How long did your kid's LL Bean backpack last?

I probably already responded when this thread first came out but just to update, bought DS his in 5th grade and it's still going strong his sophomore year! It was the best $12 I ever spent (got it on clearance!)

I purchased my daughter's LL Bean backpack when she was in 6th grade. She is still using it and she just started her junior year of college! Best backpack ever. Before this one we went through a couple each year.

got my son's back pack when he started 2nd grade, he is still rocking it junior year in high school! before that we needed a new 1 every school...my daughter just got her first LL Bean bag when she started kindergarten last year.

Our kids had 3 Beans backpacks throughout elementary, middle, high school, college. The backpacks did not wear out but the kids got sick of having the same color/design after while. We donated the backpacks when they got new ones.

I still own an Eastpack backpack that I bought for myself for college 32 years ago. It seemed like alot of money at the time but buying quality pays off.

My son has a Swiss gear backpack we got him 3 years ago. Didn't pay a fortune for it but it has held up well.

He got it in first grade, and is now going into fifth. It pretty much looks new. Younger ds is on his third backpack (not ll bean) in that same time period.

This is the fourth year for my kids LL Bean backpacks - they look brand new.

My kids all got a LLBean when they started K. The 2 older ones got a bigger one when they started 7th grade/middle school (youngest still has 2 years to go) but their back packs were still in excellent shape just smaller then what they needed.

Got my oldest son an LLBean backpack in 2000. He used it everyday at school for 10 years, then handed it down to his brother who is still using it daily. 16 years of daily use and abuse and going strong!

Here's one for you: I got my LL Bean backpack when I started high school in 2001. It's now 2016 and while I'm no longer in school it's still in great shape and I take it with me anytime I fly! I think one of my aunt's got it for me and spent around $40-50. If I ever do decide to go back for grad school at least I know I won't have to spend money on a backpack!

My first one (Deluxe Bookpack 1995) lasted 4 years with 60 lbs of books a year on a school with a campus and lots of walking and no locker. The zipper finally broke. My second one (Deluxe Bookpack 1999) lasted 5 years under the same scenario before I lost it. Everything was functional and in good shape. My 3rd one (Super Deluxe Bookpack 2011) I used for 1 year with 30 lbs on a campus with lots of walking before I sold it on ebay bc I just didn't like the print. It was in near perfect condition. I loved those bags so much I bought one earlier this year (Deluxe Bookpack 2016) for my carry-on for traveling and its in perfect shape as well. I am expecting with such infrequent use that is will last 15+ years.

It is not an LL Bean back pack but my daughter saved her money an bought a blue checked North Face backpack. She used it for 4 years of high school and 3 of her years in college. Now my grandson is on his second year of using it in middle school and it still looks brand new. My daughter was in nursing school so she lugged that thing all over Michigan State campus packed full of heavy anatomy and nursing books plus her computer. It was pricey but it was money well spent.

I had my first one (an original) from 3rd-5th grade (so 1997-2000) and upgraded to a deluxe for middle school. That deluxe lasted until the end of 7th and was turned into a dance bag and replaced with another deluxe. The first one was extremely dirty because my middle school wasn't very clean. I had the second deluxe bag through the end of 10th grade, when it tore on my gym locker. I replaced it for 11th grade with a Super Deluxe, which I used in college and am still using it for grad school and travel and it's still in great condition.

LL Bean has a great return/replacement policy, but I know it doesn't mean I get a free replacement backpack for life.
That's exactly what it means. DD has had hers replaced twice. She no longer uses that backpack but it's due to be replaced again. I just need to get over there one of these days (we live near the LL Bean store). They are fantastic. You just walk in and they have you go grab a new one. No questions asked. Couldn't possibly be easier.

I think our current ones are four years old. This will probably be little dd's last year with hers because we bought her the jr size and she's in first grade now and I don't know if it will hold her text books well. They're in great condition. All three girls had a back pack they used at different times over that four years so none of them have been in solid four year rotation, but they've been in use at least three of the four years and they're in good shape. No complaints.
