I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

Was there a deal on AA to NZ? We are flying from Sydney --> Auckland, but I haven't booked the flights yet. Guess I should get on that now.

I try not to worry about not having backup with me. I am fit and healthy and take all necessary precautions when I travel to limit risks. If I needed backup either my sister or ds could fly to wherever I am and my travel insurance would cover the cost of their flights and accommodations. There are places that I would not consider going solo such as Africa, parts of S. America, certain areas in Mexico, etc.

Destinations I go where my heart leads me; currently that is back to back to Japan next January, perhaps followed by a detour to Labjuan Bajo to see komodo dragons in their natural habitat. Also there are places that I'd like to visit again, such as Norway, Italy (can never get enough of Italy), Antarctica, London (trying for once per year or so), etc. I'd also like to visit Morocco, Iceland, Egypt and Churchill, MB (polar bears!!), to name a few places!
Yup 80k each way on fiji airlines business class probably gone now.

Okay, with the Hilton FNC offers, there appears to be some NLL links out there. I have 5 Amex right now (Hilton Honors, Hilton Surpass, Hilton Biz, Amex Everyday and Delta Gold Biz). I'd need to cancel one of them. My thought is the Hilton Honors. I only have a $.99/mo charge going to it regularly. I won't care if I lose it to PUJ, since I never really spend on it. But can I transfer lines of credit between Hilton cards? The reason I ask is my Honors has a $30k credit line. My surpass is only $9500. I would like to keep some of that $30k to keep my utilization low, LOL. But I don't want to keep all $30k so that I have a chance of getting the NLL card.

I can cancel the card on chat, I guess I can ask about transferring some of the credit line too. I guess another option would be to cancel the Hilton Biz card. It's up for renewal in June. I've debated if I'm keeping it or not. Since you can come out ahead w/ the $60/quarter credit.

WWYD? Cancel the Honors? The Biz? Both (lol)? I'm making my BF do another Honors card. He wasn't keen on having the $150 AF w/ the Surpass, so I'm happy I found the NLL offers.

It can take 30+days for a card to drop from their system after cancellation. You'd have to call to push it through. I wouldn't cancel any cards. If no pop-up, then you can call to cancel one to get it approved.

I think Amex automatically reallocates CL to approve a card, so you probably don't need to do anything there either.

I *think* that you can have more than 1 HH biz card. I'm very tempted with the new FNC offers, but need to meet the MSR on my CSR. I only keep my HH biz cards open a year and close. With the $60/quarter credit on the Surpass why doesn't your BF like the fee? You come out ahead and get gold status which gets both of you free breakfast. 'Dd' just upgraded her basic HH card (she has already had the Surpass) to get gold status for free breakfast on her Japan trip. I immediately put $60 on the room at the LXR that I have booked in Waikiki in September and will use the card when we stay at the Hampton Inn on our way back from bringing her car home from uni.

Fourth call to AmEx today and decided to take the 35K MR for $4k spend retention offer. Guess the offer isn't going to change. Booked my hotel in Amsterdam using FHR then booked airfare for ds and I from Sydney to Auckland in October (PE on Air NZ -- no points booking in PE or biz class) -- MSR almost met.

Hey all! Any World Of Hyatt experts here? I am a Marriott person and don’t know that I’ve ever stayed at a Hyatt. I have to stay at the Princeton Hyatt Regency in the fall. I’ll be transferring Chase points to my (newly opened) Hyatt account to cover the stay. Redemption rate is 12,000 Hyatt points per night. Does this sound like a good deal or should I wait? I don’t want to book in advance and then be refunded points, as I’m never going to be able to use them again, so before I transfer my Chase Points, I want to make sure that’s a decent deal.

*I know that Hyatt is considered one of the best point value chains, but I am not ready to join just yet. Have a bunch of travel planned that my Marriott nights/points are covering.

Hyatt doesn't have dynamic pricing like Marriott. The points are fixed based on category and non-peak/regular/peak. The categories are adjusted once a year with advance notice. So the points won't change unless it's a hotel on the list to be adjusted. You can check here.

They show you the lowest points needed per night though, so check that all your nights are that rate.

It's a definite that you can have more than 1 HH Biz card, I had as many as three at one time (2 for a sole proprietorship and 1 for LLC). But, with the removal of the ability to earn a FNC and the temporary suspension of selling Hilton gift cards online (to use up the credits), the value of holding more than one Biz card is limited to the SUB, unless you have more than $100,000 in organic spend per year and need more 5x.

I just realized how awesome Alaska miles can be. I just booked DD and I on a direct AA flight, that would have cost us 15K AA miles for only 7.5K Alaska Miles. I earned 80K miles from the BOA Alaska Business card, now to get DH to be approved.
Is the BOA Business card hard to get? We've never had any cards from BOA. Is it similar to USB business cards criteria? (which DH did get approved for his first one in December). We are depleting our AA miles fast, and I'm looking at new ways to get more. We've both had Barclays and Citi in the past few months, so those are out of the question. If you can use Alaska miles on AA flights, this may be the best route for us to go for now...

CSP/CSR questions:

1. Will PC a CSP to a freedom affect any trips that have already been booked with points?

2. How long after PC the CSP does he need to wait before applying for the CSR (it's been 48mo)?

Just saw this SW
Beginning mid-March, for flights purchased using Rapid Rewards points, the number of Rapid Rewards points required per dollar of base fare for some flights may vary based upon demand and other factors.

Is this new?
Sounds like they're giving themselves more flexibility to charge more points?

1. You will be able to see the trips in the travel portal under the new Freedom card

2. I believe it's 4 days after PCing -- that's how long I waited.

It's 48 months since earning the URs; you can check your statements online to see when you received the points.

Oh thanks! I checked and his URs were awarded on his 3/5/21 statement so sounds like he should be good to apply by end of next week.

I received a target 75K SUB, but the current 70K SUB isn't bad.

I think it is similar to USB approvals.

Havent applied for CIP yet for DH. I went ahead and applied for the 100K Venture floating around for myself. At first preapproval denied, pretty great they email you right away with why. I had only unlocked 1 credit bureau. I unlocked equifax and tried again approved!
DP: Applied for capone leaving experian locked. I only unlocked experian when recently applying for CIP.

I don't think the concept is new, as SW has always done demand-based pricing. I have multiple SW flights booked with points for this year, and they all had a different value per point, e.g. 1.3, 1.4, 1.6, 1.7. In addition, by monitoring fares every now and then, I've been able to receive point credits three separate times for a flight I booked just over a month ago.

Alaska biz seems hard. There are many denial DPs on r/churning. Having a deposit account of at least $5000 is supposed to help. There might be a 7/12 rule for new accounts including business because reports are they pull D&B.

My own DP is I've had this card twice now. Closed first, opened second a few months later. I closed the second a couple months ago. Would like to try for a third, but hesistant with all the denials. I have a very old BoA account, but less than $5000 in it.

There's been discussion that the Barclays/Bank of Hawaii Hawaiian card is a different product than the Barclays Hawaiian card and you can get both. The system will see it as the same though and you'll be denied, but recon will recognize that they're different. Link

There is also the option of transferring Amex to Hawaiian (for now) to Alaska.

How long did you have the first one before you closed it?
