I know it's not accurate and I know this is a topic of redundancy but...

I was chatting with a friend who said he read in the Frommer's Unoffical Guide to WDW 2001 that by owning timeshare in Disney you qualify for Florida Resident Discount - you need to show your purchase contract and a picture ID. I told him it was my understanding that according to the DVC we are NOT considered Florida Residents (that is unless we really do live there!). Has anyone else come across this guide book? Has anyone called WDW to confirm it? Just wondering (or should I say hoping ;) ).

There have been a few threads on this topic. Unfortunatley, we DO NOT qualify for the Florida resident pass. Do a search for "Florida Resident" and you should find the specific requirements.

It is actually in our contract that just by owning DVC we are not considered to be Florida residence. Beleive me I wish it were not true

Not to be redundant myself. But I specifically remember signing my documents last September when we bought DVC, one of the pages was a form that specifically stated that by signing it We (you) understand that by buying DVC, it does NOT qualify you as a Florida resident.

This keeps coming up....I wonder whatever possessed the Unofficial Guide to go ahead and publish what is just untrue? Maybe somebody there owns DVC and wanted to give them a push? ;)

I also remember signing the document. I just found it curious that the statement would be made in Frommers and was wondering if others have seen the statement and attempted to "cash in" on it...

Maybe that's a good reason why it's "unofficial". ;)

There may be some Timeshare, someplace in FL, where the documents required by Disney are suitable to receive the FL Resident's Pass- but the guide certainly did NOT bother to check with DVC (or Disney) to confirm the comment. The place to inquire about this is with Sehlinger, not DVC as the DVC policy is pretty clear.

Nothing like a little research now is there! You would think the people who would dare to put out an "unofficial" book on WDW would at least check out the DIS ;) These are the answers I expected, and suppose knew the answer already, but I told my friend I would check it out...thanks once again!!
