We haven't seen any price drops for our July European cruise, flights, or our October cruise out of NYC. Did snag decent flights on Spirit down to Orlando in November though. Still need to get flights to NYC in Oct.

This is totally off topic, but I thought someone here may have some words of wisdom. My DS (18) will hopefully be applying for his learner's permit and then getting his license soon. I'm trying to figure out the MA proof of residency requirement. We homeschool and the only doc I can provide is a transcript. He has no bills or anything in his name and I'm don't think he can actually get anything in his name without an ID. A regular permit/license only requires 1 residency doc, but REAL ID requires 2. I'm assuming it makes more sense to get the REAL ID. What I don't understand is whether he can get his permit with the 1 doc and then use that permit as the 2nd doc for the REAL ID license. Or, does he have to choose the REAL ID path at the permit step thus needing 2 docs? Has anyone been through this?

I don't have experience with that one, but many young people at that age don't have the required residency info. You may need to go with him and take your residency documents. Does he have a birth certificate from MA and a SS card? I would say call the DMV and ask but that often is a royal pain.

My girlfriend got a good price on her flight up to visit me/see the Def Leppard & Motley Crue concert in July. I told her to wait longer, they might pay her fly, lol.

All my travel through the rest of the year is booked and paid so no deals there save for possibly my WDW tickets. I will now wait to get them until the last possible minute before 60 days out. I highly doubt there will be any deals on them but you never know, crazier things have happened.

There is already talk of tax relief for vacation-related industries and someone on CNBC was talking about a bailout earlier this morning. Funny I called that on a DCL thread last night and was told Disney couldn't possibly be eligible for one because "Bahamas registry." I didn't think that even warranted a response from me.

Meanwhile I am on a "vacation" day today. Quotes because I worked all morning on coronavirus-related messaging for our employees. My headache from the worst ear and sinus infection of my life has finally abated. I was so sick Wednesday, it honestly scared me. I made it until 2pm at work yesterday and had to come home. I am hoping I am now on the upswing!

Can you add him to one of your credit cards (preferably a business card if you/he care about 5/24)? Make a small charge and don't sign up for e-statement (or print off the e-statement)?

Proof of residence----do you ever get medical or dental bills/statements with his name on it, even though someone else is the payer? We used one of those for younger dd (also homeschooled but in DE) and a piece of junk mail that was addressed to her. This is the list from our state:
Please provide TWO of the following for proof of Delaware residency:
  • Utility Bills
  • Credit Card Statement
  • Auto or Life Insurance policies
  • Voter Registration Cards
  • Bank Account Records
  • Employment Records
  • Rental Agreements
  • U.S. Postal Service change of address confirmation form/postmarked mail with forwarding address label
  • Other non-personal mail postmarked within the last 60 days

Quick question! I have a weekend Universal trip planned for May on an APH rate. My CSR fee just renewed and I can cancel and rebook for a lower APH rate. Does booking a hotel through Universal trigger the CSR travel credit? I know it doesn't for Disney but don't know about USO. I thought since it's run by Loew's it might be different.

I'm not sure if it's different because your son is 18, but my DD (16) got a read ID a few months ago and "direct verification by a parent or guardian" was all she needed. I was paranoid about that also, brought in my out utility bills, etc, with the address just in case, but they didn't look at them. I think for her, I just had her birth certificate and SS card.

I don't have a CSR, I have CSP, and Uni reservations come up as Loews Hotels, definitely code as travel. But all my WDW room reservations code as travel also. I thought all hotel reservations would trigger the credit, as long as it codes travel? Disney tickets don't come up as travel.

Don't know if this helps, but I'm in MA also and renewed my licence to a REAL ID in January. I went to the DMV in Braintree, and although it said I needed 2 docs for proof of residence, they only asked for one. I had my old license, passport, SS card and a utility bill. Not sure if it's a YMMV situation, but if you can come up with one, it might be enough.

I got bg 34 this morning but the ride at dlr didn't start til 1030 after an 8am open and then went down for a bit. Finally got called about 1220. Impressive ride system and I hope they eventually use it for an ip I'm interested in so I can enjoy it all instead of for just what it does.

Light crowds today, been getting a lot done which is great. Does make me realize that even though I'm a west coast gal, wdw will always be my home park.

Help with two questions please :thanks:

Recent airline changes have resulted in the United/Austrian nonstops to Vienna (EWR and IAD) to be taken off the schedule.

I need to get dd to Vienna on a specific day for the start of her internship. If I go with UR--> United, I have the choice of these cities for her to transit (longer first flight would be on United, second hop would be on Austrian):

Frankfurt (2.5 hr)
Brussels (3 hr)
Geneva (2.5 hr)
Amsterdam (2.75 hr)
Stockholm (2 hr)

  1. Which of these airports are better for someone who has only flown nonstop internationally? I eliminated all layovers shorter than 2 hours.
  2. I still need to look at the options for transferring MR to airlines. Which airlines can be booked for another person using your own points/miles?

NCL is following RCCL's lead and updating their cancellation policy. Waiting for official publication but appears similar and covers cruises through September with future cruise credit good until YE 2022.

Is flying out of JFK an option too? I don't know your dates but Austrian Airlines usually flies direct to/from Vienna there as well.
