Looking to book a 30th anniversary trip Oct 22-26th and am now seeing that crowds will be insane at this time. Have never been in October so this is all new to me during this time period. Would be doing the Epcot and the food and wine festival, AK and DHS. Is there another time during the month that would be better? Why all the crowds? We went last year Dec 15th-20th and the crowds were the worst we've ever seen and we've been 10-15 times. Will the be worse or about the same?

Probably a little better late October vs mid December, but there’s a lot of fall breaks in October, so people travel all month long. You might find better crowds about a month earlier - late September, or first week of November between last Halloween party and first Christmas party, but probably not too much better. Mid-Late September would be way better, just have to prepare for hurricane weather, just in case!

October even when Disney was not so popular years ago was popular. The weather is nice for all at that time. November-Feb can be hot, can be cool and usually some days of each. September is good alternative early 20 could get you decent weather and all that is going on in October.

We will be there those same days. It is our favorite time to go to WDW because the weather is usually really nice. We have been that same period several times now and I don't remember it ever being insanely crowded. But I'm sure it will be busy. :)

I kinda like late October better than early October which has become a bigger “fall break” time around Columbus Day weekend and various religious holidays in the late Sept/early Oct timeframe. MNSSHP buzz is also fizzling out since by that point the parties have been going on for 2 months. Your dates are also right after the big Gartner IT conference 10/16-19. All of October is still popular and subject to school breaks, conventions, groups, etc for all the reasons mentioned above, but I wouldn’t be viewing it all that differently than most weeks of the year.

Enjoy your (likely good weather) late October trip!

We've been early October and it was a little crowded. We've also went the end of October and early November and noticed it was less busy. Our busiest trip to date was December 7, 2021. We spent 10 days and was shocked at how crowded the days were. We visited the same week several times prior and never encountered such crowds. A cast member at our hotel stated the increase in attendance was due to "stimulus" money everyone was receiving. Not sure if this played a part or not but we had trouble getting two rooms on the same floor. We just blamed in on the anniversary celebration.

Have been twice at this time, and although it has been busy, it’s still manageable! The last couple years, Disney has been so busy with people who were dying to get out after Covid, hoping at some point some of this will dissipat! October is busy, a lot of things to do, but it’s a great time to go! I don’t like crowds and won’t go at certain points of the year, Christmas week, thanksgiving week, spring break, but I will do October!
