High Heels--am I crazy?

If you decide on the heels, take some backup shoes just in case. I can't imagine doing all day in heels at a park, let alone multiple days.

but if you do decide to wear your heels be aware you will be considered a winner in someone's game of "bad shoe"

Strongly agree, at Disney World, although "you" may think it's fashionable, most people will think you're crazy!!! There literally have been/are websites dedicated to pictures of inappropriate (crazy) footwear for trekking around Disney World.

Also, agree with person who said the weather is usually warm, we've been there several times in November and while there have been a few coolish days, there have been many more that we have been able to go in the pool. Most days I wear capris and a short sleeve shirt. Evenings you might add a light jacket. That would be from my experience in general.

We are also going in November again this year, so I might eat my words but I think I'll go with things I can "layer". I've been there when it's almost 90 to 50's at that time of year.

I have to agree that you'd be crazy. I also wear hate wearing sneakers with jeans and rarely wore flat shoes (until a few years ago when I injured my back). You can find some cute rubber soled flats with a little support and you'll be in much better shape. On our last trip I tried to wear some "cute" sandals with a hard sole and slight heel one day at Epcot. I was in so much pain I had to *gasp* buy a pair of Crocs and wear them for the rest of the day :rotfl: They ended up being wonderful and I didn't care what I looked like at that point.

I saw a picture of Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) in Disneyland last year and my feet hurt for her. I read an article about her and she mentioned that she now ditches the heels at Disneyland now and switched to flip-flops. I guess she had to live and learn.

I have been to both Disneyland and Disney World and I think I did way more walking in Disney World.

Fashionable? I really wouldn't worry about that. Everyone around you will be comfortably adorned in crocs and fannypacks. There's a time and a place for heels, like dinner at V&As, but walking around a theme park definitely doesn't seem like one of them. You WILL get strange looks, so be prepared for it. It's akin to wearing heels to the gym. No one would think that's fashionable, just very 'different'. :goodvibes

you would be amazed what DH is saying right now--just so happens that he was asleep when I first posted this...he is agreeing STRONGLY with everyone... with walking so much-- I guess that is another reason to go to DSW tomorrow. I know that its crazy, but I don't go to Disney when it's "cold" or I have to wear shorts... I guess I didn't think about walking "10 miles" yes, 5 miles I could do...even chasing kids, but.....it's all about the fashion right??!!! Not down there I guess...btw I did see someone there last time in heeled boots..

Ok, I'm a guy, and while I'm not going to lie, an attractive lady does add a little enjoyment to a day, at WDW, I tend to think more something like 'It's WDW, why would someone spend that much time and effort'. And yes, my wife and I do tend to laugh when we see someone in high heels. So while it's your feet and you feeling good about yourself, as others have said, at WDW you'll probably be the discussion more of the 'crazy' person by most people :)

I think wearing high heels at WDW looks tackier than wearing a fanny pack there. Never thought I'd EVER say that! :lmao:

Disney has an off-kiltered sense of normal when it comes to fashion in the parks. Common sense and ease of use trump fashion.

I doubt that you will be the least fashionable person there if you wear flat shoes! ;) Seriously you must be crazy to consider wearing heels, I can feel my feet burning just thinking about it! I too wore a pedometer last year and we did 12 miles in MK! There is no way I could handle that in heels!

I have twisted my ankle with sneekers on at Magic Kingdom. The pavement down main street has grooves.
I would not risk wearing heals, if you twist your ankle, it will ruin you vaca.

As for fashion, I would not dream to carry a fanny pack back home......At least it is a rock climbing fanny pack:rotfl: but I need both hands free to hold two little boys hands in large crowds!!!

When in Disney....do as the Disney people do:rotfl2: Funny Hats, fannypacks, sneakers.....it is part of the fun!

and YES....I always run into someone that I know!!!!

I could not last 10 minutes in hills at DW. I am questioning my ballet flats, but those are broken in and should be fine.

I def would not suggest wearing high heels your feet will be killing you after a couple of hours.

However since you dont like the jeans and sneaker look, the latest look are low to no heel rider boots they come in ankle/knee and high lengths.

also they are selling alot of stylish flat shoes as well. good luck but I would suggest staying away from the heels

i have to agree with the person who said that it almost looks tackier to wear heels. ok, so "tacky" might not be a great word, but it definitely doesn't look smart to wear heels.

you don't have to wear new balance. i have a pair of Ariat clogs. Ariat makes equestrian stuff, but these black clogs are so comfortable and look awesome with jeans. I love me some jeans, and I love boots of all kinds, but there are other shoes/boots besides stiletto types that look good with jeans. i get compliments on those Ariat clogs a lot.

I also just bought a pair of Dansko clogs that I plan on wearing to the park. There are other options besides track shoes and stiletto boots.

From someone who lives in heeled boots at home.....Your feet would be SCREAMING within an hour.It is not the same as pounding pavement at home. There are plenty FASHIONABLE , and COMFORTABLE shoes out there. You just have to look

This reminds me of a lady we saw last weekend. We were at a farm fall festival. It was a bit of a rainy day, on a farm, and everything was mud! We were all a mess, but having a great time. We were in the corn maze and we were sliding everywhere and we saw a lady tip toeing in high heeled boots. She was the talk of the corn maze, you knew who had seen her because everyone was talking about her. We saw her again later on the big slides. By then I guess she had given up on staying clean because she was sliding down the muddy slides like the rest of us nuts!

I agree with, well, everyone else who said it would not be a wise choice.

Since we are going in November I don't really know what the weather will be like but I will probably have to wear jeans and I can't stand wearing sneakers with jeans--I always wear high heeled boots (like stilettos) or just high heels...am I crazy to walk around in a park like that--I normally wear my boots/heels for hours on end.

Are you crazy? Yes.

Disney is not about fashion. When you see what everyone else is wearing, you will wonder why you spent a moment pondering what to wear.

I worried about what to wear (fashion-wise) the first time. I don't give fashion a passing thought any more. I think about comfort and function (pockets, hoods or ability to easily remove or put on).

If you want to dress nicer for a special dinner (and you're not going to be traipsing from Epcot parking lot through FW and into the nether regions of WS), I say go ahead. For park touring, yes, you're crazy.

Just wanted to add that, in addition to websites devoted to "bad shoes," there have been "What are they thinking?!?" threads here on the Dis where people post pictures of women in high heels (yes, it appalled them enough to get their camera out while on vacation) & post it on the Dis, and then people tear the "high heel wearer" to shreds over it.

If I remember right there was even a time when someone came on and said, "Um...that's me." That's not the kind of 15 minutes of fame you want here on the Dis. :)

Hope you're becoming convinced that sometimes functionality (& health!) are more important than fashion. :) Have a fabulous trip!
