I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

So I just went into Chase to do my monthly point transfers as I like all of our CUR points on one card.
I first was asked for a text/call for a code to proceed.
Did that one and it went through.
Did another one and it asked for my Pin # on my debit card.
Then asked again for my pin on another transfer to P2's card which I can understand.

P2 did a transfer and nothing was asked like normal.

Has anyone seen these extra security measures for moving points within your own account?
I didn't even touch my Chase biz cards as those points haven't posted yet.

For those that are well versed in Capital One Rewards, could you help a newbie out?

My sister and I (separately) opened the Venture card several months ago in an effort to help pay for airfare for our cruise this summer (we each have a family of 3, so we are looking at purchasing 3 round trip tickets). I think the SUB at the time was 80,000 rewards if we spent $4k in the first 3 months. That part we have completed, all is well.

Now it's time to actually book the airfare. We are looking at Delta flights that we can book directly through Capital one or on the Delta site. My sister is going to come up short on her total points to cover the 3 flights she is booking (I have used my card more, I have accumulated more points to cover my family). If we book through the Capital One site directly, Can you pay the difference as a whole, or will she have to book like 2 of her 3 tickets and pay cash for the last one?

Or should we book through Delta and use the card points to cover the travel purchases once that charge has hit? In that case, can she transfer the total toward the total of the tickets and pay the difference?

I'm not new to credit card rewards as a whole but I am to Capital One and I want to make sure we chose the best option as far as using more points than $$ if possible :)
Does the Venture receive 5x points when booking in the portal? I know the Venture X does. If you can book the same flight as on delta it might be worth it. If using the portal put the whole charge on your card (It will ask you if you want to use points, so say no) so that you can gain the extra miles and then wipe it out later.

I just tried it in my account, transferred from two accounts in my login. I had to get a code texted both times.
P2 doesn't have any currently, that haven't already been transferred so I cannot try his.

I have Hawaiian miles that are useless to me that I may transfer to Alaska. How do you book other airlines with Alaska Miles?
I booked my DS and his GF prem Econ to Madrid for 30k Alaska miles on AA metal. Best part it started from our smaller airport so no separate positioning flight to JFK. You can look at award flights on Alaska and it will show and you book on Alaska. I think I found this by using points yeah.

Yes, yesterday DHs acct asked for text code to transfer within his acct. I could see transfer to external acct but seems like overkill for inter acct.

I'm heading to Naples, FL this weekend, very last minute. My sister was going on a golf weekend with girlfriends and one cancelled last minute. Empty room in the AirBnB plus points to fly down (thank you credit cards!) means an unexpected getaway for me. I'm not going to golf with them, so looking for suggestions of what to do in Naples. Any beach recommendations where I can rent a chair and umbrella. I'm easy to please and will be fine just hanging out, but if anyone has cool suggestions I'd love to hear them.

ETA: I'll have a rental car, so can head to surrounding areas as well.

If I were Uncle Scrooge rich, Naples would be one of my winter homes. Lots of wealth in that part of Florida - trust companies and BMW dealerships on every other street corner.

This is the middle of the stone crab season, so find a place that serves them and dig in!

You might want to go down to this place. It's the end of the road and on the edge of Everglades NP.

Seeking advice. Thought about CapOne for a minute but decided I really would prefer UR, MR or Delta points. I was just approved after recon for another CIP. While browsing DH account seeing if his referral points for referring me last week are pending I noticed that Chase upped his limit on his CIP to 12k from the typical 6k. Got me thinking maybe I should attempt another CIP for him, 90k plus 20k for my referral to him is pretty good right now.
He got his first CIP in 04/24, and then a CIU in 08/24. He also got a Delta Personal Gold in 08/24 aside from that all his accounts are old and he doesn't have very many. Would you lower the credit limit on the existing CIP then apply? Or would you wait and see if they want that at approval?

We will want at least 2 more cards in the next 2 months to pay a very large tax bill. So I also want to apply wisely considering that.

The weather is gorgeous right now!

A couple of nice beaches to try are Delnor Wiggins State Park and Lowdermilk beach in Naples. But really, there is beach access along Gulf Shore Blvd. The parking situation gets a little tricky in the city of Naples. Make sure you park where there is a meter and not in parking for city residents. You will get ticketed if you don't have a resident sticker!

