I didn't back out (as someone had suggested)!!! It wasn't that bad. Took about 20 minutes or so (it is small), but I was there more than an hour. Very relaxing and enjoyed listening to the tat artist with other people before starting. He has dh tat in his portfolio, made me feel good :goodvibes

As soon as I can, I'll get a pic and post it. Thanks for those that offered support :teeth:

Can't wait to see your new artwork!!!!!

That is cool that the tattoo artist had your DH's tattoo in his portfolio...I have to go back once my Dory tattoo is healed so my tattoo artist can take a proper picture for his portfolio.

can those pants go any lower :thumbsup2

So when you are 90 years old and sitting in rocking chair with really old, wrinkly skin....what is your fabulous tatoo going to look like?

My skin is going to look fair and radiant....no old blurry black blobs.

IF I live to be 90 and in good health, who cares what the skin looks like?
even if we look like this guy :chewy:

If I get the pleasure of living to be 90, methinks I could care less what my skin looks like...even at 40, I am wise enough to know that some things in life just don't matter. I highly doubt I'll be on my deathbed with the regret of getting a tattoo....life's too short for that.
My Dh got a tatoo a few years ago...a tribal on his right upper arm...it looks awesome. He's getting ready to go back and get another on his other arm, or one on his wrist. Though DH doesn't particularly care for tattoos on women, he knows I want one and he totally supports me. I certainly am no tramp...just old enough and mature enough to know what the consequences of getting a tattoo could be...and i choose to go for it anyway.

...and now that I think about it, what does a tattoo have to do with one's skin being fair and radiant?? My mom has had a tattoo since she was about my age and she has amazing skin...has always looked about 10 years younger than what she really is.... :confused3

MY, MY, MY.....OH MY......Whew...is it HOT in here???

I always said....that if ever I can get Bono's autograph....I would tattoo it on my body. Of course, if it's after my tummy tuck, then it will be lower than if there hasn't been a tuck. Goodness I dream BIG! :rotfl:

I certainly hope my skin isn't fair and radiant at 90! I want a beautiful map of wrinkles and scars that tell the story of where I've been- when I look at my body I want to be able to see the wrinkles that stand as proof of all the laughs I've had, stretch marks as my battle scars of having babies, and a few scars with great stories behind them from amazing adventures. Plus I'm sure I'll have awful vision by then, so I'll just squint at the mirror and say I'm beautiful! ;)

Someone on the DIS (can't remember who) has a great quote in their signature about the purpose of life not being to get through in perfect shape, but to live-- anyone know what the quote is?

I don't think it's fair to call all tattoos trashy. What about people who get them to remember loved ones that they have lost, or women who get tattoos on their chest after having a to have a mastectomy to turn that area into a beautiful work of art?

Getting back to the OP- Can't wait to see how your tattoo turned out! Now, what are you planning for the next one? :)

Edited to add- For people not sure about what design they want- My plan when I finally find a design I like is to get it as a henna tattoo first- that way you can see how you feel after living with it for a few weeks before taking the plunge! If I'm already tired of looking at it by the time the henna wears off, then I'll know that's not a good idea for a tattoo. If I'm sad to see it fade away, I'll feel better about making it wearable art on a permanant basis.

Sounds like body disfigurement to me. There are better ways to deal with depression. :wave2:

It's by Hunter S. Thompson but I can't find it.

I have stayed away from the comments that weren't supportive as I really didn't ask for them. But this, this is uncalled for.

We lost four babies since 97, three early miscarriages and an eptopic five years later. These were miracle babies, as I had had my tubes tied in 91 after our third child was born. Yes, I suffered depression, but didn't go get a tattoo. My hubby had wanted a tattoo as long as I've known him (and we'll be married 23 years this September). He got a temporary one years ago, just to see and loved it. When he decided that he wanted to get a tattoo to be a tribute to me, I was so touched by his love. I paid for it as a Christmas present and we picked one out together and had the artist put angel wings on it. Thus, my first post on this thread, a picture of that tattoo. He loves to tell people what it stands for. To me, that is wonderful to hear him mention our babies that I thought he didn't even remember at times. In no way does this disfigure his body and he is the farthest from depressed.

Loosing ones breasts to cancer is pretty disfiguring. I have seen one woman who got her chest tattooed over that area, she got a beautiful piece of ate that looks like a jeweled necklace. With her shirt off, you can't tell she ever had surgery.

I love how people who have no tattoos can tell people it's a "Permanent reminder of a temporary feeling" or "There are better ways to deal with depression" when they have no idea what a person who gets a memorial piece or a cover piece done. Until either of those posters walk in the same shoes, they should think before they type.

My tattoos were not done in haste, nor were they to deal with depression, nor were they memorials. I got them because I wanted them, and I like them. If you don't like tattoos, that is fine, but don't presume to know what is in my mind as to why I got them.

And to those who have had the laser to remove them, I think that is fine, too. People change and at least if you don't want a tattoo any longer, there is a way to remove them. My cosmetic surgeon removes gang tattoos for free as part of a special project with the city of Phoenix. It does wonders for those people who have turned their lives around and don't need those gang reminders.

I think it is too cute! I have 2 tats, never regretted them. That is one of the best Pooh's I have seen!

We all have our own opinions regarding tattoos....I hated them for a long time, but my opinions changed and now at age 50 I have one!! and am planning my 2nd one soon! At this stage of life, it's my turn to break bad and I don't care what anyone thinks!! As I told my dd's it'll give the nurses something to talk about when they put me in the home..... this one is Tink and my next one will be Jovi related........I thought long and hard before making the decision, but I love it and have no regrets.....If that is what you really want...go for it!!! Here's my right leg.....
:lmao:

Ditto! wvjovifan, fantastic tattoo! I have been looking for a tink one myself. May have to copy yours but, it might be a little big for my shoulder as that is where I want the next one.
