How long did it take for your bags to arrive in your room?

I checked In at 4PM Put my carry-on in room and hopped on bus to MGM Activated my AP and went to Fantasmic and Osbourn lights Did a couple of rides and walk tru shopping and got back to room around 10:30 and my bag was there right inside room. I was staying at POFQ Piece of cake.

By asking the poll you're missing the point of DME. The bellhops are pre-tipped and the luggage is delivered even if you're not in the room.

In other words most of us don't know how long the luggage took because we weren't in the room waiting for it. Use carryon luggage for whatever you'll need for the first half day and don't worry about it. Both times I used it my luggage got to my room in less than 4 hours. I don't know how much less my first trip I was at the pool and didnt' get back to my room for 4 hours, my luggage was waiting. My second trip I went to the PM for lunch and walked around CSR. Likewise my luggage was in my room when I returned, 2-3 hours after I checked in.

Everything I've read says it normally takes under 4 hours.

we arrived in florida at 11:00 am. and checked in to AKL and then went down to the mara to have a bite to eat ..... went back to the room before going to MK and our bags were there....... i think the ME service was great!! vicki

We just got back today from an 8 day trip and used Magical Express... we got to the resort about 11:30 in the morning and our room was ready so we went to the room and freshened up and then went to MK till later in the evening. When we got back to the room the bags were there so we really don't know how long it took. Whole service worked very well for us and was virtually seamless.

Evidently Disney is only guaranteed to be able to have this service through the end of the year due to the existing agreement with the Orlando Intl Airport authority. Seems that the service has created quite a bit of tension among folks at the airport (taxi and bus services claim that DME has cut-out a large portion of their business), so nobody really knows what the service will be like (paid, free, etc) after this year. I'll try and withhold my personal comments on that (the taxi and bus folks wouldn't like my view).

Anyway, I don't know how long it took for the bags to get to the room, but overall the service worked great.

Actually, an article in today's Orlando Sentinel said WDW and MCO reached an agreement to keep DME through at least 2011. If there will be any charge for DME srating in 2007 has yet to be announced. According to the article, WDW was under pressure to get this contract done because they haven't been able to offer/guarantee DME past the end of 2006. The article was only about the agreement with the airport. Again, there is no official word on any future cost (or not) of DME.

We checked in at 4:30 and went to the food court. Returned to room at 5:30 and the luggage was there!

Our luggage took over 6 hours to get to the room, but I would still use ME. It was very convenient and best of all, free!

Yes I am!

Thanks, for everyone who replied. (and yes I know the point of ME :rolleyes1 )

I've used ME several times and loved it, but I'll need my suitcase shortly after arriving. I'm usually a drop my bags and run to the park person, but I have dinner ressies and want to be able to change first. I just wanted an idea of what others experiences were.

Have a great day everyone!

Are you packed Barb! LOL, I know you are!

I didn't vote because it makes a difference when you get into your room. If you check-in at 11 a.m. but your room isn't ready, then your bags have nowhere to go. So...then your room is open for you at say, 3:00, and your bags get there an hour later...how do you measure that? Is that 5 hrs later, or an hour later? I have gotten my bags delivered to me within an hour of being in my room. But, I did have to wait for that room to be ready (about 2 hrs.)

I didn't vote bacause I'm not sure if we were under an hour or 2 hours as we weren't there! We went to our room to drop off our carry ons and clean up a bit, went to the food court for dinner, and when we got back the bags were there.

DME was great. I'm having a hard time deciding whether to skip the rental this year as it's cheaper to pick up the car at the airport and keep it all vacation than it is to pick a car up at the Dolphin for part of the trip, but I really want to use DME again.

I voted an hour after check-in.

However,

1st ME trip, I checked in about 3:00 pm, left for the parks and when I got back to the room about 2:00 am, the bag was there.

2nd ME trip, I arrived at Ft. Wilderness rather late (midnite) and by the time I checked in and went to the restroom, my bags arrived, so they took both me and my bags to my campsite at the same time.

Our upcoming trip in May, we will be checked in and at the parks by 1:00 pm, we probably won't return till 10 or 11 pm. I'm sure our bags will be in the room.

I hear you, but for your own sake I'm suggesting to you to pack your "dinner clothes" in a carry-on even if you intend to claim your own luggage. What if the airline delays your luggage???!!!

I take this same precaution whenever and wherever I fly. It's just good planning. Think of it as an insurance policy in case the airline delays your luggage. I've had luggage delays twice before in my life (both times on my way TO my vacation, as bad luck would have it), but smart packing in a carry-on prevented it from being a problem both times.

And no, those delays were in no way associated with DME, MCO, Florida, or even the American southeast.
