I have two trips booked for Disney in November and early March. If it was up to my DH we would already have cancelled November but I am holding out hoping we can still go. He says he won’t fly until there is a vaccine, so we may still go in March but drive down when we have more time off from work to do so.

I am hopeful for Japan... still... for November.

For DL my husband and older son won't go if there is a m*** requirement, but my younger son and I will so I am still hopeful for this summer.

I am reasonably certain I could wear a mask on vacation as long as the temps aren't comparable to Florida in May. I have to wear one on certain areas of club property (working out outdoors) and I find it really hard to breathe (I've always had trouble coping with extreme heat, dating back to my childhood). I think as long as a mask only has to be worn indoors I'd be okay. But in crowded outdoor spots I'd probably wear one for my own piece of mind.

These decisions are so much harder when flying is involved. It's why I don't consider our WDW trips like real vacations I suppose. We are a 3 hour drive away so no real decisions have to be made about going or not going and considering whether or not we want to fly. We also have October and November trips on the books for WDW. I think the next real vacation I plan, that involves any thought and planning will likely be to DLR. I honestly thought about booking New Zealand with ABD but the last thing I want to do is figure out how to travel hack the flights right now.

Are you going to Capitol Reef Nat'l park? We did a couple really nice hikes there, but I've gotta go back and figure out the names. We fell in love with Capitol Reef. Gorgeous park and few people.

Bryce - not so many choices. We took the hike everyone takes, down the switchbacks, across the bottom and up the other side. I don't recall trail names, but it will be obvious I think when you're there.

Zion - we hiked Angels Landing. It was scary, and there were TONS of people. I wouldn't recommend it or do it again.

Oooh and we did a terrific hike in Grand Staircase Escalante that ended in a GORGEOUS waterfall. It was a highlight and the hike was easy. I'll have to look that one up too. We stopped to do this hike while driving between Capitol Reef and Bryce.

I love those Utah parks. You will have a great time!

Stunning waterfall - I wish we could have included Grand Staircase Escalante on one of our trips out west - maybe next time.

I loved Angels Landing at Zion though. Hiked it with DS15 and DD12 - thought it looked a lot scarier than it actually was - and it felt so rewarding to make it to the top.

I booked a trip to Singapore and the Maldives today (first leg), leaving April 27th. Toronto to Singapore via Taipei on EVA Air. Five nights at the Conrad Singapore (cash price was quite inexpensive so I didn't want to 'waste' valuable points). Seven nights at the Conrad in the Maldives (the WA doesn't have 5 nights consecutively past July of this year) in an overwater bungalow (5 nights points and 2 FNCs)! Haven't booked the flight from Singapore to the Maldives but I plan on using URs for that with Singapore Air. I could have flown with Singapore Air out of Newark (direct to Singapore) or EVA from Toronto via Taipei. After some quick research I learned that EVA Air gives business class passengers pajamas in business and a nice amenity kit, so I booked with EVA. Both EVA and Singapore are Star Alliance partners and I was able to book our flight with Aeroplan miles; taxes were $105.00 (total for both dd and I).

Home leg will be Male to Doha (Qatar with URs) and Doha to London (5 nights) to either JFK (if I can snag first class -- too early to book) or Toronto (in business class).

Since everything can be cancelled with no penalties I am very happy with this plan! Dd really wanted to visit both Singapore and the Maldives (I would've preferred a stop in Sri Lanka or India on the way to the Maldives) so she is excited as well!

I'm trying to figure out my next application and have a few questions. Any feedback would be appreciated! :thanks:
  • Anyone familiar with the US Bank Leverage biz card? $7500 MSR/4 months/$750 SUB. Which leads to my next question...
  • Does anyone have experience with having two US Bank biz cards? I read on DOC that they're tough to get approval for. I have the Biz Edge and I remember having to talk to someone about it to get approved. Do they value ongoing spend? I haven't spent much on my Edge card since meeting MSR.
  • For a Chase MDD, do you have to be 3/24 or can you be 4/24? I tried to find the Reddit page about it but didn't see it (but am pretty Reddit illiterate). If anyone has a link I'd appreciate it!
  • For Chase referrals, do I have this correct? CSP can refer to a CSP, but not a CSR? Still thinking about having DH PC to a CSP and refer me. Seems like UR's will be harder to come by now, so maybe I shouldn't gloss over that opportunity. That's also why I'm really considering the MDD, but not sure now is the right time to go for it.
  • Ok, lastly (I think, for now) - since Chase isn't currently approving Sole Prop's for biz cards, I'm thinking there isn't a huge reason to apply for a Chase card every 3 months now, agreed? There are several personal cards I'm considering, but I'm three months out from my last Chase approval so in the old way of thinking, I would pretty much always go for a Chase biz card every 3 months. Now I'm thinking it's just whatever card I think is the most valuable, and keeping in mind my 5/24 status and what future cards I may want to try for from Chase, is that how everyone else is approaching their strategy?
Sorry to be so long-winded! I'm just really indecisive on where to go from here. :goodvibes

Cancelled our September Europe trip yesterday :( We are tentatively rescheduling for next April. I will be able to rebook the flights at the end of next week, but it's hard to muster enthusiasm at this point. This will probably be the first time I book a trip & don't really feel excited about it.