I'm not sure where you can get equipment rentals but your AIRBNB may have them! When we had our unit to rent, we offered equipment to use.

Enjoy a stroll on 5th Ave or 3rd St. South. There's a great Farmers Market on Saturday on 3rd st. South.

If you like kayaking, take a look at tours at Rookery Bay. You paddle in a quiet bay and through the mangroves.

Cool sightseeing boat ride out of Tin City(downtown Naples) to see the fancy homes. PureFlorida is the name of the company. Sometimes they are on Groupon.

Be careful driving....some areas are congested and the drivers here are terrible. Lots of red light runners!

There's a Capital One to Jetblue transfer bonus of 5000 miles. Minimum is 1000 Cap1, which gets you 600 Jetblue (5:3 rate) plus the 5000 bonus. I can see the offer by expanding the Jetblue transfer option in Cap1. For those of you who have both personal and biz, reports are you can do this twice.

No immediate use for them, but adds to my family pool and doesn't expire.

ETA: More DPs coming out. Seems you can do this per card. Too bad I only have one old Cap1.

ETA2: Looks like it’s dead already. Talk about fast!

Add me to the list. Twice this week I was asked to get a code to transfer from my Chase UR accounts to DH's CSR. I thought maybe ti was related to my last Ink app where I was accused of being a fraud repeatedly. Maybe not if you all are getting them too1

Thanks for the response and considerations.

Yes, both hotels appear on the resort credit list. I'm just not sure how much time we'll spend since we'll only stay two nights at each one. That said, it might be worth using the credit for F&B (e.g. a dinner) at the resort vs. a dinner out, which can be very expensive anyway.

While I've already got the hotels booked with points, factoring in the FNC and SUB points for a future stay is definitely worthwhile.

I'm sure I can use the flight credits, and I found a FT thread that shows that the credit options are more flexible than booking just airline fares.

And, of course, there's the Diamond status, which should provide a little more benefit than Gold with the biz card.
DP for the HH Amex Aspire card:
I tried to apply online for the 150k offer a couple days ago and received the pop-up (i.e. pop-up jail) with the message about "not eligible to receive a welcome offer based on various factors, such as your history with credit card balance transfers, your history as an American Express Card Member, the number of credit cards that you have opened and closed and other factors."

After reading up on pop-up jail, I decided to call Amex and see if applying over the phone would yield a different result, especially since the Aspire offer increased to 175k HH points today. Long story short, the result was the same, as the rep received the same message. However, I learned a few things from her:
- If you receive that pop-up message, you will not receive the welcome offer SUB no matter what, e.g. proceed with application and approved OR proceed with application, declined, and call Amex recon line and they approve.
- I clarified that second point with her, as I have plenty of experience with Chase and others whereby I call recon, move CL around from other cards, get approved, and receive the welcome offer for which I was originally declined. However, she said that's not the case with Amex once the system initially determines that you're not eligible for the welcome offer, i.e. you could eventually get approved by recon, but the SUB still won't apply.
- The only alternative she provided was to cancel the application and submit a request for review citing various factors, e.g. history with Amex, last Amex card and offer received, etc. My history is long (1999) and my last Amex SUB was the Biz Plat in Aug. 2023 (all surprised her related to me not being eligible for this offer). She said it's an internal review process and they'll (hopefully) review in 5-7 biz days, but there's no guarantee of that or of me being approved. However, different from a recon after being declined, if they review and agree to reverse the decision, I'll be eligible for the SUB.

Gutsy to trust Amex will keep to their word on this extra internal review thing. Remember, there is no CFPB around anymore to go to bat for you so you gotta take them on yourself if the bonus doesn't post. (Yes, I know the CFPB still exists but they aren't replying to or processing consumer complaints.)

Fun fact- I had a player with 1 Amex card, a lightly used very old card, and they got PUJ. A few days later no PUJ. Nobody gets the inner workings of Amex PUJ...

Agreed, but my understanding per the conversation is that they won't act on their own...just let me know if they can or cannot proceed with the offer.
