I've heard that in a lifetime, the average person will change careers three times. How many different careers have you had?

I've been a hairdresser, an executive secretary, an accounts receivable clerk, a credentials coordinator, shooting for a teacher, and let's not forget a student and a mom. And in a past life "almost" a realtor...passed the school exam, missed the boards by one point.

I think I'm well past three careers. LOL!

My first full time job was processing insurance applications at Prudential. I was a real estate secretary (2 years), a casino security guard (3years), receptionist/assistant for an oral sugeon (3 years) and I am the office manager at my present job(13 years and counting).

This is my first full time real job. I actually get paid vacation... :) yahooo I was very excited about that yesterday :) I am in real estate relocation.

I guess every job I've had has been different, so I've had 4 different careers since graduating college (5 if you count my current shift in job responsibility)...

Info. Systems Auditor for a drugstore chain
Budgeting Analyst for the same drugstore chain (until they got bought out)
Assistant Controller for a title insurance company

and my current career:

Oracle Financials Consultant (formerly a Visual Basic/MS Access programmer, on a previous project).

I decided in high school to do hair for a living. I was 14 at the time. Now I'm 37 (almost 38). It is all I have ever known. At this stage of the game my body is starting to feel the 20+ years...

I had 3 part time jobs when I was a senior in high school (all 3 at the same time;) for little awhile). I think I'm over the limit too.;)

Let's see......after highschool, I've worked at a Bakery, Victoria's Secret, a drugstore, I've waitressed (restaurant and cocktail, worked at a dive school, sold cars, sold jewelry, secretary, I was a photo editorial assitant at the Enquirer, ***'t bookkeeper, and my current job Project Administrator at an Engineering co. (read: receptionist who occasionaly works on projects doing admin. stuff)

Oops, I've also worked at a hotel and was a telemarketer for one day.

I've had 3 but all were in the same sort of industry... Publishing, Television and Radio.

Waitress
Bartender
both of these were in college

Art Director
stepped down after I had my first child

Graphic Artist
Creative Consultant
did this until now

And starting November 10, my official title will be HR Recruiter

Oh, and throughout, I've been a freelance artist on the side. :)

Store Manager of Limited Too for 6 years, and now I am a travel agent. It's something I've always wanted to do, and I am so glad I made the career change when I did!
So I guess that's two careers in my 29 years....

I was an executive secretary for three years, worked at a bank (bank teller/merchant credit card) one year, technical sales consultant for a telecommunications company, one year, and I am doing administrative work at a college currently...

However, I have also been a waitress (posh and non-posh settings), day care provider, fruit picker, retail worker, party coordinator and last but not least gymnastic instructor... (None of these is what I would consider a career though)

Plus mother, wife, etc..
