High Heels--am I crazy?

To be fashionable, you need to be appropriate. Heels in the theme park are not appropriate, thus not fashionable. Caution about the flats, though. Be sure to break them in especially if you are used to heels.

If you are overly concerned that Stacy and Clinton are going to jump out, maybe consider a different cut of jeans that you can wear with non-athletic sneakers like puma, etc. I don't think I'd wear my skinny jeans with those, but my boot cuts look cute with them.

I was going to say that I can't bring myself to wear crocs even at Disney - I have a passion for shoes - but I realized that I do own crocs. I might wear them at Disney with skinny jeans... They are leopard print Malinda. I get compliments on them every time I wear them. I always shock people when I say they are crocs.

I think that is a bit crazy, there are so many people in the park and they are not paying attention to you so they could possibly bump into you, push you accidentally etc...I would not want to be in high heels and deal with that.

In the cooler weather I did wear nice flats and such because I am not a sneaker person either but I will admit my dogs were parking at the end of the day and I gave in and put on my one pair of sneakers for comfort alone, the heck with if it looks nice with jeans ;)

Just wanted to add that, in addition to websites devoted to "bad shoes," there have been "What are they thinking?!?" threads here on the Dis where people post pictures of women in high heels (yes, it appalled them enough to get their camera out while on vacation) & post it on the Dis, and then people tear the "high heel wearer" to shreds over it.

If I remember right there was even a time when someone came on and said, "Um...that's me." That's not the kind of 15 minutes of fame you want here on the Dis. :)

Hope you're becoming convinced that sometimes functionality (& health!) are more important than fashion. :) Have a fabulous trip!

I remember that..talk about being able to hear crickets chirping:rolleyes1 I have to agree though. As mean as it may sound we do laugh amongst ourselves at people we see in heels or inappropriate park attire.I don't take pics though. You can have fashion and comfort , but within reason.A White minidress /sundresses and high heeled sandals, with a designer bag and every piece of jewelry you own ( and yes we saw that)are fine for Vegas, NYC etc.It doesn't work at WDW riding Splash Mountain.

IAs for fashion, I would not dream to carry a fanny pack back home......At least it is a rock climbing fanny pack:rotfl: but I need both hands free to hold two little boys hands in large crowds!!!

When in Disney....do as the Disney people do:rotfl2: Funny Hats, fannypacks, sneakers.....it is part of the fun!

:

I was talking to Dsis last night and she told me to take a fanny pack-- my response...um, no. It's great for some people but just not for me. I think I have an overland--I'm not usre what it is called, but it was recommended from the boards. But looking at the weather this morning...I won't even need jeans--it's like 80-90 do there!! I guess I can stop worrying I'll probably be in my trusty flip flops:rotfl:

Since we are going in November I don't really know what the weather will be like but I will probably have to wear jeans and I can't stand wearing sneakers with jeans--I always wear high heeled boots (like stilettos) or just high heels...am I crazy to walk around in a park like that--I normally wear my boots/heels for hours on end.

Yes, I think it would be silly to wear high heels at Disney.

lol - funny, the different perspectives - I've always thought high heels looked silly with jeans...and that sneakers or flats looked better...

Flip flops would hurt my feet too .....

I'm with you on the fanny pack though. I compromise with a small backpack.

Heck no, I wouldn't wear heels. I wear heels just about every day, but at WDW, I will be wearing my brand new Adidas sneakers. I've been wearing them on weekends to break them in. There's NO way I'd walk all day at a theme park in heels. Just as it would be inappropriate for me to go to the office in sneakers, it would be inappropriate for me to go to WDW in heels. There's a time and a pace for everything.

Even if you *are* overly concerned about what other people think, in this case those other people are going to think you're crazy! So it's lose-lose!! ;)

Seriously, wear comfy shoes and have fun! :goodvibes

Yes.

I could never do it, but I can't wear them at home either.Too many medical issues. My suggestion is bring them, because you seem to "need" them, but also bring two other more sensible options. Loads of folks alternate their shoes and their feet do very well. At least you'll have options! I see folks there in heels all the time and they do not appear to be in pain, but it makes my feet hurt just to see it!:scared1:

Oh..this is such a cool thread!! I just got back from our disney trip and need to download some pics I took. I finally captured on camera one of those "bad shoes' pictures. When i get battery recharged today i will post the picture. It gave me such a chuckle to follow this guy around and get a picture of what was on his feet. All I could think if was "wait until the disboards sees these!!"

as far as high heels..yes you will look not only foolish but also crazy..my dh and I have seen a couple folks crazy enough to wear high heels at the parks and we always wonder about the stability of their minds

wear different pants if that is what it takes to wear comfortable shoes or sneakers...course, I am not very fashionable so I dont even understand why you are worried.

I am the nut there complete with fanny pack and rain coats for the wet rides

To get a man's perspective... i asked my DH. He told me if I was stupid enough to wear heels, not only would he laugh at me, but he would walk far far away from me:lmao:

There are places to wear heels but WDW is not one of them. Like other posters have said, there are cute low heeled shoes. You aren't stuck with sneakers if you really hate them.

Oh, no you are not crazy, just make sure you double you vacation time, because for every day of heels you will need another day of rest:lmao:

I would say wear whatever you want that you are comfortable in....I can't imagine anyone wearing heels comfortably to the parks everyday but it is certainly your perogative.

I will say that if you are worried about what other people think (if that is why you don't wear tennis shoes with jeans) - wearing heels is going to get "what the??" attention....not tennis shoes. We saw two younger (20-something) girls wearing heels going to into Epcot. All we could think of was, "I hope they either work there at a desk or are only planning to stay an hour". My feet started hurting just looking at them!:rotfl:

I really don't care what people think I look like in the park (thus comfy shoes and fanny packs for me)....I would take the same attitude if I wanted to wear heels. But I would definitely bring a back up pair of shoes in case you find it is more than you bargained for. My feet are killing me even wearing tennis shoes by day 3-4.
