OK now some foods,
Finally we got to try the CAKE BAKE SHOP
While the food was okay with the exception of the chicken velvet soup which was stellar,
everything else was just mediocre.
I knew going into this place it was going to be a rip off.
Boy was I correct ......
The problem is they're just trying to sell this aesthetic look to justify the exorbitant pricing
that is not justifiable by the quality of the food that you are getting.
The fries that were served with both sandwiches were not even remotely fresh and they were very tough and bouncy texture for a fry. When the server who was great BTW asked how everything was at the end,
I said you want the truth? She said yes and I told her, she offered fresh fries, and I declined and
said you should never have had to do that since they really should be fresh especially for the prices.
I jokingly asked for a vat of that amazing soup and she grabbed me a container of it and bread, which
was nice and had it later in the room.
BONUS SOUP
This made this a bit better than the 10% off for DVC. they put this out for my wife's birthday
This is the only thing that was stupendous. The creamy crack like addiction of the flavors were blissful.
The tiny piece of bread, can they spare some......
The burger meat was very good quality, it was cooked as I asked. Quite tasty but, $28 and they don't even have the balls to GIVE you a slice of cheese without charging you an extra $3 is frigging criminally insane.
So if you want an overpriced burger with cheese for $31 and garbage fries, this is the spot for you.
The bread that they fly in daily supposedly from New Orleans could not have been fresh because what I was served was a crumbling mess, which was not enjoyable.
The shrimp that adorned it we're tasty but not plentiful for the silly $36 cost.
I did enjoy the hot sauce on the side it had a good punchy flavor, and it was the same with the romulade sauce.
We did not eat most of the crappy bread. The bread with the soup is what they should have used.
The Magic Bar also for $11 and for the size it's an embarrassment.
The Taste and texture was fairly good.
It truly is magical since it disappeared my $11 for the tiny "sample"
Millionaire cake was decently tasty but it does cost $22.
That is correct, I said $22 and it's not 2 lbs worth of cake.
For the price, it's an insult. Compared to Gideon's which is bigger, tastier and only $11.
No brainer.
You're starting to see a pattern here, overpriced pricing silliness.
Raspberry crumble bar was very tasty, it had great texture.
The jam was fresh, but $11 for a small square, once again, is absolutely insanity.
Must be owned by a crazy person.......
For us this is the one and done, it's a lot of smoke and mirrors.
The value for what you get is abysmal.
I'm still glad I finally got to try it but I will not be Hoodwinked anymore.
By the way our server was very good and there was no complaints there.
we both love the steak here and now they even improved it since
last September. It's so fantastic and shocked how excellent it is.
Tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned. The potatoes and green beans
are a great side to the steak. This is always a must great for us.
BTW you do not need to be a cowpoker to eat here. Just sayin'
First time at the new Poly tower, it was not opened yet since last trip in Sept.
Seen all the rave about the burgers here, and I am a top elite burger expert so we
needed to evaluate it for ourselves.
Lovely art work
OKAY, very good burger but not the best. ( Boathouse & STK are still #1)
It would be in my top 7. Very well executed and enjoyed the bun, like it was slightly sweet.
Like me. Sweet potato fries were a great change up. Also dug the sauce.
My only BEEF with this, for the price which is steep for the size of the patties and lack of fries.
Come on give me a LIL more. Also NO PICKLES!!!!! *** in Satan's bunghole is that crap.
Pickles are a MUST, no question.
Would come back though and begrudgingly pay for this meat meal.
They brought out my wife a BDAY cupcake, very nice of them.
Also loved outside is a Coke freestyle machine, and they had a Poly tower exclusive flavor, which was very good.
happy they had a zero sugar version since we only will drink zero sugar sodas.
Another fun meal with our friends Todd & Michelle from the Youtube channel Traveling around Disney.
We look forward to getting together a few times every trip.
They changed the rolls a little while ago, and it was much better in the past.
Butter is still great.
Decent, nothing special or worth the cost.
very good indeed. Loved them and had them at the lounge a few days later.
It was just okay. Not like the amazing wedge from Boathouse.
wife got this, she liked it but not as good as other steaks around property.
I tried it, and I agree. Fries were just meh.
I had this the first time eating here a few trips ago and it was bliss.
This time, not so much. way to fatty and not cooked med like I asked.
Green beans and spuds were the highlight....
After last time the burger was not as good as all the time prior. So I swore it off.
For some reason I decided to try it.
WOW so glad I did, better than ever. Top 5 burgers on property.
Only nitpick NO PICKLES... *** dudes. Come on give me a lil dill.
My wife wanted to check it out for her birthday, and bonus they offered 40% off for annual passholders.
Since this was our first time eating here we were not prepared for the noise level. HOLY CRAP. So loud.
I had ear plugs with me and used them for the first time at any Disney restaurant. It was that bad.
But on to the food,
badass ceiling.
watery wife shot
this was okay, much better at JALEO
loved this, needs more bread....
wife steak, she loved it
my steak, no shrooms. Very good, a bit small. Very good spuds.
Loved the patatas but the brussels were best we had. ( Sides were shared)
free Bday treat for the wife, not sure what it was, but it was good.
heck of a deal.
Over all we liked it, but where its at and noise level we would not bother again.
Off to a great start. Epic Universe really looks, well, epic and all reports that I've seen suggest the food is both creative and good with a few exceptions. I agree with you on Cake Bake Shop, the prices just don't align with what they serve and the experience. That said, I have been back to sit at the bar a few times. I've never been to Whispering Canyon, will have to give it a try. Am also anxious to try the burger at Wailulu and am now adding Turf Club to my list of need to try. I trust your burger expertise!! 40% discount is amazing but the noise would annoy me too. For some reason I always forget about Trattoria ... need to get back there.
We always love the cookies and treats here. Much better and never a wait compared to Gideon's.
All of them were excellent, but our favs were the bars and oatmeal scotchies.
For some reason they gave us a duplicate order and only charged for the almond & rice crispy treat. So bonus.
The only savory thing we really like are the puffs and got them to go to reheat later in the room and they
are magnificent.
For some reason we always had STK on our list every trip to try for the burger lunch special.
For whatever reason we always postpone it and say next trip. But this time we decided to stick to our plans and we made it happen.
Holy crap, we are so glad we did because this burger is exquisite. It's on par with the excellent burger at Boathouse
but it's slightly different. The roll is Sublime. Meat, juicy and perfectly cooked. Well seasoned, and the cheese is plentiful. The fries were a great surprise. Crisp and lightly battered.
For the size and price and quality this one technically should be number one, but Boathouse for flavor slightly eeks it out. Kudos to them for also having wonderful pickles included.
This will be a must get every trip. It was so convenient to place the order right on their website, picked it up and we ate it right outside on that ledge wall by the bathrooms, how fitting so we can go wash up afterwards.
I really should punch myself in the face for not getting here sooner because of all the burgers that we missed out on....
NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Always meant to try it past trips, and we finally got it to go.
Not bad, nothing amazing. Worth it if your here and have a hankering for a slab
of chocolate cake.