DH is now on an "I never want to go to China" thing because the Shanghai Disney phone operators were extremely rude to him, so who knows when will we actually get there.

2020 stinks!

That's what I was doing too. I picked up the Barclays JetBlue card with the 60K bonus. I want to stay under 5/24 so I will be ready if/when Chase starts approving sole props again. I was 3/24 & didn't want to just do nothing. I figured the 60K would come in handy at some point. I'll be back at 3/24 in August & at that point will either do an IHG card or whatever else I think we could get some value from. Hopefully by November we will see some movement on the Chase biz front. It's lousy having absolutely no plan.

I can't help on the US Bank, but you are not alone in questioning where you go from here. I believe you can be 4/24 and do the MDD. I think in this environment that option is definitely worth considering. And yes, CSP can only refer to CSP, so I'd definitely take advantage of the cross support from DH.

To your last point I would agree that will be my approach. But some will see no reason to stay under 5/24 without Chase biz cards in play. Personally I'm not quite ready to go there yet. One thing I will be looking at is if I go over 5/24 how much longer until I get back under. So if there is a card out there that I think is a good value I'd be willing to go over if my next card will drop off in say the next six months. But I'd think harder about it if it was a year or more. While we know that Chase business cards are off the table right now, no one knows how long that will last and until more time passes I don't want to lock myself out of Chase for a year or more in case it does change.

Exactly!! If we cancel November it is ok, we can bank those points. They are BW 2020 points, but March is using up 2019 banked points from our cancelled trip this past March. Is still have until September to use them but if we don’t go in March I doubt we would go before September. I suppose I could try to rent them. Or if I could get a room we could try going to Vero. If we go down in March and drive we were planning to spend at least a couple more weeks on Florida anyways. We aren’t even thinking about planning a trip anywhere else right now.

Hey, I haven’t been on forever, but I’m here lurking.

I have a few updates.

We had a first DVC stay on our own points in March at the Polynesian. We were there right before the parks closed. Our last day was March 14th. Probably wasn’t a smart idea knowing what we know now and I didn’t enjoy myself the last few days we were there. When we got back tho we put in an offer on a Poly contract at $120pp and it got accepted. Waiting for ROFR still.

We were supposed to go to Italy in April. That was canceled.

We booked a dapper day trip to Disneyland in April instead. When we realized that wasn’t happening we booked a dapper day rate for Disneyland in June. Those were both canceled.

We normally vacation with DHs family at their lake house for a week. DHs parents don’t want us all going together this year.

We have a backstage magic ABD for December. I’m not sure if we are doing this. I may move my deposit to 2021.

MS has been on hold. I’m disappointed I’m not able to take advantage of all these extra points at grocery stores.

I need to start planning my 2021 travel. I have no plans so far. Well WDW for the 50th is definitely happening lol

So great to hear from you! I’ve missed the great MS stories and help. I haven’t loaded my serve since early March. Sorry about all your ruined plans. It just stinks, all the way around.

So glad you posted! I was wondering if everything was ok. I'm sorry about having to cancel the trips. I get it. I'm sad about canceling ours and I really don't even know what to plan at this point.

Wife and I decided on our next WDW trip today. We are going to do either the Princess Half Marathon in 2021 and try to get in on some of the 50th Anniversary shenanigans, or do the Half during Marathon weekend 2022. We were supposed to be going to Paris and DLP March of 2021 but haven't booked anything yet, too many moving parts to figure out.

So I learned an important lesson tonight. Sunday is bill paying day, and I learned that while I pay very good attention to what I charge and owe, I don’t pay enough attention to my actual statements.

I decided to check the credit limits on all my cards, because I’ve heard that issuers are dropping them due to worries about the economy due to Covid-19. Ive got two old citi and cap one cards. No changes there. But Chase? Aye carumba. None of the changes are recent; I just never really noticed them. My Reserve, which will get the ax later this year, went up a little bit. I would say that besides any MSR card, which right now is Southwest, it is my most used card, which might explain the increase.

On the other hand, I have an ancient Slate card (1995) that I only put a charge or two on a year to keep it active. It used to be my highest credit line, but I chopped it down a lot a while back in anticipation of applying for more cards, and it has since been trimmed another $1000. I also decreased my Marriott at the same time, and at some point they chopped that in half, to $2000. None of these changes matter all that much to me, particularly since I rarely use these two cards, just enough to keep them active. I’ll be reevaluating my Marriott, also, when the fee comes due because of the increases in points needed for nights. I used to get good value from the card in NYC, but last time I looked I think there was only one hotel that would work for me for my free night certificates.

Anyhow, I vow to pay more attention to the ENTIRE statement from now on.
