How many trips did you take to WDW before you bought DVC?

Just wondering how long it took each of you to finally make the leap.:bounce:

At least seven, sad to say. It really gained in appeal as they added on resorts.

4 but I new I was going to buy after 2nd

We went to WDW about 15 times before we bought into DVC back in 95. We stayed most of the time in the Disney Inn, tried some of the moderates renting 2 rooms, Dixie Landings and Port Orleans, somewhere in there we stayed off site in these condos that were new at the time, then when I called in 94 looking for a nice place to stay we we given DVC much to my surprise, it is now known as OKW. I loved the place and bought in 95 after learning you did not have to be a mulit-millionaire to belong.

I'm sure the answer for most people is "Way too many!" :teeth:
For us, at least in our adult life (not counting all the times DBF or I went with our respective families when we were kids), we shelled out cash for hotels for 11 trips total (offsite 7 times and onsite 5 times) between 1996 and 2002. If only we'd bought back in 1996! The price direct from Disney was only $62.75.

We've paid for four trips to DW. One of those trips was a honeymoon for our daughter and her husband. Our last trip was for our whole family, and consisted of 3 rooms at the WL for 8 nights. Sure wish we had joined the DVC before that trip!

Six trips, I guess we are slow learners.

We didn't think we could afford DVC, but when the kids became teenagers we were facing the extra adult charge for the room and we were out growing the All-Stars space wise we looked into DVC.

We loved our stays at All-Stars, Carribean Beach and Coronado Springs. We were park commandos then, but have slowed down and now also enjoy the resort amenities. We were never in our room except to shower and sleep, so those days were spent making family memories in the parks. DVC provides a whole different vacation experience at a place we love.

2 times for us!

First trip together was in 1993 on our honeymoon....at that time we couldn't be bothered by those "pesky timeshare carts" ;)

In 2002 we went back with our kids and the DVC bug hit me bad....took me 2 years to convince DH but he finally agreed and now we are very happy owners at BWV and BCV.

Exactly 12. I wish I could get back some of the money and put it toward DVC that we spent for those connecting rooms at the Poly over a few Easter Vacations.:earseek:

I guess we are really a rare breed. We bought Hilton Head in 97 after taking a vacation there. Then when we had extra points the first year and used them to take our first family vacation to DisneyWorld. We had a great time and have gone back there and Hilton Head almost every year since. We just use studios and one bedrooms instead of the two bedroom we thought we would use.:D

I had visited WDW 3 times when I decided DVC was for my family. The first two trips were immediately following (1999) and 1 year after (2000) a separation. Both were with extended family staying off site, way off site.

Then I met the perfect man and we were married July 29, 2003 at the Wedding Pavillion. We stayed in a two bedroom at BWV. I was hooked. So was my new husband, however it just wasn't the right time.

So almost a year later I received a nice bonus from my work and put it down on 150 points at SSR. It ment making some lifestyle changes to fit the payments into my budget/savings, but we are so looking forward to our first trip home to SSR in December.

This was my husband 1st anniversary gift, what better paper to give someone than a deed to DVC. So in 8 years when this is paid off, well I plan on starting to plan my 10 year vow renewal at WDW.princess:

I grew up out west so I had been on a few trips to DL.
In all of our trips we never stopped at the DVC carts, Even though we admired the construction of SSR last summer.
We realized last summer that we needed more space for our family of 5. I started looking into renting pts for a 2brm for our Dec. trip. The more I started researching DVC and reading this board I realized it would be great for us. I had to get my DH past his Timeshare phobia. I won him over basically when I showed him the how much the total was of our last 3 WDW vacations and that we could have easily bought about 150pts.
So I convinced him I could keep my van for a few more years and we used some of our new car money to buy our BWV resale.:D

We have been to WDW 7 times plus once on the Magic. We've gone to the DVC presentation at least twice at WDW and on the cruise as well. Even though we felt we could not afford to buy into DVC, we still ended up going every year and paying big bucks at the resorts. Finally took the plunge (several times) this year. You know what they say -- hindsight is 20/20 vision!!

One. We stayed in a 2bdrm on a cash ressie at OKW in '96. We were planning a trip for Feb of '99 with now 3 dds. When DH called and got prices for rooms, I asked, what was that vacation club we saw in '96. Called DVC and we bought BWV site unseen in Oct '98. Loved it so much, bought an OKW resale in '02.

Nine trips between 1993 and 2003. Finally realized in 2003 that this was definately an annual trip and purchased resale at BWV last year.

I'm coming up on my 9th trip. My DH and I have visited 7 times in the past 10 years. We finally figured that this is pretty much becoming an annual thing...so DVC makes sense. Especially since our girls have officially become Disney Addicts now LOL!

So....we're in the process of buying!

My in-laws joined in 94 and let us use their points for our honeymoon in 95. We fell in love with WDW and returned 5 times (twice with their points, three times on our own) before deciding in 2000 that we should just buy our own membership. What a great decision!

Just two. First trip was off Disney grounds... before DVC was around. The second was at CR. We were too busy to stop and talk to the DVC sales people..... we called as soon as we returned home. Bought BWV then later on BC. Just love it!
