each other. WSU was a PAC-10 school and Idaho was snobishly considered inferior. And Pullman definitely wasn’t a dry town then.

Glancing at my road atlas I see there’s a multi-lane highway between Pullman and Moscow and lesser roads everywhere else so I guess there IS much travel between the two towns.

the accused is on his way back to idaho, he may already be on his flight back.

Apparently, driven by the FBI, police pulled him over a couple of weeks before he was arrested to see if he had any cuts on his hands. (It didn’t look like he did.)

The info just coming out is so disturbing.

One of the surviving roommates heard crying and saw a masked man.

The surviving roommates have a long road ahead to some sort of a normal life.

You can't see the long scratch/slice in this picture but on the news, you can see it on his right wrist.

Yes, lots of new info out today from court documents that is really disturbing.

One of the surviving roommates stood, frozen, when he walked right by her and out the sliding glass door.

She also heard a man say, “It’s ok, I’m going to help you” and heard Kaylee say, “There’s someone here”. 😭

Horrific new info coming out... those poor kids and their families. Hope justice is served swiftly...

And then didn't think to call the police until almost noon. That part baffles me.

interesting that a 2 year no contact order was requested by the prosecution and approved at today's hearing preventing the accused from communicating w/the surviving roommates and the family members of the victims. i wonder what triggered that. i'm not against it but it's not something i've ever heard of at this stage in a case.
